Anne Fox Red Labrador Retriever Female 5 Years Old ID #3521

January 11, 2025

Hi Everyone,

Anne is ready to find her new home. Anne is potty trained, and walks well on lead. She is great in the car and with other dogs. Anne loves people and must say hello to every person we meet. No one is a stranger, just a potential new friend.

Anne loves to snuggle and cuddle with her humans and the resident dogs. Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe loves to play with our resident dog Phoebe and just started to play with Betty. She is a lovely petite little girl weighing less than 60 lbs.

Anne still needs work. She is very rough taking treats. Please use an open palm or toss the treats to her. She also is learning how to do stairs. She is very nervous but I believe once she does it, she will be fine. She is scared and needs some confidence. She eats her food extremely fast. If she is the only dog in the residence, she may be better with a slow feeder. Anne is a terrific girl but a work in progress.

– Anne needs to go to a home where her new family will work with her.

– She needs someone home most of the time. She is crate trained but I don’t want her to be stuck in a crate 6-8 hrs. a day. That would not be fair to her.

– She does have prey drive with bunnies and squirrels. No cats would be best.

– Because she takes treats roughly, no children under 10.

– Anne does not need a fenced in yard.

– Anne does not need a resident dog as long as her new owners give her opportunities to play with other dogs.

– Anne needs a patient family that is willing to work with her and love her. She is so loveable and sweet.

I will really miss her. I only want her to be adored like she should be.

Hi Everyone,

Anne was spayed on Friday and is recovering nicely. It is 4 days post-surgery and the biggest challenge is keeping her quiet. She wants to play with Phoebe so I have my work cut out.

So, Anne is potty trained now, rides great in the car, walks nicely on lead except for minimal zig-zagging. She wants to engage dogs on our walks but if I move her off the path and say leave it, she does well. She really wants to play. She loves all people.

We have met 2 little kids but she was too much for them. She was getting too excited and kept mouthing their hands. So definitely no for little kids. She is sweet but can be over bearing at times. She isn’t like that when we meet adults. I think kids over 11 would be fine.

Anne can do some stairs but she is nervous. She will need someone to help her gain confidence. This is how she was getting in and out of the car and now she has no problem. She will get it.

She is very playful and loves to wrestle and play tug with Phoebe. It’s funny she doesn’t want to play with our golden. It might be the energy level. She can be a lot. I sometimes need to correct Anne not to be so pushy. Her adopters will have to work with her.

She has improved taking treats but this will be a work in progress. She now can catch the treats. I highly recommend either tossing her a treat or using an open palm. She is too rough if you use your fingers.

Anne will be available soon. I think a good fit for her would be;

Someone home mostly. She is finally potty trained but she won’t make it a full 8 hr. day.

Someone that will continue to work with her. She is basically a 5-yr old puppy. She will take the remote sometimes. She doesn’t understand the difference between our toys and her toys. She will get in trouble left to her own devices.

She would enjoy another dog but definitely not a deal breaker. She is fine without a fenced yard. She is very Velcro and really just wants to be with her people.

She is super sweet and happy. Her tail never ever stops wagging. She is a lovely girl who is learning manners.

December 31, 2024

Anne has been with us almost 2.5 weeks and what a difference.

She has had zero accidents, who’s a good girl. Anne is of course! She rides beautifully in the car. We went in a 3 hrs. round trip and she laid in the back chewing a bully stick. Not a peep. I would reach back to scratch her and heard her happy tail thumping away.

We have gone on multiple walks in the woods, parks or neighborhoods. She does not pull unless she sees people. Anne must say hello to everyone. We have encountered deer and other dogs. She wants to engage. If I leave it, she stops and faces me or sits. Then she gets a treat. She is very food motivated.

Speaking of food, she still inhales her food. She knows she is not allowed to eat the resident dog’s food. I block her and she backs off. Prior I had to physically restrain her. She still takes treats like a shark, all teeth. If I use an open flat palm, she is much better. She is learning to catch a treat. This will take a long time to break. Something that will be a work in progress for her new family. I think for Anne, no little kids. She is still mouthy grabbing my hands or kissing them especially if we were out and she has to be crated. She responds to correction but she goes right back at it again. Again, another thing to work on with her new family.

She is very sweet; she loves to snuggle. She is great with Betty and Phoebe. She can get a little crazy while playing with Phoebe.

I have to intervene or give her a toy. I imagine she played a lot on the farm and wrestled with the other dogs. There were probably no toys so if you give her the toy then she offers it to Phoebe to play tug. Yet with Betty she peacefully coexists.

I think she picks up on Phoebe’s energy. I do think she would be fine without a resident dog but she needs to have friends. So, daycare, dog parks, or friends with dogs are fine. I want her to be able to play because it gives her much joy.

She really is a wonderful girl. She is a work in progress. She will need her new family to help her. I feel that an experienced family will be better suited to Anne needs. She will need help navigating stairs. She can do it but she is scared.

