Hi Everybody!

I have some really big news! Remember when I asked for help finding my new family? Well, Jen came through. She found them and I’m going to meet them tomorrow! FFM and OFM said they are so happy for me. But FFM keeps having watery eyes. I don’t know what that’s about. Anyway, they said in my new family I will have a mom and a dad and three fur-sisters, Labs just like me. Sounds like I’ll have lots of company. I’m going to miss OFM and especially FFM. But they promised me that I’ll be so busy with my new family I won’t miss them too much. I don’t know about that… you all know how I feel about FFM. ❤ But we’ll see…
Thanks, Brookline, for taking such good care of me!
Love,
Kody

Hi Everybody!
Kody here! I’m still hanging out at my foster home waiting for my forever family to find me. Maybe you can help them find me. I’ll tell you a little about me, so you’ll know what I’m looking for.
I like to help FFM (Favorite Foster Mom) with the yard work. We spend many long days out there.
I love to be outside. But most of all, I love to be with my people! I hope that my forever family has a person that I can spend most of my time with. I do okay when OFM (Other Foster Mom) and FFM go out. Sometimes I bark a little when they leave, but I settle down. I am much happier, though, when they (especially FFM) are home with me!

I have some arthritis in my legs so it’s hard for me to do a lot of steps. I can do the 6 steps to the deck okay.
But I probably couldn’t do a whole flight of steps to a second floor. I hope my forever family has just one floor… or at least has a bedroom on the first floor where I can sleep near my person. Don’t worry, I don’t hog the bed. I’ll sleep on my own bed on the floor. I just want to be near I still go for PT, but I’m doing so much better. I only go every 2-3 weeks now. My FMs are going to try weaning me off PT to see how I do. I’m stronger now so I think I’ll do okay!
I get along great with everyone I meet – people, dogs, cats, you name it. I love everybody! I’m 11 years old, but I still have some pep in my step, and I love to play with other dogs.
I can’t always keep up with the youngsters, but I have fun trying! It would be cool if my forever family had another dog for me to hang out with. But if not, that’s okay. Most of all, I’m looking for my special person. I lived with my Dad since I was a puppy up until a few months ago when he went to heaven. He was my best buddy and I really miss him. Now I have FFM and OFM. They’re awesome, but I want to find my very own special buddy who I can be with forever. ❤
Will you help me find them?

Hi Everybody!
Hope you are all keeping cool in this crazy hot weather! I try to stay out of the sun when it’s so hot, but FFM likes to be outside working in the yard, and I like to be with FFM, so… you know how it goes. FFM and OFM always get in the pool to cool off, and sometimes they make me get in, too. I’m not so sure about this swimming thing, so they put this silly jacket on me to make me more comfortable.
I have to admit, it did make swimming easier. And FFM stayed by my side the whole time. ❤ ❤
I think I actually got the hang of it. Check this out.
I’m still going for rehab. I only go every other week now and I’m doing well between appointments.
I like going to rehab. It always makes me feel better.
And FFM is always by my side! ❤
A few weeks ago, we had a Doggie Swim Party at my foster home. It was a blast! I didn’t go swimming, but I had so much fun meeting all the other dogs and the people, too. I was smiling all day!
After that, one of FFM and OFM’s friends came to visit so we could meet her new puppy, Louie. He is 7 months old. Me and Louie really hit it off. We even played for a bit. He has more energy than me, though, so when he started zoomies around the yard, I just watched and smiled.
The best part of the day was that Louie’s mom brought ice cream for all us dogs! DEE-LISH-US!! I was so excited, I took the whole cup full in my mouth at once. Yum!
Everybody said I was gonna get brain freeze, but I didn’t care. I just kept chomping and enjoying! Check it out!
OFM said I should tell you that I’m doing much better when FFM goes out without me. I’ll hang out with OFM, and I’m not upset like I used to be. OFM is cool. She’s no FFM, but she’s pretty cool. I’m also doing better when both FFM and OFM go out and leave us dogs alone.
Sometimes I bark a bit, but not all the time. And I settle down quickly and don’t bark again until they come in the door. Then I have to bark to welcome them home!
I’m still looking for my new family. If you know of someone who would enjoy hanging out with a handsome, loyal, ice-cream-loving, always-smiling dog, send them my way! I’ll be their best buddy forever!

