Simba is doing well at BCK. He was neutered last week so he’s still recovering. He gets a break from training for another 5 days.
Simba is very sweet but still a puppy in a big dog body. We have been working on sit, down and stand. He is solid on the first two.
We have been working on loose lead walking as well. He is doing well except if he sees a butterfly. He turns into Tigger leaping in the air to pounce on it. I have been using a slip lead and a harness to keep Tigger near.
Simba needs to work on his manners. He is very mouthy especially when he doesn’t want put on his harness. He is in what they call the terrible teens stage. Neutering will help and in a few weeks he should be a more calm. We will keep working on the mouthiness.
He is a cute guy and eager to please. Whoever adopts this guy will need a trainer. He will make an excellent dog for a lucky family.

Simba is starting to calm down with the exercise and attention.
He spent more time sniffing than running today. After about 15 minutes of letting him play in the yard, I took him for a walk.
It went much better than it has the last few days. Instead of pulling constantly, now he’s just pulling once in awhile.
He’s very affectionate and loves cuddles! He responds well to “come,” “sit,” and “down” so far. We are working on “wait” at gates and doors.

Simba got to meet and play with Teddy today! He was a little shy at first, but warmed up quickly. He was a very player, except trying to do some mounting periodically…

Simba had his first time going out to the big yard to play and he loves it!

He was running in spurts as fast as his legs could take him. Fortunately, even when he was racing at top speed towards me, he had great body awareness and didn’t plow into me once!
Simba is very, very friendly with people. He gets so excited to see them that sometimes he jumps up and can be a little bit mouthy but nothing too rough.
He’s very curious about everything! He knows “sit” and is working on “down” with a lure, but he needs practice with leash walking. We’ll definitely be working on his leash skills here at Kamp.

Simba had his rescue today. First stop was the vet.
Simba then headed off to Kamp where he is going to learn all his good doggie manners! He had quite a busy day!