Anne will be spayed on Jan 3rd and will be posted once she is recovered.

Stay tuned.

Hi Everyone,

Yellow Labrador RetrieverWell Anne seems to be finding her groove as a house dog. She loves sleeping in a bed with us. She will lie on her back and get lots of belly rubs. She has a very furry belly so it’s hard to resist.

She has no issue getting in and out of the car. She is an excellent passenger. We have gone on many excursions together. She walks nicely on lead. She still zig-zags but each walk gets better. The only time she pulls is when she sees squirrels, bunnies, and deer. She wants to chase them down. She does not care about birds, duck, horses or geese. She looks at them and we walk on by. She loves to say hello to everyone. Because Anne has prey drive, I am going to say no cats in her new home.

We have had 3 days without any pee accidents. We take her out every 2 hrs. or after a big play, eat or sleep. We mark her positive behavior with a cookie.

On the subject of food, she gets over stimulated with food. She inhales her meals.

We have tried slow feeders and snuffle mats They seem to make her more agitated. We went back to feeding her out of a regular dog bowl. We need to make sure she doesn’t try to eat Phoebe or Betty’s food. She will if she gets a chance. I have to think that she had to eat fast so other dogs wouldn’t get her food. She is very rough when taking treats. I would say no little kids. She will accidentally nip them when she steals their food.  Kids over 12 would be best. She can be very grabby even if you have nothing in your had. Lab puppy behavior.

She loves Phoebe and Betty. She prefers to wrestle with Phoebe.

Sometimes she can be too much, that’s when I intervene. She wants to play so she may not be a good fit with a senior dog who wants to peacefully coexist. She would be fine living without a resident dog as long as she gets playtime with other dogs.

Basically, Anne is still a puppy who needs to learn boundaries and will need a family to continue to work with her. She needs someone home more often since potty training is relatively new. She is very affectionate. She loves to cuddle with her humans. She is a lovely girl who is a work in progress.

FM doing the blog today.

Yellow Labrador Retriever

Anne is beginning to adjust to life has a house dog. She is jumping up less on me and on the counters. The only time she jumps up is when we are preparing their meals. She gets very overstimulated with the arrival of dinner. She also inhales her food. It is pretty impressive; she could win in a hot dog eating contest. We transitioned her to a slow feeder. She eats slower but she gets very wound up trying to get every bit of kibble. We are now trying a snuffle mat. That seems to slow her down some and she seems a little more relaxed while eating.

We are also working on her being gentle when taking treats. I put the treat in my palm and my thumb to cover the treat. It causes her to use her mouth instead of her teeth. It’s a work in progress. She is very grabby when she gets excited so we correct her each time.

We have also made progress with her potty training. She still has an accident but it is less frequent. So far it has been once or twice a day and it’s always on tile or wood. Better than going on the rug.

We have gone for 2 walks. She zig-zags a lot but she is learning. She reacts when dogs bark at her but she is easily controlled with redirection. However, squirrels are her nemesis. She wants to get them. Today at Peace Valley Park we passed lots of ducks and geese. She did not care at all, unfortunately we didn’t see any  squirrels. It would have been nice to see if she would have gone after them again. I am not sure if a home with cats would be a good match for her.  She had to say hello to everyone person she passed. She was a big hit.

She will hang out in her crate if I am working or if we go out for a few hours. Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe does not like sleeping in it. She gets very upset so. we only use it when we go out for a few hours. Anne is now snoozing in our bed but she is an excellent sleeper. I don’t want her to have free roam at night since she is not reliable in the house yet.

Anne is very playful. She and Phoebe are beginning to wrestle and play tug. She and Betty peacefully coexist. She really likes to play. I think a playful resident dog in her new home or daycare if there was no resident dog would be great for her.

I am really happy with the progress Anne is making in such a short time. It’s been less than 1 week. I think Anne will be very popular. She is beautiful and sweet. She is petite only 68lbs. She loves other dogs. I am looking forward to seeing what the next few weeks hold.

December 8, 2024Yellow Labrador Retriever

Anne has just arrived at our house. She is a beautiful 5 yr old fox red lab with beautiful fur. The colors are striking. She is very sweet and a big wiggle butt. She wags her tail like a propeller.

This is her first time being in a house but she is doing great. She is learning about potty training. It’s a challenge for sure. She is also very mouthy and is rough taking treat. So, we have our work cut out for us. She also wants to put her paws up on the counter to see what could be up there. She is learning off or no. We started some crate training. She spent last night in the crate. She cried and barked a little but settled down and slept all night. I am really pleased how well she is acclimating.

She has made friends with the resident dogs Betty and Phoebe. Phoebe is doing lots of play bow trying to engage her. This morning, she play bowed back. I think she and Phoebe will have some fun. Betty seems very happy to see her as well.

We will work on her training and get her used to life off the farm. Stay tuned for more. Once Anne is comfortable, she can take over the blog.