Hi Everybody!
Kody here – checkin’ in again.
I hope you are all managing to stay cool in this HOT weather. Everybody else here spends a lot of time in the pool. But, as you know, I’m not a big fan of the pool. I did find something that helps cool me off, though…
FROSTY PAWS!!
If you haven’t tried them, you should! DEE-LISH-US!
Kody and his DEE-LISH-US Frosty Paw
I go back to PT this week after skipping a week. FFM and OFM said they notice a little bit of a difference with me skipping a week, but not too bad. They think I’ll do okay with this every other week schedule for a few more weeks. And then I’ll try stopping PT to see how I do. I’m feeling much stronger these days so I think I’ll be okay. FFM and OFM think I was deconditioned because I didn’t get as much exercise when my Dad was sick. I’m more active now and I’m feeling good. My FMs say I’m pretty much a couch potato anyway. I don’t know why they say that. I don’t even get on the couch.
We have a little guy staying with us for a few days. I’m talking really little – he’s only 10 weeks old! His name is Indy and he is a foster dog like me. I was very excited when I met him yesterday. So were Rubble and Lucy.
But the little guy wanted nothing to do with us. He kept running away from us. Then he started barking at me – right in my face. How rude! OFM said it was because he was afraid of us. He is a lot smaller than us. We didn’t mean to scare the little guy. We just wanted to check him out. I told him I was sorry and I tried real hard to make friends with him.
Last night, OFM put that scared little puppy to bed. I don’t know what happened overnight…. but there was a different puppy here today! YIKES. He wasn’t scared anymore… and he was coming right at us… all TEETH! You know, those sharp little puppy teeth!! He seemed to think that us big kids would make great chew toys. Now we are the ones who are scared! By tonight, I’d had enough and I finally told him to KNOCK IT OFF. That puppy flew to the other side of the coffee table! OFM and FFM said I was a good boy and that he needs to learn. I sure hope he’s a quick learner!
That’s the news from here. I’m still waiting for my Forever Family to find me. I’d go out and look for them, but I’m not allowed to go out by myself. So, if you see them, please let them know that I’m here waiting for them!
Stay cool! Smell ya later!

Hi Everyone,
Kody checking in again. I’m still hanging out with my Brookline peeps enjoying life. I’m looking for my Forever Home now but it’s cool to stay here with my FFM and OFM until I find it.
I’ve got some good news! I’ve gotten so strong that FFM decided to drop my rehab to every other week. I’m feeling so much better that I’ve even started to play ball. I can catch the ball but if FM’s throw is off, I’ll chase after it. Not real far – but it’s a start!
We spend a lot of time out in the yard with the young pups swimming in the pool. I usually chill in the shade but on really hot days when I refuse to stay in the AC because my peeps are out by the pool, FFM makes me get in the pool to cool off. It’s okay. I just hang on the steps and play with a ball.
Sometimes friends come over to hang out in the pool or in the yard with us. My buddy, Easton, is like me – he prefers dry land to the pool. So, we chill together.

“E” is just my speed when it comes to wrestling, too!

After an invigorating match, we like to relax and watch the youngsters in the pool.
Like I said, I’m ready to find my forever home and I can’t wait to meet my new family! If you know them, please let them know I’m looking for them. Thanks!

