Bailey #28 Chocolate Labrador Retriever Female 4.5 Years Old ID#3294

Chocolate Labrador RetrieverMeet Bailey!  Bailey is a beautiful 58lb purebred chocolate Labrador whose owner needs to re-home her due to some recent life changes.  Due to these changes, Bailey was spending 8 hours home alone which meant she was not getting the companionship or exercise that she needs.  To learn more about Bailey while in foster care, please read her blog from the bottom up.

Bailey is now available: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/bailey-28-63578efa-2a2c-41c5-8b8a-537ce1594b85/pa/warrington/brookline-labrador-rescue-pa06/details/

Bailey was adopted from a breeder in Lancaster at 10 weeks old and lived in a loving home for almost 4 years. She was raised along side a another dog and cat, she coexisted with the cat perfectly. Her owners worked opposite shifts which allowed for someone to always be home with Bailey. Due to recent circumstances, Bailey and her mom had to move into a small apartment adjacent to her parent’s house. While mom is at work,  Bailey is left alone for 8 hours a day and it was taking its toll on both of them. It was with a heavy heart Bailey’s mom decided to surrender her in hopes a loving family would come along and give her the attention she needs. It is evident how much Bailey was adored as her loving personality really shines through.

Chocolate LabradorNow onto the perfect family for Bailey:

Bailey would do best in an active or moderately active family who will be able to give her mental and physical stimulation. She LOVES to go on walks and loves to go on any adventure as long as she’s with her people. Her favorite activity is to sniff and explore every inch of the back yard and house. She might even do well as a search dog or some sort of working dog since she is so motivated to please.

Bailey would do best in a home without small children as she does jump up on people when excited. Children 12+ would be best as she will also steal food if it is easily available.

Bailey would do well with a calm, confident dog but it is not required. She is very attached to her people and does not rely on our resident dogs for comfort or reassurance. Her play style can be a little rambunctious for some dogs, so a calm dog would be best. She would do great as an only dog too as she wants all your attention. Bailey also previously lived with a cat and did well.Chocolate LabradorBailey would do best in a home where someone is home throughout the day or most of the day. I do not think she has separation anxiety, but she can get upset when her people are out of sight while still in the house. She is a total snuggle bug and would rather spend her time cuddled up against you.

Bailey does not require a fenced in yard but daily walks and time to explore are essential. She doesn’t stray far even within the backyard, she just wants to sniff everything.

Bailey’s only “setback” are her seizures. They are under control with medication which her owner has provided a month-sized pill organizer. The organizer holds 30 days worth of medicine with each day having an AM and PM compartment. It is incredible!Chocolate LabradorShe is the sweetest piece of chocolate you can find. Bailey checking in for day 3 with foster mom and my own personal welcome committee (3 furry friends).   I am settling in more and more as each hour passes.  Today was an interesting day – I was much more vocal and active with wanting to go outside today –  and who could blame me – it was a beautiful day and my chocolate brown coat glistened in the sun.  We (me and my furry squad) were in and out quite often today.  I would even just go out to soak up the sun, play and chase squad in the back yard.  I was running circles around BLRR foster-fail Lila.    FM says she’s not the quickest gal in the house but she certainly is the sweetest.

I continue to signal when I need to go potty and my bedtime is around 10 pm.  I sleep all night and get up anywhere between 7 am and 8 am and ready to start my day with squad.   I am continuing to take my meds at 8:30 am/9 am (shortly after I’m done my breakfast) and at 8:30 pm/9 pm with no problem.   My pills are divided into a daily container that has numbers for the day of the month with a top compartment and a bottom compartment.  It is so neat and colorful and I’ll bring that with me to my forever home!

Tonight after dinner, I took a 1.5 mile walk.  WOWZA!  My nose was glued to the sidewalk and lawns we passed on our walk.  I was so busy sniffing, especially the fire hydrants, that I didn’t do my business at all.  I passed over two streams and heard the water swishing along.  I wanted to check it out however they were down an embankment and I was told “nope – not today”.   FM thinks if the pool was open in the back yard I might just take a little swim.  When we got back, I went into the back yard and promptly took care of business and ran inside so I could let squad know how much fun the walk was.Chocolate Labrador Retriever Chocolate Labrador RetrieverChocolate Labrador RetrieverFM is going to chime in now – I think I may have left a topic or two for her to discuss plus I need a little nap after my walk.  So until next time ~ Beautiful Brown-Eyed Bailey.  Chocolate Labrador RetrieverBailey has been a pleasure to have over the past few days.  She is responsive to her name, gentle correction and goes with the flow of the rest of the pack in the house.  Her nose/head is at the perfect height of our kitchen table so we must remind her “down” so she doesn’t appear to be table surfing.  We are making sure she does not have any type of table food or anything that may cause itching.  She did have a piece of american cheese the first night and was scratching a bit into the night.  Since then, she’s been pretty good.  She takes all of her medicine like a champ and will stroll into her crate but doesn’t stay long.  She prefers being out and about with everyone and so far she has not been left alone – someone has been around.  We may try and leave her for a bit and see how she does.  We continue to feed her separately and upgraded her slow feeder to a larger one.  She’s a very quick eater even with the larger slow feeder.

