Misty #12 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 7 Years Old ID#3703

Yellow Labrador RetrieverMeet Misty! This beautiful Red Fox yellow purebred Labrador has just left her breeding days on the farm behind her. Misty and her grandson, Trooper were surrendered by their breeder as he wants to downsize and end his own breeding days. Misty is now in a Brookline foster home.  Please read her blog from the bottom up to learn more about her while in foster care.

Two wonderful Brookline volunteers picked up Misty and her grandson, Trooper, from the farm yesterday. She was surrendered since the farmer wants to downsize and won’t be breeding. Misty had her last litter 1.5 years ago and gave birth to 4 puppies.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe is an amazingly sweet, calm and petite girl (despite her 80 lbs) who wants pets and belly rubs. Yellow Labrador RetrieverMisty was wonderful for the 1 hr car ride home and laid down in the back seat and napped. She is great on the leash and is learning not to zigzag when walking. She barely pulls and looks for cues when being walked. She was a little bit afraid of the cars, trucks, and other dogs we passed on our walks and leaned into me for reassurance. She has adapted very well to life in a home and is not skittish.

She hasn’t had a single accident in the house, eats her meals calmly and slowly (shocking for a lab!), and enjoys being brushed. I used a misting brush and I swear her eyes rolled back into her head.  Misty was great for her shower last night and we are slowly getting the farm fug off.  She takes treats so very gently and looks up with her big, beautiful brown eyes. It’s so easy to fall in love with this beautiful girl.Yellow Labrador RetrieverMisty knows the “paw” command and will flip onto her side for belly rubs. Her teeth are in great shape and her nails had been recently trimmed (bonus!)

She slept calmly all night snoring the whole time! She still has to learn the joys of a soft comfy dog bed and chose to sleep on the rug last night instead.Yellow Labrador RetrieverWe will be introducing toys soon. We are giving this beautiful lady time to decompress from the farm life she’s known her whole life.

I can’t wait to see how she blossoms every day!