Kody

Hi Everybody,
Sorry, it’s been a while since I gave you an update. I’ve been up to fun stuff at my foster home.
I’m still going for rehab. FFM and OFM think it’s making me stronger. I must say, getting up and down the steps is easier these days. Plus, I like going because I get lots of attention!
Truckin’ in the treadmill. Last week I did 10 minutes! I’m really building up my time.
I really like the Piezo Wave cos it feels good.
And FFM hangs out right beside me! ❤
A few weeks ago, I went to the Arts and Barks event with FFM and OFM. I got to meet a bunch of really cool people and some other Brookline foster dogs. I had a great time. Someone said I looked like the mayor, standing in front of the Brookline table, greeting everyone. I kept trying to take FFM or OFM for a walk. I’d wander to the next table, sniff around a bit, say hello to everyone there, and then try to wander to the next table. They kept telling me we had to stay at the Brookline table so I could meet all the cool folks who came to visit Brookline. That was fun, too, so I didn’t mind.
Here I am hanging out with two other Brookline foster dogs, Sandy (yellow) and Gracie (black). They live in the same foster home (though I heard Sandy is going to her forever home really soon!). I told them about my FFM and OFM. They said they only have one foster mom (FM) and one foster dad (FD). A lot less confusing, I guess. But I’ve kind of gotten used to having a Favorite Foster Mom (FFM) and an Other Foster Mom (OFM). I don’t think I’d want to trade them! Well, except for a FOREVER mom or a FOREVER dad! FFM and OFM said it’s time to start thinking about what I want in my forever home. I have to work on that list!
We have another kid visiting my foster home this week. Her name is Evie, and she was a foster dog, too. Now she’s in her forever home, which just happens to be her foster home, too! We’ve been getting along just swell.
On those really hot days, me and Evie like to hang out in the shade while Rubble and Lucy are in the pool.
But today I decided to give the pool a try and, you know, it felt kind of good!
I didn’t want to go any farther than the step, though. I can swim – my FMs have seen me do it. But I prefer to chill on the step.
Today, my FMs saw me do something for the first time…. Play with a toy. I have LOTS of toys, but until today, I hadn’t really played with them. My FMs were so excited when they saw me playing with my bear and with a tennis ball. It doesn’t take much to amuse my FMs. But I’m glad I can make them smile. OFM took some video. Maybe this will make you smile, too.
I love my bear!

Hi Everybody!
You may have heard that FFM (Favorite Foster Mom) and OFM (Other Foster Mom) went away for a little vacation, without me.

I stayed at Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gary’s B&B. (I think that stands for Barks and Biscuits.) FFM and OFM were a little worried about how I would do in a new place and without FFM since I tend to whine (and occasionally howl) when FFM goes out without me.

Well, it turns out that FFM and OFM were worried for nothing! I did great at the B&B! I didn’t bark a lot, but I sure got lots of biscuits! And walks in the park and around their big yard. Aunt Lorraine even took me to my PT appointment. Doc sent OFM a video of me walking on the underwater treadmill and said I was “bookin’ at 1.0 mph”. I think that’s really good!
Aunt Lorraine said I was a really good house guest and I didn’t pine for FFM at all. She said I’ll do just fine transitioning to my forever family! I enjoyed hanging with Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gary. Me and Uncle Gary watched the Phillies together. One time Aunt Lorraine went outside to do some gardening, and I was bummed I couldn’t go with her. I whined at the door a little bit. I guess I have an OFFM (Other Favorite Foster Mom). Let’s not tell OFM, though. I don’t want her to feel bad!
Since FFM and OFM got home, I’ve been enjoying time in the yard. I like to catch a tennis ball as long as I’m close enough to see it coming. I’m not really into chasing them like the other kids are. Mostly I just like hanging out enjoying the fresh air with my family.
If you look closely, you may notice that I look wet in this picture.

