Trila #3 Silver Labrador Retriever Female 8 Years Old ID #3609
Meet Trila! Trila is a beautiful, 70lb, eight year old silver Labrador who is need of a foster home. Trila lived on a breeding farm and was recently rehomed to a new owner as the original owners no longer had the time or finances to care for her. The new owner now needs to rehome them as she is not interacting well with the barn cats on the property.
Trila is very sweet and friendly. Trila was excellent with the 3 young children (5yrs-7mths old) that lived on the farm and she is easy going, friendly and eager to socialize with other dogs.
Trila currently has free roam on the farm, and stays in the garage so she will need to be house trained while in foster care. She is not afraid to go through doors and walks nicely on a slip leash.
Trila loves to be petted and get attention. Please read the blog from the bottom up.

We have officially had Trila for one week!
She has been doing fantastic. She continues to do well with using the potty outside and has had no accidents so far. Trila had a quiet and restful weekend recovering from her spay surgery. Today, she started back up with short walks and is already showing improvement while walking on a leash. She remains calm and sweet, enjoying her time lounging around.
She did test boundaries by trying to jump on our bed, which we do not allow. However, she is permitted on the couch and has been happily jumping up there for some comfy lounging. Trila enjoys lying with her head on FD’s lap while on the couch.

Trila’s spay surgery went well on Thursday, April 30th. She’s been resting and getting better at her foster home, and wearing her “cone of shame” while she heals. On Friday, May 1st, she’s already more awake, has more energy, and has her appetite back.
Trila is still doing great with her house training and hasn’t had any accidents inside. We are waiting longer between bathroom trips to help her learn. She still enjoys carrying her ball around, but doesn’t like staying in her crate for more than a quick treat. She still sleeps through the whole night without needing to go outside. She’s been mostly sleeping between potty breaks and getting pets. She’s a sweet girl and would be a good fit for a home looking for a lower-energy pup.

Trila had another good 24 hours. We are still working on crate training as she seems very uninterested in going inside. Still no accidents in the house and we have widened the times between potty breaks. The video is of her playing fetch. She’ll chase the ball and bring it back, but getting her to give the ball up is hard. She has the ball most the of time even wandering around our house. It seems to be her favorite toy. Walking on leash is also a work in progress, but she’s very stimulated while on walks with all of the new smells. Bloodwork came back from the vet today. She is heartworm negative, no lyme or other tick related diseases and overall everything looks good. We will get the fecal results back tomorrow. She is all set for her spay appointment tomorrow. She remains the sweetest girl that just wants pets and love.

Trila had a good day helping FD work from home. She mostly rested and slept. She went outside to potty every few hours because she’s learning to only use the bathroom outside. She went on a walk of over a mile with FD and enjoyed sniffing. She’s still learning to walk on a leash and pulled a bit. She’s also learning she can’t wander into other people’s yards. She likes to follow us and is doing well, considering she’s used to living on a farm.

Trila had a long first day on Monday. She was rescued from a farm, and we picked her up in Lancaster County. She didn’t like getting in the car, but she did relax during the drive.
She got a bath at TSC after about a 45-minute drive. She walked well on her leash in the store, but didn’t like being lifted into the washing area. She handled the water and washing okay, and we did our best because we had a vet appointment later. Then, we drove 45 minutes from TSC to the vet. She was great at the vet; they even said it didn’t seem like her first visit, even though it might have been. Her weight was 65 lbs. We are waiting for her blood and fecal test results. The vet workers removed many ticks from her. We got home, and Trila explored the yard and house. She ate some food, drank water, and went outside to potty. Trila is still learning about the crate. She doesn’t want to go in, even with treats and toys. FD slept on the couch, and Trila slept on the floor in the same room all night. There were no accidents overnight or on the first day.
