Bear #30 Black Labrador Retriever Male 2.5 Years Old ID#3427
Meet Bear! Bear is a sleek, 64 lb, purebred black Labrador retriever who was surrendered to Brookline when Bear’s owner, lost her job and her home, and wanted him to find a safe place to land. He is your typical young, energetic boy who needs to get some consistent exercise. He will surely reward you with lots of kisses! Bear will need a home free of cats as they are not his favorite. However, Bear LOVES his people! This goofy boy would love an active family. A fence is not required but he will need lots of opportunities to stretch those legs! He does need some manners training, and leash work, but is very food motivated, so easy to train.

Bear is such a good boy!! He’s so sweet with people and other dogs too! He’s been very tolerant with new foster Machito. Bear is an acrobat when he is avoiding Machito’s attempts to jump on him and just wiggles right out of it.
He’s very curious and has been happy to try new things, like going in the pool and climbing some of the obstacles.
Today, Bear met a new friend at Kamp whose name is also Bear if you can believe it!

Bear continues to do well in his new foster “home.” He is getting more comfortable with the staff. He loves going exploring and sniffing all of the exciting smells of other dogs. He has met two other dogs so far, both of them females. He has been very good with both of them, friendly and playful. He has been pretty quiet, not even barking at the other dogs at the kennel. He has shown pretty good manners so far, and is not jumping up on anyone. He has been fairly good on leash too, pulling at times, but not excessively. So far Bear is a very sweet and gentle boy!Bear loved going for a car ride, even though it was to the vet. He was very calm and happy looking out the windows. He was a superstar at the vet clinic, even though he pulled like a freight train periodically. He loved getting petted by the vet and technician. We went across the street for a walk in the park afterwards. He saw another dog there and got very excited and wanted to go say Hi.
Today, Bear met fellow Brookline foster, Machito.
They had fun playing and sniffing around the yard together.

Bear is now a Brookline foster. This is just Bear’s first day with us, so he is still a little bit uncertain. He warms up very quickly after a few treats and some praise. We’re still just getting to know him, but he seems very sweet and gentle. I’m sure that as he gets more comfortable, he will be more boisterous! He needs to get neutered and go to “school” but he seems very willing to learn and try new things. I use some treats to lure him into the little pool today. Once he realized how refreshing it felt on his toes, he was happy to stay in there for a few minutes. I also ended up introducing him to an easy going female. He was very curious and sweet with her. I kept the meeting brief so it would be a positive experience, but they were very good together.