Like, really wet. FFM and OFM uncovered that big hole in the yard and it’s full of water. I was walking beside it one day and next thing I know, I’m under water! I didn’t panic, though. I just popped my head above water and swam to the steps to get out. I’d seen Rubble jump in and get out, so I knew where the steps are. OFM said I’m really smart, figuring that out. She said I’m a good swimmer, too. But I’m not so sure I want to do that again. We’ll see.
I do enjoy the underwater treadmill, though. It feels good to walk with no stress on my joints.
When FFM and OFM took me to PT this week, they asked Doc about my latest test results. I had a urine protein-to-creatinine ratio (UPCR) test to check kidney function. Doc said the protein was slightly high which could indicate very early kidney disease. FFM asked if I should be on a special kidney diet. Doc said that wouldn’t be a bad idea. But when OFM looked into it, she saw that the kidney diet contains some stuff I’m allergic to. I eat a “limited ingredients food” because of my allergies. I’m doing really well and OFM and FFM don’t want to mess that up. They’re going to talk to Doc about it at my next appointment. I’m not too picky so I think I’ll be okay with whatever they decide – as long as they keep feeding me and don’t forget about the biscuits!
OFM said I’ll be ready to look for my forever home soon! How cool is that? She and FFM feel much better about it since I did so well at the B&B. I feel pretty good about it, too.

OFM said we have to work on my write-up to let everyone know what I need in my forever home. I sure hope she puts lots of biscuits on the list! But most of all, I hope I find a FFF (Favorite Forever Family) who will spend lots of time with me, because that’s what I love most of all. ❤

Kody continues to do well… and continues to have a FAVORITE foster mom, as shown in the video below. Note that his Other Foster Mom (OFM) was sitting a few feet from him filming this!
Kody will be staying with Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gary this week while his foster moms are away. Maybe this will help to break his obsession with FFM. 😂

Hi Everybody!
It’s me – Kody – AGAIN! Three days in a row is crazy, right? But I just had to send a quick note to show you the awesome stuff I got today! A package arrived, and FM said it’s my Foster Dog Care Package. She said all the Brookline foster dogs get them. How cool is that?! Check out the stuff I got.
That’s not even everything. Lucy had already grabbed some stuff from my pile! I didn’t mind, though. Lucy and Rubble share all their stuff with me, so it’s only fair.

Thanks, Brookline, for making me feel so loved!

Hi Everybody!
Guess what I did today? I met another Brookline foster dog! Casey is an old yellow guy, just like me. He’s staying with Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gary while his FM and FD are away. I’m going to stay with Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gary next week while my FM and FFM are away. So, I went over today to check the place out and make sure it was up to my standards.

While I was there, I got to hang out with Casey. He told me that the service at Samples’ B & B is top notch! He said they even get up at 6 AM to take him out and serve his breakfast. FM and FFM told them they should not put me on that schedule! I do like to sleep in, so I’m glad they let me know that.
Casey has some skin issues that his FM and FD are working hard to resolve. But he’s still a good-looking guy, like me! He’s looking for his forever home, too, so check him out!

Hi Everybody!
I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather. I sure am! I’ve been helping FM with gardening. It’s the perfect weather for it. And as long as I’m beside FM, I’m happy! That is, as long as I’m beside my Favorite FM, I’m happy. I love my other FM, too. But I still get a little upset if my FFM goes out without me. I just whimper for a bit and try to find where she is. I don’t know why she tries to go anywhere without me. We make such a great team!
I’ve had two PT sessions and I’m getting around better already. FM says I look like I’m feeling better. I’m playing with the other kids more, and I have no trouble doing the deck steps out to the yard. We’re still waiting on some test results. Doc said something wasn’t quite right in my urine test, so she wanted to do a Protein Creatinine Ratio test. We might have to wait a bit to get those results because Doc had to go out of town for a family emergency. That means no PT this week, either. Bummer. Hopefully, I’ll get back there next week.
FM (not FFM, just FM… but FM is cool, too, so I do stuff with her sometimes) wanted to do a photo shoot with me in front of the pretty bush that was in bloom. So, I struck a few poses for her.
Here’s my Happy Dog pose.
Here’s my Serious Dog pose.
Which look do you like better? I think I’m pretty good at both of them. 😊