Bailey really loved the walk tonight – and is a true lab who uses her nose to smell and track everything!  I thought it was just our house and yard but she’s a very bright, inquisitive gal.  After the walk and potty in the back yard, she came in and curled up for a little nap.  Although she’s 4.5 yrs old (she’ll be 5 on 7/5!) she’s very much a typical lab and would make a great addition to an active family.  When it’s time to relax and take a break – she’s flexible and flowing and will curl up beside you and when you get her harness out, she’s ready to go!  Bailey does jump from time to time when she’s happy to see you and we are working on that.  At 57 lbs, Bailey is a sleek strong gal so make sure you have a good hold on the leash.  She’s ready to greet anyone at the door with kisses when they return from work with the rest of our dogs and even was lined up at the gate today when the pizza delivery person came with dinner.

Bailey is on several medicines for her seizures and the vet feels as though her seizures may lessen or go away once she’s spayed.   She wants nothing more than to give you all the love she has and spend her days being a beloved pet.   She can be an only dog or have an easy going friend/companion.

Bailey #28 here!

It was my second full day in my foster home and I am starting to get the hang of things around here! I noticed that every time the resident dogs have to go potty, they stand at the back door and bark to go out. I was a little confused, like what was so great about this door? I am learning it leads to the back yard where we potty and play and I always get a treat when I come back in. I’m not the biggest fan of going potty by myself, I wait for FM to walk down with me then I know it’s time to go.

During the day, FM had to go to work so I was at home with FB (foster brother) who kept me company along with the resident dogs. I rotated between exploring, sniffing, and sleeping until FM came home and I was so happy to see her! FB did rat me out as I may have eaten a roll off the counter.  What can I say, I was making myself at home. Meanwhile, FM really does give the best butt scratches….I think it’s those nails of hers but I’m not complaining! Chocolate Labrador Retriever Chocolate Labrador RetrieverChocolate Labrador RetrieverAs you may have read, I have to take medicine for a special condition and I take my meds like a pro – placed on a spoon with some soft yummy cheese and I leave a clean spoon when I’m done.  The cheese is very yummy and as far as I can tell, I’m the only one that gets that special treat.  I really am a good girl and I have some of the biggest brown eyes that will melt your heart.  I’m a special sweetheart looking for my forever home.   Until one comes along, I’ll just relax here with the rest of the resident pack and use my big brown eyes to garner a few extra treats.

Hello all, Bailey #28 here reporting from my foster home! Chocolate Labrador RetrieverI have been in my foster home for a little over 24 hours and I have settled in pretty well. Last night, I arrived and I explored the backyard by myself then met the three, yes three, doggy residents.  All my fur siblings have been so welcoming towards me but especially Hollie and Lila who showed me where the snacks are. Walking up the deck steps was no problem for me so once inside, I explored the first floor of the house with encouragement from FM. I ate dinner and even pooped outside! It just took me a few laps around the yard to find a spot to potty since all the grass is covered by this snow stuff.Chocolate Labrador RetrieverChocolate Labrador RetrieverOnce it was bedtime, I was glad FM had a big bed for me to leap into. I explored my crate which looked comfy and all but I prefer to cuddle up under the covers to sleep. I readjusted myself a few times but slept in until about 8am. As soon as I woke up, I made sure FM was still next to me, thank gosh she was, then it was time to start the day.Chocolate Labrador RetrieverToday mostly consisted of exploring inside/outside, giving lots of kisses, getting butt scratches, and snuggly time on the couch.  Once FM plops down on the couch, I am right there giving kisses and asking for cuddles. I  do love exploring the kitchen and watching what everyone is doing and sniffing what is on the counter.  FM reminds me to get down and I listen very well.  While it has only been 24 hours, I think I am liking this whole foster home thing!Chocolate Labrador RetrieverSweet dreams and catch ya tomorrow,

<3 Bailey #28

December 31, 2025

Bailey was found at just 10 weeks old at an Amish farm. She was all alone curled up in a little straw bed in a cow barn. I knew I couldn’t leave her there, so she came home with me. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverFrom that moment on Bailey has been attached to my hip, she’s my little shadow. Her favorite thing to do is to snuggle. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverIf I’m covered in a blanket she will give a little paw and let me know she wants under the covers too. Most nights she sleeps under the blankets with me all night. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverBailey loves to play with anything that makes noise, she’s a true squeaker destroyer. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverAt 4 years old, Bailey still has puppy energy and loves to jump around and play but if you sit down she settles down quickly if it means snuggle time. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverBailey has been an amazing dog but unfortunately I realize I cannot provide her with the kind of home she needs. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverFor the first few years of Bailey’s life, she lived in a home with two parents who worked opposite shifts, so someone was always home with her. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverSince having to move out of our previous home and back in with my parents, Bailey now has limited attention and space. Bailey would thrive in a home with people around more often than not. She’s loves other dogs and had lived with a cat and dog in our old home.Chocolate Labrador RetrieverBailey does have a few flaws, the biggest one being she is epileptic. Which means she has seizures, they only last about 30 seconds and leave her a bit confused afterwards but soon she’s back to her happy self. She is currently on 3 medications.  The dosage for one medication was just adjusted so we are waiting to see if the seizures lessen. She takes the medication once in the morning and once at night and with a little squeeze cheese they go down no problems. Chocolate Labrador RetrieverRight now, she has a seizure about once a month but the vet and I are hopeful it will be less often soon. Bailey’s medicine also makes her drink more water, because of this she has to go out more often. Bailey is great with pawing at the door to let me know every time she has to go outside but if I’m not home for long periods of time she will go on a pee pad if need be.Chocolate Labrador RetrieverBailey is truly such a sweet and loving dog and deserves more than I know I am able to give her. I know the seizures sound scary but if you can look past that and just give her a chance you will find a dog who just wants to be loved and will stick by your side.
