Meet Daisy! This adorable, purebred silver girl was surrendered by her owner by no fault of her own. After a separation, Daisy was spending 10+ hours in a crate while her owner was at work. Her owner knew this wasn’t the right situation for a young puppy and reached out to Brookline for help. Daisy is now in a Brookline foster home. Please read Daisy’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about her while in foster care.

Daisy continues to make progress. She is working hard on her manners, but will need further training and consistency in her forever home. Daisy does get excited when new people come to the house, but to her, everyone is a puppy who wants to play. She is a smart girl who knows that at night she needs to go into the crate, so she puts herself in there. Same for when FM asks her to do so. She sits for meals as well. Daisy has quickly caught on that treats come when she listens.
Daisy still loves to play more than anything. While another resident dog is not necessary in her forever home, she will need to be socialized and exercised. She might even enjoy something like agility or nose work to keep her mentally challenged. In the meantime, Daisy continues to be a great officemate, often curling up (or over) by FM’s chair. She will happily snooze on the couch near FM or follow around the yard.
Before she becomes too attached here, Daisy will be looking for her forever home soon. If you are looking for a sweet but curious pup, she’s the one for you!

Daisy is just a ray of sunshine. She is a sweet pup who LOVES to play.
It is fun to watch her tussle with the resident dogs one minute and then snuggle up the next.
She is a quick learner. Daisy knows her leash means a walk, where the treat cabinet is, and when it is time to eat. She even ran the agility tunnel in the backyard without being taught. She had a blast showing up the big dogs. We are working on sitting nicely for treats as well as other manners. She is definitely getting used to a routine.
Today, FM needed to go out for a while. Daisy went into her crate without a complaint but was super excited to see FM when she got home. She is also great at sleeping through the night. Daisy doesn’t complain if she has to spend some time in the crate so FM can get something done. As long as she has a toy, she is content. She continues to be a good walker. She likes to pull a little, but really doesn’t seem fazed by distractions.
Daisy is a good officemate, too. Occasionally, she will play in the background, but for the most part, she naps contentedly near FM’s chair (her snoring is so cute). She is not shy about anything and is a very confident pup. Daisy seems happiest when she knows that she is the center of attention.

Daisy, Daisy
Give me your answer, do.
I’m half crazy
all for the love of you
What’s not to love about this pretty girl? It’s only been a day, and she’s settling in, making herself right at home. Daisy traveled well for the hour it took to get to her new digs. Then she met the resident dogs, which erupted into a play session that lasted for hours. FM’s not sure who had more fun, but it sure was great to watch them all just be dogs. Later, to burn off more energy, Daisy played a rousing game of fetch with a tennis ball. She does well and knows to drop it when she is ready to go again. She was so tired that eventually she was staggering to go after the ball. Yet, FM gave up before she did.
Daisy has so much personality. She knows her name, barks to go out, and takes correction well. But she still is a puppy and will need consistency to break her of puppy habits. Despite the size difference, Daisy is not at all bashful about telling the resident dogs when they are playing with “her” toys (which seems to be all of them), but she also knows to give them space. She is happy to be with them or just wander around to check things out on her own.
Inside, Daisy is curious but doesn’t really take things she shouldn’t. She does want to see what FM is doing all the time, including putting paws on the counter, but not to take anything. She has made herself right at home, on the sofa, resting on FM whenever she can.
As for the crate, she’s not a fan but does settle. Last night, she barked for quite some time, but then when FM covered the crate, there wasn’t a peep for over 6 hours. Today, we all walked the neighborhood, and Daisy started out pulling a little but quickly settled into the pack mentality and was rather easy to walk. She took in all the sights and sounds in stride and doesn’t seem to have much of a prey drive. In fact, when Dolly chases rabbits in the yard, Daisy chases her but has no idea what all the fuss is about.
Stay tuned to learn more about this precious pup. There’s so much about her to love!

Yesterday, Daisy had her rescue ride. She was originally purchased from a farm in Lancaster and has soft almost chocolatey colored fur and gorgeous eyes.
First stop was the vet to get her UTD on vaccinations, wormed, microchipped and to check out a rash on her belly and arms. She was amazing in the waiting room and sat on my lap watching all the comings and goings at the walk in animal hospital. There were dogs of all shapes and sizes and cats in carriers. She just took it all in and was giving the neighboring Frenchie curious looks when he was honking at her like a goose.
Once she got into the exam room, she inspected the room, played a little fetch with duckie and then laid down next to me and chilled on the floor with duckie.
She was friendly with all the staff and greeted each visitor happily. She was a bit squiggly on the exam table but took all the prodding and poking in stride.
In the short time that we’ve spent with Daisy, we know that she LOVES stuffies, and belly scratches and playing fetch with stuffies. She’s pretty good on a leash for a puppy so I think she’ll be an expert in no time.
Stay tuned for more updates as this sweet, playful girl as we get to know her.
