Tasha #3 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 6 Years Old ID #3520
August 15, 2025
Tasha is now officially retired from being a breeder mama!
She had her spay today and is quietly recovering at home. She was very groggy when she returned home last night, but is moving around better today.
All of the staff at the vet’s office said she was the sweetest and a real trooper. They sent photos to show her progression throughout the day!
Stand by for more as she recovers from her surgery!

Tasha is continuing her transformation from farm mamma to homebody. She is a quick learner!
Tasha had all of her pre surgery tests and will be getting spayed next week. Then she will be officially retired. She was very good at all of her vet visits and all the staff loved on her! The vet uses a jar of baby food to distract the dog, and Tasha loved that!
Tasha loves exploring the neighborhood on her nightly walks and has become very good on the leash. She likes to walk next to Kelce while we walk and smell around.
She does like to sleep and cuddle up at the bottom of the stairs. She has perfected a number of sleeping positions, but upside down is her favorite! She will also squeeze her way onto a bed already occupied but since she is so petite, slips right in.
Some things we found out about her:
- All treats need to be dropped on the floor before eating. We learned that she likes them in smaller pieces.
- Not as food motivated as usual Lab.
- Very curious.
- An alert barker! Barks when strangers come in the house. Also lies on our back deck and barks at people walking by.
More to come as Tasha gets ready to find her forever home!

Tasha is continuing her journey from breeder mamma to family member. She is really fitting in here with her foster sisters and learning the ropes from them.
Thing we have learned about Tash over the last few weeks:
- Tasha is a very smart girl. She is a quick learner!
- She lives to chase rabbits and squirrels! Not one comes into our yard without running for the hills!
- She had her first vet appointment and was a trooper. Tasha was a very good patient. She had some shots and was poked and prodded. All tests came back negative too.

- Tasha loves to get a rug, shirt, or towel and make it hers. We wake up every morning with our bath mat in the living room! She even gets stuff out of bags!
- Tasha will chew up paper goods, books, pamphlets. Well, anything left too low can be a victim!
- Tasha loves to explore! Be careful leaving the door open or she will be at the neighbors!
- Tasha has not had an accident in the house since day three! She knows outside is the place for that.
- Tasha is getting really good and leash walking. She is a little excited at first, but loves walking next to her foster sister Kelce as we explore the area around home. We go for a walk every night and she waits for her harness to be put on! All of our girls look forward to this part of the day.
- Tasha needs a fenced yard. She loves to get out and explore!
- A resident dog will help, but not necessary.
- Tasha love to sleep cuddled at the bottom of our stairs. She will even sleep with her head on the first step and upside down. Snores with the best of them!

- Tasha likes to follow you around. She likes to know where you are going, but usually goes back to her favorite place and go back to sleep.

- Tasha has a little bump on her nose. Not sure what happened, but it does not bother her.
- Tasha is learning about reflections. She barks at herself in the glass on out tv stand. Also, if she sees a reflection in the front windows from the tv. She is funny!
Tasha is awaiting an appointment for her spay and then will be ready for adoption after her recovery. I hope this information helps for any interested families. She will make a good companion.

Tasha is really settling in with us. She is learning how to be a family dog from our two resident pups. Tasha has really calmed down from her first day with us.
Tasha continues to like to drag stuff around. Throw rugs, blankets, or toys are all fair game. She does like to carry a toy around the most!
A few landmarks for her so far:
- She gets the run of the house at night. She sleeps with our two dogs. She also was good alone during the day for an hour or so!
- She quickly picked up going up and down stairs. She went up and was afraid to come back down. She then went up and down on her own. Now she goes up and down like a pro. We have never had a dog learn this fast!
- She knows that outside is for her to go. No more accidents!
Things she needs to work on:
- Leash walking. Ok, but needs more practice. We walk every night, so should get better.
- She will try to get out the front door. Again, she is learning. She loves to follow you so we feel this will get better too!
Overall, Tasha is a quick learner and very smart. She will make a great friend and companion. She is very active and likes to run around outside.

Tasha is a beautiful, petite white English Lab about 60 lbs. She is 6 years old. Her breeding days are now over.
The ride home was uneventful. She was scared, but did manage to sit for a while and then lay down in the back seat.
Tasha’s intro with our two labs also went well. Kelce and Evie both welcomed her into the home. Actually, they did not care so much that another dog had joined us!
Tasha explored the backyard for a while.
She ran around sniffing and checking out all of the new smells! It was then time to try to get her inside.
For the first time ever for us, a farm girl came into the house with no coaxing. She then did the same sniffing around. She decided everything was up to par. We found that Tasha likes to carry things around. Drag around the dog beds, or take a small carpet for a walk around the house. We found some toys for her to carry around, and she loved them!
Tasha did have an accident, but she was nervous and drinking a lot of water. She then went out back and went about five more times. We found that she likes lying outside in the dirt.
We did go out for our nightly walk, and Tasha did well. She did need some leash guidance, but walking alongside Kelce also helped. She just wants to wander and discover some new stuff.
Tasha is finally resting after our walk. She is our shadow right now, but we’ll see if this changes.
