Freddie #3 Fox Red Labrador Retriever Male 1 Year Old ID #3712
Freddie is a farm bred dog who was purchased by one family and passed along to another because he had too much energy. At his second home, he lived in a garage, separated from the other dogs and people in the house. Freddie still has his puppy disposition and needs to learn how to be a house dog. His rescue ride took him from the garage and into a foster home where he can learn some house manners. Please read his blog from bottom to top.
Freddie is now available to adopt: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/freddie-08e723ca-d980-486f-9806-0125ca313a82/pa/warrington/brookline-labrador-rescue-pa06/details/

Get ready, Freddie! It’s that time…. Freddie is ready to find his furever home! While this boy has only been here a short while, if he doesn’t get posted now, he’s never leaving. Freddie has progressed so far so fast, it’s truly amazing. He still has a good bit to go, but he will be a great addition for the right family.
Freddie’s new family MUST:
· Have a great sense of humor and want to have fun
· Be ok with having a swimming pool by the water bowl
· Know that squirrels, rabbits and some birds are not sharing the yard with him
· Be surefooted as he tends to be RIGHT THERE all the time
· Love to give pets and throw tennis balls
· Stick to an exercise program, whether it’s with another dog or not
· Be patient and,
· Work on training and help Freddie become the best dog he can be!
Freddie would love:
· Another dog in the house
· A home without little kids only because he’d probably knock them over
· Lots of chew toys and tugs
· A fenced in yard if possible
· Someone or a resident dog around as much as possible and,
· Room to run.
This handsome red hunk of red fills the room with his wiggly butt and joyful disposition. He has come so far from living in a garage. Might he be the furry love of your life??

It’s been a great Five Nights at Freddie’s! First, he finished his post-surgery “rest period” so that he finally could go out into the yard and play to his heart’s content. Whenever he gets the chance, he is outside running around chasing a ball or one of the resident dogs. He always keeps the yard free of squirrels and rabbits as well as the occasional bird. Freddie just loves to be on the move. Over the weekend, he helped FM with the yard work, supervising the lawnmowing and not reacting at all.
Another great thing for Freddie this week was that he learned potty and has been accident free! Freddie has even learned to go in the crate simply by being told and then settles down for the night. If for some reason he wakes up and needs to go out, he does so quickly, comes back in and settles right back down to bed.
Freddie does suffer from one “flaw” — he has FOMO! Freddie needs to first going out the door, getting a treat, or just getting a pet. He pushes that big blockhead through to get there before everyone else. FM thinks that he went so long without attention that he’s trying to make up for lost time. We have been working on patience, but Freddie is still young and will learn over time.
Freddie is learning some commands as well. He hasn’t quite gotten sit yet, but he does understand wait. And then there’s leash walking. When Freddie walks solo, he is a dream. When he walks with the resident dogs, he again needs to be first. However, he really is settling into the routine and eventually just goes with the flow.
Freddie and FM even took a trip to Home Depot and then to the pet store. Everyone at Home Depot thought Freddie was handsome and that he was doing a great job. At the pet store, he sniffed at everything but didn’t touch. He was an excellent shopper. By the way, once he’s in the car, he’s a great traveler, too.
And to top off the week, Freddie’s Brookline welcome box came! He couldn’t make up his mind which toy to play with first and made sure he took out each one. He was even nice enough to share with the resident dogs.
Freddie is quickly becoming a great dog. He just needs someone who will invest the time and energy it takes to help him get there.
Whoever brings this boy home will find him to be a loving, loyal companion.

“Loooooking good!” Freddie the Prince is such a handsome, sweet boy! He even posed for an Easter photo to celebrate the occasion. He is 86lbs. of sheer enthusiasm and curiosity. Given how Freddie really hadn’t had much opportunity to be his best dog self, he’s taking the chance and learning how.
First, Freddie is learning house manners. Although he is so gentle, he has no understanding of personal space, but he’s starting to catch on. Freddie’s definition of “close” is “on top of,” “leaning against” or “breathing on” whomever is closest. Let’s just say, he just really wants to be close to FM or the resident dogs. Although Freddie is a bit curious, he is quickly corrected with a “no” or “uh uh.”
Housebreaking is going pretty well. He has learned that the crate isn’t a horrible place and goes into it when it’s bed time. He’s quiet all night long as the night light is on. When FM needs to go out, he has stayed crated without issue up to 4 hours. He gets along well with the resident dogs and they are a calming influence on him, so he probably needs a house with a chill resident dog.
This guy is learning how to play as well. He wasn’t interested in toys or bones when he arrived but quickly learned the “joy of toys.” Freddie found a tug toy and Dol quickly taught him how to play tug. He has occupied himself with the Nyla bones and soup bones. But, to FM’s surprise, Freddie LOVES to play fetch. Within minutes of learning about balls, he was flinging them around the room and scrambling after them. Taking that outside, he can chase down the ball clear across the yard. It’s great to see him having fun.
Freddie was recently neutered, so keeping him from running around has been challenging. He really wants to get going. So, we walk – a lot. One on one, he is easy on the leash. When he walks with the resident dogs, it is a bit more challenging, but he is adapting quickly. For a dog who didn’t get much exercise before, he is making up for lost time. He is really looking forward to more time in the yard with the resident dogs, getting out all of that redheaded energy. FM is really looking forward to seeing this big boy become his best self.

Fast Freddie rolled right into his foster home and made fast friends with the resident dogs. He wasn’t quite fast enough to catch Dolly as she raced him around the yard, but he did manage to wear himself out. He quickly settled in with Gus as well, ate some dinner, and made himself right at home.
Freddie followed the resident dogs throughout the first floor of the house and claimed his favorite spot, in the corner of the family room. He didn’t try to get onto the furniture or claim a dog bed yet. He also didn’t seem interested in any of the dog toys that were in the basket either. Freddie was captivated by the television and apparently is a Wheel of Fortune fan. Who knew?!
If he’s not running outside or snoozing in the corner, Freddie’s looking for pets and ear rubs. His big block head makes that easy. So far, he hasn’t touched anything that he shouldn’t and has been respectful of everyone. His tail never stops wagging and his Lab smile shines. Stay tuned for more about this handsome boy!
