Mittens had a couple of busy days. Mittens and her sisters were brought to the vet on March 3 to get spay. They have come a really long way thanks to their foster working on their socialization and leash skills.
Mittens does well on the leash and took the vet appointment all in stride.
The next day the girls were picked up and were super happy to see foster Mom and Dad!

Mittens and her sisters, Wynter, Iclyn, and Gusty are all staying in the side yard away from the other dogs since they are still unaltered and we don’t need any accidental litters coming along.
The girls all like hanging out together and playing chase with each other. Especially Mittens, and Gusty and sometimes Iclyn.
Mittens and Gusty especially like to have a game of chase.
Mittens likes to chill on her dog bed when she ready to take a rest from all the playing. When it’s time to clean out their pen, they all like to supervise. I imagine their conversation goes something like this:
Gusty: Yall think she needs helping cleaning our pen?
Iclyn: She looks like she’s doing fine.
Mittens: We can supervise
Wynter: Word!

Mittens had a hard start to life. Her parents are outside dogs in Arkansas, and Mittens and her littermates were not wanted or cared for by their owner, and were left to fend for themselves. When they were found by a good Samaritan, they were underweight and full of worms. They are now currently in a foster home with a rescue in AR who reached out to Brookline to help rehome them. Mittens has gained weight and has been treated medically and is now waiting for her forever family to come along.
Mittens can be shy with new people but with time trusts her caretakers and loves attention. Mittens is usually the first of the litter to run over to get pets and give out some kisses when her people are near.
She also loves to play with toys with her people and her littermates. A friendly game of tug with her littermates is one of her favorite things to do! Mittens would do best with a furry friend in the home to help build her confidence and trust in her new people.
Mittens would love to learn all about the joys of living indoors and what it’s like to be loved on by her people.
The litter is currently living in a shed with a fenced run and they keep their living quarters clean. She is food motivated so she should house train readily.Mittens is good with other dogs but has not been exposed to cats.
Please give this sweet girl a chance to find out what it’s like to be loved and warm and safe in a home of her own!
