Cooper #21 Yellow Labrador Retriever Male 4 Years Old ID #3494
Meet Cooper! Cooper is your typical friendly, loving, athletic, almost 4 year old red fox Labrador. A red fox Lab is a dark red shade of yellow Labrador Retriever. Cooper came into Brookline’s care as an owner surrender. Cooper’s owner had to recently move, and Cooper lost his fenced yard which was his only outlet for exercise. The owners realized that they just couldn’t provide enough exercise and attention that Cooper needed and deserved so they made the difficult decision to let Brookline help re-home him. Please read Cooper’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about his time in foster care.

Cooper has been making some new friends at Kamp. Cooper had a great time with BCK camper, bear. So much fun to run, run, run!
Cooper seems to love water and will splash around in his water bowl. He also loves his toys. He’s such a silly boy.
We are working on more commands. He is learning “wait” at the doorways and gates, and also “down”. He is doing “down” well with a treat lure, but still hasn’t connected the word to the action yet. He is a very willing and smart dog! And most importantly, so sweet and cuddly!

Cooper is doing very well. He’s very sweet, and affectionate. The former owners said that he likes everyone, people and dogs. He likes playing ball and running in the big yard!
He also really loves playing in the water! I just poured some fresh water for him and he flopped down, drank some, then splashed all the water out of the bowl. He’s going to need a spill proof water bowl!As Cooper has no experience on leash, we will be acclimating him to walks and also strengthening his basic commands. Stay tuned for more updates as Cooper gets settled in and we get him started on his training.

Cuddle bug Cooper joined the rescue today. This soon to be 4-year-old Fox Red was surrendered by his family because he has been very unhappy since there moved from a home with a fenced yard to one without. He doesn’t know anything about walking on a leash, so he’s going to spend a couple weeks at BCK and complete finishing school with the wonderful trainer there. He has a wonderful temperament, loves other dogs, and is great with kids. He was calm and well behaved for the 1.5-hour car ride today. When he met the folks at BCK he showed off his perfect Lab lean and kept trying to scoot closer and closer to them for extra pets. Please stay tuned for updates on this handsome boy.
