Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Yellow Labrador RetrieverMeet Buddy and Duke.  They are a pair of bonded friendly seniors whose farmer recently passed, and were left abandoned on the property since December.  A neighbor had been feeding them but they were roaming the farm alone.  They are now safe in Brookline’s care.  Please read their blog from the bottom up.

Both boys are so incredibly sweet. They love people and they’re very good with all of the other dogs that they’ve met. They get along very well with fellow fosters Frankie and Gemma.

Buddy and Duke are doing well.  They are both starting to feel a bit better from their various ailments, and are really enjoying playing and exploring.  They think resting in the sun is great too!Chocolate Labrador Retriever Yellow Labrador Retriever Chocolate Labrador Retriever Yellow Labrador Retriever

Duke is getting neutered this Friday so stay tuned for updates!

I had Duke by himself yesterday because Buddy had to go to the vet. I took Duke out to the big yard, to sniff and explore, which he loved! He was surprisingly good on the leash for a farm dog that’s probably rarely been on a leash. He patiently let me hose him off and towel dry him afterwards.Yellow Labrador Retriever Yellow Labrador Retriever Yellow Labrador RetrieverBuddy and Duke are doing very well here.  They were both happy boys after they got some cushy new beds from Brookline.  Both love relaxing on the soft warm beds!Chocolate Labrador Retriever Yellow Labrador Retriever Chocolate Labrador Retriever Yellow Labrador RetrieverBuddy was a superstar at the vet. They did have to pack his ears to treat an infection. Since he needs to be neutered, they also did bloodwork to prepare for the surgery. They did x-rays on his back legs and hips, which they said looked really good. He was very tired the rest of the day after his big adventure, but seems back to his chipper self this morning.Chocolate Labrador Retriever Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Both Buddy (Chocolate) and Duke (Yellow) are very sweet, affectionate boys. At 10 years old, they don’t move as fast as they probably used to, but they’re more than happy to hang out with people. They’ve only been here for a few days, so I haven’t had a chance to do a whole lot with them. We’re just letting them settle in and get to know us.

They are very quiet in their runs and don’t seem to mind having individual kennels. They still get to go out together to explore.  Duke offered to sit pretty readily when he saw treats, but Buddy choose to stand instead. They are both pretty easy going!

They both need to get neutered and will be checked out by the vet.  More to come as they both settle in to the routine at Kamp!

Buddy (chocolate) and Duke (yellow) were sprung from the farm this morning. The farm is in foreclosure and they were living there by themselves since December. A neighbor was feeding them. These boys were starved for attention. Buddy sat on Mark’s lap for the entire trip from to the Tractor Supply.

They are absolutely the sweetest boys. They had great behavior with the other dogs waiting in line.
