Cuddle Monster Black Labrador Retriever Female 5 Years Old ID#3695
June 28, 2026
Good morning from Cuddle Monster! This angel wakes up every morning in a good mood and ready to embrace the adventures ahead of her, and she is a joy to have in our lives.
Cuddle Monster is crate trained and continues to sleep peacefully through the night. Not only does she sleep there, but FM recently learned that she is used to being fed in her crate too. Recently, when FM was getting her food ready near her crate, Cuddle Monster enthusiastically jumped inside. FM was not sure what was going on, but she decided to follow Cuddle Monster’s lead and put the bowl inside the crate (door wide open). From that point on, when it’s time to eat, Cuddle Monster hops into the crate- eagerly awaiting her meal delivery service (FM).
Cuddle Monster continues to eat at a very fast pace- even with a standard slow feeder- but we have found great success with a “puzzle” slow feeder that she has to manipulate in order to get the food to move from the “holding area” into the bowl. She quickly figured out that she needs to spin the top in order to get the food to come out, but this feeder has a setting that controls the pace. It now takes her 5-10 minutes to eat her food (she makes sure she gets every last piece!). It has only been a couple of days using this feeder, but so far it appears to be a success.
Cuddle Monster is also house trained. She regularly does her business in the back yard and has had no inside accidents. Although she will go into her crate if we are leaving her to run some errands, she has been so trustworthy that FM and FD have started giving her free run of the house when we are going out for a couple of hours. We make sure we close all of the bathroom doors before leaving, Cuddle Monster has not shown a great interest in picking from garbage cans, but we don’t want her to become interested and pick up a bad habit.
This week, Cuddle Monster went to the vet. She enjoyed her ride in the car (first picture) and then went on to charm the entire vet office staff. It was a very busy day at the vet! Cuddle Monster showed an interest- but no reactivity- to the other dogs in the waiting area. There were a couple of cats in cat carriers, but she did not show any curiosity or interest. She was happy to sit or stand (with her sister) near FM’s side and get lots of pets for being such a good girl.
Once we were called back to an exam room, Cuddle Monster easily stepped on the scale to get a weight. The vet was pleased to see she had gained some weight, but she should gain another 10 pounds to be at a healthy body weight. Throughout the exam, she waited calmly and patiently as the vet checked her legs, body, teeth, and face. He noted that she had some bald spots here and there, but he expects that the fur will continue to fill in as her malnutrition continues to subside. She had to have some shots, but she handled those like a champ and remained her chill self the whole time.
Cuddle Monster definitely enjoys her time playing in the back yard, but that’s not the only form of exercise she gets. We have been going on neighborhood walks, and she is doing really well on the leash.
Though our neighborhood has an assortment of deer, rabbits, birds, and other outdoor friends, Cuddle Monster has not shown any interest when we are on our walks. Cuddle Monster also enjoys exercising inside. She appreciates a good walk down the stairs-
and excels at a jump onto a bed. This girl has not met a bed she doesn’t like!
It’s time to go play, so bye for now!

Cuddle Monster’s first foster mom was amazing and loved her very much, but she has to be off of her feet for a while, so Cuddle Monster joined her new foster home. Here she is on the ride to her new foster home.Cuddle Monster arrived at her new foster home and started to check everyone and everything out- most especially the back yard where she got to meet Gracie,
meet TJ,
and be reunited with Tiki!
All of that meeting and greeting was a bit tiring, so Cuddle Monster took a little break. At her new foster home, Cuddle Monster has a Foster Mom (FM) and Foster Dad (FD), multiple human foster siblings, a fur foster sibling (Gracie- 9-year-old yellow lab), AND a fur sibling. That’s right- Cuddle Monster and Tiki are full siblings. We have taken to referring to them as “the twins” since they are practically identical. Just try to tell them apart…
That day, Cuddle Monster did all of her potty business outside; and that night, Cuddle Monster slept through the night in her crate. When it was time to wake up, Cuddle Monster ran right outside with Tiki and Gracie for some morning outside fun and then came inside for breakfast. But little did Cuddle Monster know that FM and FD had decided that something had to change…
FM and Cuddle Monster took a quick trip to the store to pick out a new harness. Not only does she look fantastic in neon yellow, but now it’s much easier to tell the dogs apart!
Cuddle Monster continued her streak of doing all potty business outside and sleeping through the night in her crate. She enjoys mealtimes… so much that we got her a slow feeder. At first, she needed a little encouragement with the stairs.
She is a very quick learner and goes up and down them with ease. If going for a car ride, she prefers to sit in the front seat of the car. If going outside, she loves to fetch a ball. She’s making good progress walking on a leash- no pulling at all! She’s not totally clear on the concept of walking forward most of the time, and if FM or FD stops walking, she stops too. Sometimes, this means she ends up getting a little tangled in the leash, but aren’t we all a work in progress? FM was getting a bit tangled too, so we are trying out a double lead to see if that helps. So far, so good:
And after a walk, everyone likes to cool off on the tile floor. The rest of this week will involve lots of playtime, meeting the neighborhood kids, and of course, everyone is excited about heading to the vet later this week. Stay tuned for more of this sweet girl’s adventures in Jersey!