Hi Everybody!
I know I just wrote a few days ago, but I wanted to let you know about my trip to see the eye doctor. Here I am waiting for the doc to come in.
I was a little stressed in there and kept trying to find my way outside again. But I was really good when the doc came in, and I let him do all his tests with no problems. He said I’m a really good boy.
The big news is I don’t need glasses! Doc said I can see okay, not great, but well enough to get around. And since I don’t do a lot of reading, I’m okay without glasses for now.
Doc said I have something called corneal endothelial dystrophy OU. Did you say “HUH?”. That’s what I said, too! Doc said it’s a condition that affects the inner layer of the cornea and leads to loss of cells that normally pump fluid out of the cornea. So, fluid builds up, causing swelling, cloudiness, and blurry vision. OU means it’s in both eyes. It’s not painful. FMs were really glad to hear that. I already knew that. Wish I could have told them so they weren’t worried about it. It can cause corneal ulcers, and those can hurt. Doc said he could see that I’ve had ulcers before, but I don’t have any now. He told my FMs about a medicine they can put in my eyes to help decrease the fluids and decrease the risk of ulcers. But if I start squinting or have yucky discharge in my eyes, I have to go see Doc again, cause that might mean I have ulcers. Paws crossed that doesn’t happen!
Today I went back to see my PT Doc. I got Piezo waves on my back legs and front legs.
Then they put me on this thing called a treadmill. Doc got in with me and closed the door. Then water started coming out of the floor! It was getting deep, and I was starting to worry.
I kept looking at my FMs, but they didn’t seem concerned. Then things got really weird! The floor started to move! My FMs still didn’t seem concerned, and they kept saying I was a good boy. I kept my cool and just started to walk, like this was a perfectly normal thing. But let me tell you – it was weird! Check this out.
After about 5 minutes, the floor stopped moving, the water went away, and they opened the door so I could get out. Everybody kept telling me I’m a good boy, and I did a great job. So, I guess it was a good thing. But yeah, weird.

Hi Everybody!
It’s me, Kody!
Things are going good here at my foster home. I’m much more comfortable here now. I can walk from room to room all by myself without getting worried. I can walk on any kind of floor – it doesn’t have to have a rug. I even go out the doggie door and down the deck steps all by myself! My FMs are really proud of me. I still don’t like it when my favorite FM goes outside to do yard work and leaves me inside. I could be an excellent assistant if she just gave me a chance! I don’t like it when both my FMs go out and leave us dogs alone. I bark when they leave. But eventually, I settle down and chill with Rubble and Lucy.
I went to see the doctor last week. She’s a “double doctor”. She does the regular doctor stuff, like giving shots and drawing blood. She also does rehab stuff like laser treatments, piezo wave, and exercise. My FMs said I need both kinds of doctors, so it was great that we got a 2-for-1. The doctor checked me out and took some blood to run some tests. My vet records said I had a problem with my thyroid at one point, but there was no mention of it after that, and I don’t have any meds for it. So, I had to get that checked out. I have some trouble getting around. My back legs don’t work like they used to. And I don’t see so good anymore. So, we asked the doctor to check me out.
Doc took some blood so she could check on my thyroid and some other stuff. Doc said, from looking at me, she thinks I have hip dysplasia and arthritis in my back and my legs. She is gonna give me some meds for pain, but she wants to look at my blood first to see what meds will be best for me. She said some PT stuff, like piezo waves and walking on the treadmill, will help me feel better and get stronger. We started out with some piezo waves.
I even got a complimentary manicure while I was there!
And I made a new friend.
Doc said my eyes don’t look so good. They’re really cloudy and have some edema (swelling). I can see, but not too good. Doc said I need to see an eye doctor. I wonder if I’ll get glasses like my FMs. I think I could pull it off. What do you think?
I’m going to see the eye doctor tomorrow. I’ll let you know if I’m getting glasses!
The best part about seeing the doctor was that I felt better afterwards. I had more pep in my step, and I was up for a play session with Rubble! Check it out!

