SUMMARY:Memorial Day
DESCRIPTION:Memorial Day is a cherished U.S. tradition\, honoring those who’ve sacrificed their lives in military service. As Memorial Day 2025 approaches\, let’s reflect on its significance. Traditions and Ways to Honor include: \n\nVisiting Cemeteries: Place flags or flowers on soldiers’ graves.\nMoment of Silence: At 3 p.m.\, pause to honor military sacrifices.\nLearn & Reflect: Explore Memorial Day history and stories of service.\nSupport Veterans: Volunteer or donate to veteran-support organizations.\nCreate Tributes: Write\, paint\, or compose in honor of fallen soldiers.\nJoin Events: Attend parades\, memorial services\, or volunteer locally.\n\nMemorial Day is a powerful reminder of freedom’s cost and military bravery. As we observe Memorial Day 2025\, let’s unite to honor their courage and support veterans and their families. \n#BrooklineLabs #MemorialDay2025

SUMMARY:National Microchipping Month
DESCRIPTION:Around 10 million pets are lost or stolen in the US every year. Microchipping can significantly improve your chances of reuniting with your lost pet. While only 22% of lost dogs without a chip return home\, over 52% with a microchip do. How It Works: A microchip\, the size of a rice grain\, is inserted under your pet’s skin. It holds a unique ID that vets or shelters can scan to access your contact info.\n\n\n \n\n\nBenefits:\n\n\n• Permanent ID that can’t be lost\n\n\n• Quick\, painless procedure\n\n\n• Greatly improves chances of reunion\n\n\n• Provides peace of mind\n\n\n \n\n\nGet Started:\n\n\n1. Talk to your vet\n\n\n2. Schedule a quick appointment\n\n\n3. Register the chip and update your contact info as needed\n\n\n \n\n\nDuring National Microchipping Month this June\, consider microchipping to protect your furry friend. It’s an investment in their safety and your peace of mind!\n\n\n \n\n\n#BrooklineLabs #NationalMicrochippingMonth

SUMMARY:National Lost Pet Prevention Month
DESCRIPTION:Hey everyone! 👋 Did you know July is Lost Pet Prevention Month? It’s a great time to raise awareness and take steps to ensure our canine companions stay safe and sound. Losing a dog is a heartbreaking experience. Please take steps to minimize the risk! \n✅Microchipping and visible ID tags are your first line of defense! Make sure your contact information is current in the microchip registry and on the tags. \n🏡 A secure fence is crucial for preventing escapes. Dogs can be surprisingly adept at finding ways out of seemingly secure yards. Regular maintenance will keep your dog safe. \n🚶Leashes are a must for walks! Even well-trained dogs can get spooked or distracted. A leash ensures they stay by your side. \n🗣️ Recall training can be a lifesaver! A reliable recall command can bring your dog back to you in unexpected situations. Practice regularly in a safe\, enclosed area. \n🚨 Be aware of potential triggers that might cause your dog to bolt. Fireworks\, thunderstorms\, and other loud noises can be terrifying for dogs. Keep them indoors and provide a safe\, comfortable space during these events. \n#BrooklineLabs #LostDogAwareness #LostDogAwarenessMonth

DESCRIPTION:Gus is our dog of the month for August. \nThis 61 lb. black Lab mix is equal parts energy and snuggle. Gus is great with adults and gentle with kids\, and he’s a loyal protector who’ll let you know when someone’s at the door. 🏡 He’d thrive as your one-and-only dog in a quiet suburban home with a fenced yard where he can run and play to his heart’s content! \nHis foster family has been working with him to improve his social skills when encountering other dogs on walks in the neighborhood\, 🚶and he has been making some progress. Gus loves being with his peeps and needs a home where his people are home more often than not. Ready to make Gus part of your family? 💖You can learn more about Gus\, our adoption process\, and our coverage area on our website http://brooklinelabrescue.org.

SUMMARY:National Check the Chip Day
DESCRIPTION:According to the American Veterinary Medical Association\, 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen in the US every year. Research indicates that only 22% of lost dogs in shelters were returned to their families\, but that percentage rose to more than 52% when a dog is microchipped. \n\n\n \n\n\nAlthough 1 in 3 family pets will get lost\, only 6 out of 10 microchips are registered. A microchip only works if it is registered and the information is accurate. Please check with your pet’s microchip company to be sure your contact information is up to date.\n\n\n \n\n\n#BrooklineLabs #NationalCheckTheChipDay

SUMMARY:Animal Pain Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:Animals suffer from pain just like people do. Pain comes in many forms: surgical pain\, arthritis\, and cancer-related pain\, just to name a few.  Acute pain is obvious and distressing. Chronic pain can be subtle and masked as “getting old” or “slowing down.” Old age is not a disease\, but pain is. There are various options to treat the causes of pain in animals\, including pain medications\, physical rehabilitation\, acupuncture\, laser therapy\, and therapeutic massage. Learn to recognize the signs of pain in your pet and consult your veterinarian about ways to treat pain. \n#BrooklineLabs #AnimalPainAwareness
