Hi Everyone! This is Buford coming to you with this new update on the fabulous me!
Well let me tell you, this place has been quite the change from the last place I was living. There, I had my brothers and sisters to play with, and a whole lot of big dogs too. We spent everyday outside and all slept together in a comfy shelter at night. Here, there’s only one other dog, and he doesn’t always want to play with me. I’ve been trying real hard to be his friend and I think he’s starting to like me! I like to follow him around and see what he’s doing or eating or try out the spots he likes to sit in,
but he would say, “get out here you pesky kid”! I always listen really good and I think it’s starting to pay off because now he lets me lay next to him.
When I first came, FM didn’t mind snuggling with me,but I think eventually I’ll convince my friend, Sammy to let me snuggle just like I did with my brothers and sisters.
I really like my new FM. She takes me outside and plays with me, and takes me on walks around our big yard. I really like to play fetch or chew on toys in a shady spot when its really hot out.Sometimes when FM is busy with her gardening, I like to hang out on the shady porch and take my nap!
FM tells me I have just the right amount of energy and likes that I can play alone and then take a nap when she’s busy sitting in her office. FM just showed me this crazy toy that makes all sorts of noises and spins around! It was so fun to play with. I was so excited, I wanted to show it to Sammy so he could have a turn too!
FM also likes that I stay right with her when we go on our walks around the yard and when we are in the house so she can keep an eye on me. Don’t tell her but it’s because I feel real safe when I’m with her and she gives me these yummy treats!! I really don’t like it when FM leaves but I’m getting used to that crate thing since she always leaves me with a tasty bone and she’s not gone all that long. The rest of the day, FM is here with me and I like that alot. Right now, FM says that our walks can only be in the yard since I have a couple more shots to get but we’ve been going in the car to different places. FM carries me around so I get to see new places and people. I really like meeting new people and the car is a great place to nap!
Well, that’s all for now! We just finished taking our last walk for the day.
Foster Mom says that it’s almost bedtime and I want to get the most comfy spot in the bed!

Buford is on day 3 of foster care and is settling in great! He has been doing all his business outside with absolutely no accidents since he arrived. I take him out when he first wakes up, 5-10 minutes after a meal and every couple of hours while he is awake and immediately after waking up from a nap. He even goes pee on demand which is amazing for a puppy his age. He is sleeping through the night snuggled in bed with me and only stirs when I get up.He is a people person and doesn’t like to be left alone. Over the weekend, when my husband and I went out, we left him with my son. He fussed for a bit and ran around the house looking for me and then finally settled in my son’s laundry basket for good 45 min nap.
Today was the first day that he needed to be crated when I left for my morning workout. My husband report that he cried and made a fuss the entire time that I was gone even though he had a heartbeat puppy, a collagen chew stick that he had previously been happily chewing on, a peanut butter lick ball and some scattered kibble to find in his big crate. He was however quiet as a mouse when I walked in the house. Maybe the garage door opening got his attention and distracted him from his fussing. He has never been alone prior to coming into foster care and always had his littermates and other dogs around so I understand that being alone can be scary. He’d probably do best with someone who is home more often than not and another furry friend in the house to keep him company.
He is great at entertaining himself when his people are staying put in one place. He loves squeaky balls, and toys, and collagen chew sticks, benebones and marrow bones.
When I’m up and about, Buford is right behind me and goes where I go.
He likes dehydrated sweet potato snacks too!
Buford wasn’t too sure initially about coming down the big staircase, but only after a day figured out how come down without any problem.
Outside, he likes to play fetch and is great about bringing it right back for another toss.
He likes to walk around our big fenced in yard and sticks close behind me, occasionally straying off the path for a sniff but always coming right back to my side.He is good reading other dog’s cues and was super happy when Sammy wanted to play a little chase with him. I think he’d love to have a playmate to play chase with and keep him company.
Buford loves to get loved on and is always ready to snuggle and give out kisses and isn’t too picky about where he takes his naps as long as his people are close by.
He also loves to get belly scratches.
Buford is a super sweet guy who has been super easy to have in the house. He is going to make an excellent daily companion to one lucky family!

I picked Buford up from transport today. It was a long ride that started yesterday in Little Rock, AR. Buford’s dad was a black Labrador and his mom was a mixed breed dog. Where they lived in AR it’s hard to find good adopters so the family reached out to a local rescue for help who then contacted Brookline. He was super friendly and full of kisses when I got him. He wasn’t a fan of going back in the crate and cried and howled for about the first 10 minutes of our car ride home after that he settled down and was quiet for the rest of the ride.
When we got home, we explored the yard and he met Sammy. Buford wasn’t really interested in Sammy and mostly just wanted to sit in my lap.
We brought out the tennis ball and he had fun playing some fetch. He happily chases the ball and brings it right back for another toss.
After all the playtime we went inside and he ate his food and then a bath since he was a bit stinky from the ride. He did really well in the tub and then we went back outside to dry off in the sun. He dried super fast which was great. This boy loves attention and scratches!
After some more playtime in the yard, I brought him with me in the office to work on this update and he curled up on a comfy bed and is now snoozing away!
Stay tuned for more updates as this cutie settles in.