Hi Everybody,
It’s me, Kody. I’ve been at my foster home for almost a week. Things are going okay. FM says I’m taking baby steps. I don’t know why she says that because I am certainly not a baby! I’m 11 years old. More of an elder statesman, I’d say. I think FM means I’m slowly getting comfortable here. Last night, I slept in FM’s room for the first time! The first few nights, I slept in the living room, and FM slept on the floor beside me. She tried sleeping on the couch, but I just kept pacing and panting until she got on the floor with me. After a few nights, I was okay with FM sleeping on the couch. I slept on the floor beside her. Last night we went into FM’s bedroom and, after about 15 minutes, I settled down beside her bed and we had a good night’s sleep. I guess that’s what FM means by baby steps.
My favorite spot in the house is the living room. That’s the first room I spent time in, and it’s the only room where I’m completely relaxed.

FM told me that I have to get used to being on the screened porch because they spend a lot of time out there when the weather is nice. So, I gave it a try. At first, I wasn’t too happy, and I trembled the whole time I was out there. But each time has gotten a little easier. Now I can chill on the porch. Not chill like in the living room, but getting there. Like FM said, baby steps.
My favorite place to be is outside! When the weather is this nice, who doesn’t want to be outside?! FM says she doesn’t see any signs of anxiety when I’m outside. I love meeting new people and exploring the yard.
I do have some trouble getting around. My back legs are weak and sometimes they give out. FM said I’m going to see a special doctor called a rehab doctor. She’s going to help me feel better and get stronger. FM also said the pool will be open in a few weeks so I can swim if I want. She doesn’t know if I like to swim. To be honest, I’m not so sure myself. But I guess we’ll find out soon!
My other favorite place to be is right by FM’s side.
I have two FM’s and I love them both. But FM Mary is my person. She slept on the floor with me and helped me feel safe. Now I want to be wherever she is. ❤
FM Mary also found the directions for my bed and made sure it was set up correctly. See, the red bed has to go on the bottom, then my green and white blanket, then my gray blanket, then my blue cooling mat. (FM: Yes, there were instructions on how to set up Kody’s bed! LOL)
Ahh… that’s perfect!
That’s all for now. Bark at ya later! If you’re looking for me, I’m hopefully out in the yard with FM!
Luv,
Kody

Meet Kody with a “K”!
![]()
Kody is an 11-year-old yellow male who was surrendered after his owner passed away. Kody is going through a stressful time after losing the only home he’s ever known. Kody’s owner had been in the hospital for an extended period before he died, so Kody spent several months living alone with only his cat buddies for company and family members coming in several times a day to feed him and let him out. He was understandably very stressed by this situation. Kody will need some extra TLC to adjust to his new life, but he still has lots of love to give and will soon be on the lookout for his new family!
Kody came into the rescue last week and spent some time with Jackie and Mark since we were having a big crowd here this weekend for Easter. Jackie and Mark very kindly drove Kody to our home this morning. Kody has trouble getting in and out of cars, so they thought this would be easiest for him.
Kody greeted us with a wagging tail and was eager to sniff all around our yard. He was panting and clearly anxious – probably really confused about all these changes. But Kody enjoyed checking out the smells in the yard. After he’d had some time to explore, we let Rubble and Lucy out to meet him. The intros went very well with lots of sniffing and tail wags.
Jackie said Kody liked to stick close to Mark. That makes sense since he’d lived with a man all his life. When Jackie and Mark left, Kody followed them to the gate, wanting to go with them. He cried as they walked away. Talk about heartbreaking! But he soon went back to exploring the yard and then chillin’ with Rubble and Lucy.
Kody’s back legs are very weak, and he has difficulty walking. He would not be able to do our deck steps, so we took him around to the front of the house and in the front door. There are only two steps there. He can manage those easily.
In the house, he did more pacing and panting but eventually relaxed enough to lie down. As Jackie and Mark told us, Kody does not like it when you leave the room he’s in, and he has a difficult time following you from room to room. So, he had us sitting still for a bit today! He doesn’t do well with transitions (from one type of flooring to another or through doorways), but will do them if you put a leash on him or even hold his collar and “guide” him through.
After about an hour in the house, he finally relaxed enough to put his head down and take a nap.
He is snoozing again as I write this. It’s sad to think about all Kody has been through since losing his dad, but hopefully, he will soon realize that better days are ahead!
