Lacey #8 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 6 Years Old ID#3526

Yellow Labrador RetrieverMeet Lacey!  Lacey is a beautiful purebred yellow breeder Mama.  She was surrendered because her breeder has decided to get out of the business which is very fortunate for this sweet girl.  Please read her blog from the bottom up to learn more about her while in foster care.

We’re delighted to provide you with an update on Lacey, our sweet foster who’s now been with us for two wonderful weeks. She continues to blossom into a delightful companion, enriching our home with her gentle and loving personality.

This past week, Lacey made great strides (literally!) conquering her apprehension about stairs. With gentle encouragement from FM, she now confidently navigates full flights of stairs with ease—what a champion! Enjoying her newfound freedom, Lacey now has full roam of the entire house, yet she still often chooses to cozy up next to FD’s feet, her favorite spot.Yellow Labrador RetrieverLacey has revealed a playful side during leash walks, showing interest in birds, squirrels, and deer. Impressively, she responds beautifully to commands and gentle leash corrections, never pulling aggressively—a testament to her willingness to learn.

This weekend marked another lovely milestone for Lacey as she experienced her first known meeting with children. Two neighborhood girls, ages 7 and 10, were greeted by Lacey’s characteristically gentle and warm demeanor, delighting everyone involved.

Spa treatments continued this week, and Lacey handled her very first “mani-pedi” like a pro! Despite initial reservations about the sound of the Dremel tool, she bravely stepped up before Scout. She also allowed FM to thoroughly brush her teeth.Yellow Labrador RetrieverHeartwarmingly, Lacey and Scout have started to engage in playful activities such as tug-of-war, chase, and joyful frolicking—both indoors and out. This has been particularly touching to witness, as Scout typically hasn’t shown interest in play with other dogs.

During our recent formal dinner gathering, Lacey and Scout were model guests, resting quietly with impeccable manners throughout the meal, without any begging or disruptions. Their perfect behavior earned them delicious doggie treats afterward!Yellow Labrador RetrieverThanks to FM’s gentle training and encouragement, Lacey is growing more comfortable with her crate each day. She now occasionally chooses to rest in her crate voluntarily and willingly enters it at bedtime.

We couldn’t be happier with how beautifully Lacey is progressing and thriving. Stay tuned for more updates as Lacey continues her journey!

We’re thrilled to provide you with an update on Lacey, who joined us just over a week ago. She has quickly become a beloved member of our household, easily settling into family life.Yellow Labrador RetrieverLacey continues to charm us with her gentle personality and wonderful adaptability. Each morning is now a joyous occasion.  Leash walks in the yard remain enjoyable and relaxing, with Lacey confidently exploring alongside Scout. We discovered a small quirk—Lacey isn’t particularly fond of navigating full flights of stairs, especially those with wood floors. While she’s comfortable climbing carpeted stairs, she’s hesitant to descend. But who needs stairs when there’s so much cozy space on the first floor? Speaking of cozy, Lacey has fully embraced her inner couch potato, happily lounging and snuggling with FM or FD at every opportunity. Her calm and gentle nature is evident when she is left alone. Although she’s free to roam the first floor, she usually returns to her bed—or occasionally sneaks onto the couch—for a peaceful nap.Yellow Labrador RetrieverTraining is progressing nicely. Lacey is picking up basic commands like sit, lie down, and leave it, and although she’ll need more practice, she’s off to a promising start. She listens well and responds quickly, which is especially helpful when she shows mild interest in food prep activities in the kitchen. Thankfully, no bad behaviors like counter surfing or chewing anything other than her toys have surfaced.

Mealtime has become a pleasant routine as Lacey now eats alongside Scout. Her slow and deliberate eating pace provides excellent training for Scout to respect Lacey’s space. Lacey often takes little breaks between bites to visit FM or FD—making mealtime fun for all.

