Hunter #15 Yellow Labrador Retriever Male 9 Years Old ID #3538
August 14, 2025
Hunter had his neuter surgery on Tuesday, 8/12. He has been taking it easy and resting! He seems to be feeling better each day as he recovers.
He is continuing to learn that he is in a safe environment.
He often will show fear by cowering down to the ground. His leash has been a main trigger. We have put the leash on the floor for him to smell and approach but he often is still fearful of it.
He continues to interact and play with our resident dogs. He also has been great with everyone he meets.
He enjoys walks and will often show interest in bunnies or squirrels!
Hunter is a real sweetheart.

Hunter is a sweet and happy lab! He has learned his foster family’s routines. He is our shadow! He has stayed alone with our two labs for up to four hours and has done well. He likes to lay with his blanket!
We had a graduation party this past weekend, and he was everyone’s favorite! He walked around our backyard, greeting everyone and enjoyed lots of pets. He is so gentle and loving!
He has been doing great, going potty outside, and now stands at the back door when he needs to go out. He continues to make progress with steps. He can now go up and down without being on his leash. The steps are still gated for safety during the day.
Hunters’ favorite things are taking walks, exploring the backyard, and being loved!

Hunter received his Brookline box! Thank you so much! His favorite item was his blanket. He snuggled with it all night.
He went up and down our steps with encouragement and even with some help from our resident dogs. Kai walked down right next to him a few steps at a time. It was adorable to watch. We gate the steps during the day for his safety. He is very nervous about going up and down still. He has mastered the three steps that lead to our backyard.
He also slept on his bed for the first time last night!
He has only been resting his head on it, but he slept all night on it and has been enjoying naps today on it today!
He continues to learn that he is in a safe place. He is the sweetest boy!
Enjoy this video of Hunter playing with a tennis ball from his box.

We hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July! Hunter had another great night. He was unfazed by the fireworks. He sleeps all night and has been sleeping next to his dog bed in our bedroom. He likes to rest his head on his bed.
He is learning that he is in a safe environment but he often tries to hide up against walls or couches and hide his head.
He really enjoys his walks. He has been doing great with our two male labs. He joins in at times when they are playing. They have even been taking turns lying next to Hunter! He seems real curious about toys. He has picked up the balls and played with a few chew toys.
He is making improvements with walking on hardwood floors.
He is such a sweet boy.

Hunter is doing so well adjusting to his new life after his rescue ride from the farm yesterday! A special thanks to all the volunteers that made Hunter his rescue ride possible as well as taking him to the vet along the way.
He was awesome on the car ride to NJ. We brought him to Cape May for the long weekend! He met our two labs and enjoyed a much-needed bath. He loves going on walks, and his tail just keeps wagging. He has been very curious, smelling all the new scents. He even played with a tennis ball for a few minutes. He is doing great, going potty outside accidents so far!
He seems nervous and scared of his new environment and just wants to be next to a person. He has been army-crawling to us to get some pets. He loves to snuggle, and he is enjoying all the love he’s getting from our family!
