Adopting a Lab through Brookline is a thoughtful, personalized process. Here’s the journey at a glance:

1. Coverage Area Check Make sure you’re in an area our volunteers can reach for a home visit.
2. Apply Online Submit your application; a volunteer will contact you to schedule your home visit.
3. Home Visit Meet your volunteer, discuss what you’re looking for, and ensure the environment is a good fit.
4. Reference Checks We verify vet and personal references to ensure responsible pet care.
5. Approval Our committee reviews your application and home visit summary.
6. Finding Your Lab Your volunteer helps you explore available dogs and identify good matches.
7. Matching Process Foster families review interested applicants and choose the best fit for each Lab.
8. Introduction Meet the Lab with your family and pets at a neutral location.
9. Pre-Adoptive Period (2 Weeks) Take the Lab home for a trial period and complete a baseline vet visit.
10. Final Adoption A volunteer visits again; if everything aligns, you sign the Adoption Agreement.
