Lars is a great house guest. He loves to go outside and play ball, but when he’s inside he loves hanging out on the couch with you. Lars likes to keep you in his sight. When doing farm chores, he is right by my side. When I go into my pastures, he waits at the gate keeping an eye out for me.
We took Lars for a walk around the block a few days ago and he did well. He was very excited to go for a walk. He pulls slightly from the enthusiasm but if you give him a slight correction he walks nicely. He is very easy to walk on a leash. My girls have walked him around for me with no issues. Lars takes daily walks to the bus stop to pick up the girls. We have introduced him to a few neighbors that walk by when we are out.
Last night, Lars had his neuter surgery. Everything went well and the vet said he was very well behaved for them. He is recovering well today.
Lars really enjoys my daughters’ attention. The other night my daughter Dallas was playing with him by wrapping a blanket around him. Lars was in his glory and walking around with his blanket. It was adorable to see them together.
Today Dallas is not feeling well and Lars keeps a close eye on her, following her around and staying by her side.
I think Lars would really enjoy a family with children. He loves all the attention he’s been getting. He also takes his job seriously of keeping watch over the family. Anytime someone gets up Lars will follow and check on them.
I’ve put together a short video of some of the pictures and videos I have taken of Lars since he’s been with us.

Lars has been a pleasure to foster these past few days. He is such a loving and obedient dog. Lars is a great guardian for his household. Lars is always watching every family member and making sure he knows where everyone is. He will check on members when they leave his sight. At night he prefers to sleep in the hallway between our rooms to keep watch. It really warms my heart to see him care for us so much already.
We were unsure how Lars would handle his first day alone since he was used to having many dogs in his previous home. However, he did really well while we were away. I checked on him throughout the day on our camera and saw that he was relaxed and napping. We have a crate in our family room with a bed and toys and we have been leaving the door open for him to check out. Lars has not been crated with us and shows no interest in the crate. When we leave for extended periods of time, we have left him in our kitchen so that we can monitor him and he has done fine with no issues. I left him free range of the kitchen and family room today while doing a short shopping trip and he was fine and actually slept on the kitchen floor the whole time.
Lars is not a fan of dog food items. He is not interested in dry food or wet food, and dog treats don’t really excite him. I have noticed that he is much more excited when he sees people food, so I believe he was given a lot more people food in his previous home. To get him to eat his dog food I’ve added warm people food such as cooked egg, ground beef, chicken and rice to his dog food then he will eat it. The couple of cold food items I offered him to eat he was not interested in.
Lars absolutely loves playing ball. He is very gentle when playing so that the kids can play with him. My girls also have been practicing walking him and he is very good with them. Lars has a big heart and is very loyal and loving to his family.

Lars is a very sweet and affectionate chocolate lab. He instantly took to everyone in our family. He seems to be more attached to me than my husband so I believe that in his previous home the wife may have done more with him.
He is doing extremely well with my daughters and loves all the attention.
He is constantly making sure he knows where everyone is. Lars loves playing ball. He also got very excited over a squeaky ball we had. He did very well meeting the horses but was wary of them due to their size.
He also did very well checking out our peafowl and chickens. The birds were very vocal and flapping about after seeing our new house guest but Lars did not get excited, he instead just smelled the air and pointed at them like a classic bird dog. Once inside he met our ferret through the cage and just gave him a sniff. Lars has not barked through all of this excitement. He is a very gentle and easy going guy. He has a great recall, as soon as someone calls him he is right there with you. He is very eager to please. He knows the command sit very well also. He did want to rush through the door to go outside which may just be the excitement from today but we are working on sit and stay and waiting for the command to go when going outside or through gates, etc. He is catching on fast to what we are asking. He walks very well on the leash around our yard. Will update when we take him off the property. We have not had any accidents in the house at this time. We have taken him outside a few times and he has done a lot of marking of the area but no pooping yet. Lars loves the couch, he couldn’t wait to come up and cuddle with everyone. He waited to find out if he was allowed when he first got here but you could read his mind that he was wanting to come up. We are looking forward to seeing him settle in more over the next few days and getting to know him better.