Lacey showed her gentle and cautious side when meeting two workers who visited our home. Initially hesitant, she quickly warmed up and welcomed them.  We recently discovered that Lacey does indeed have a voice – she gave us her first bark of excitement upon FM’s return from shopping.

Our week wrapped up with a vet visit, where Lacey demonstrated her calm and cooperative temperament. She was gentle throughout her exam and vaccinations, receiving her Bordetella and DAPP shots and submitting patiently to tests for heartworm, Lyme, and a fecal screening. Her heartworm and Lyme test were negative, and we are awaiting her fecal screening results. She’s now proudly microchipped with her Brookline identification and weighed in at a healthy 87 pounds. The vet suggested a mid-July date for her spay surgery based upon where she is on her heat cycle.Yellow Labrador RetrieverWe’re delighted by how quickly Lacey has adjusted to life off the farm and thriving in her foster home.  Stay tuned for more updates as this regal beauty continues her journey.

This morning started beautifully, with Lacey greeting FD with a full-body wag and proudly presenting a precious “gift” in her mouth. Her resident dog Scout eagerly joined the joyful celebration of a new day.

Lacey continues to do an excellent job walking on her leash, and today, she and Scout enjoyed a joint stroll around the yard, happily exploring together.

Today was also a special spa day for Lacey! Initially unsure about stepping into the shower stall, she amusingly stayed half-in-half-out until FD’s gentle encouragement finally won her over. Once fully committed, she remained calm and cooperative throughout her bath, greatly enjoying her well-earned treats afterward. Lacey also patiently allowed FM to clean her ears, demonstrating just how wonderfully agreeable she is!Yellow Labrador RetrieverAdding another milestone to her journey, Lacey was introduced to FM’s elderly parents (90 and 85 years old). She showed remarkable gentleness during her greetings, not jumping or becoming overly excited—quite an example for her enthusiastic foster sibling Scout to follow!Yellow Labrador Retriever

Lacey continues to impress! She is doing wonderfully walking on a leash around the yard, showing calmness and ease as she explores her surroundings. We introduced her to playing fetch today, and while she initially seemed unsure about bringing the ball back, after a few tries, she got the hang of it. Her speed surprised us—she is definitely faster than expected for her elegant, full-sized frame!

It’s clear that Lacey is embracing the joys of family life.

She enjoyed keeping FM company during her conference calls, happily lounging nearby, and also appreciated some relaxed TV time with FD and Scout. Yellow Labrador RetrieverHer graceful and regal presence was especially stunning today, captured beautifully in a photo taken outside during golden hour—showcasing just how lovely she truly is.Yellow Labrador RetrieverStay tuned for more updates as we continue to learn about Lacey.

We’re thrilled to introduce you to beautiful Lacey, our sweet new foster who joined us yesterday. Thank you to Maija for pulling her off the farm. Lacey is already showing remarkable adaptability as she settles into her foster home. She has been initially shy and a bit hesitant to explore her new environment, but she is quickly warming up and now happily shadows her FM and FD around the house.Yellow Labrador RetrieverLacey had a wonderful first night, sleeping peacefully in her crate without a peep. In the morning, she greeted FD with enthusiasm—what a lovely way to start the day!

Today was all about relaxing and decompressing from her life on the farm. She’s eating well, showing a healthy appetite, and has already started signaling clearly when she needs to go outside—a real positive!Yellow Labrador RetrieverMeeting her new foster sibling, Scout, has also been positive. Their initial interactions have been encouraging, with Lacey patiently allowing Scout to get acquainted through some friendly sniffs. Scout is super excited to have a new friend around, and we’re gently ensuring she gives Lacey plenty of needed space to settle comfortably.Yellow Labrador RetrieverAlthough Lacey has just come into heat, we’re keen to gently introduce her to some exercise routines to keep her healthy and happy. We’ll soon be testing out her interest in playing fetch in our yard. Stay tuned for more updates as we get to know Lacey better and prepare her for a wonderful forever home!
