National Disaster Preparedness Month

Originally started in 2004 by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), this month focuses on proactive actions that people can take in advance of emergencies or disasters.

For a pet owner, these may include special considerations such as:

• creating evacuation plans for your pet(s)
• including pet supplies, veterinary records, and other important information in your emergency kit
• making a plan with friends or neighbors to help make sure each other’s pets are accounted for
• staying up-to-date on information so you can make the best decision for you and your pet(s)
