I think I’m most proud of my little Icy. Labrador/GS MixShe really has come out of her shell and is a smart girl.Labrador/GS MixIclyn is learning her “sit”!

She even taps me when she needs to show me something.

She is very attentive and always has an ear up listening for sounds.

Isn’t it just the cutest.Labrador/GS Mix Labrador/GS Mix Labrador/GS Mix Labrador/GS Mix Labrador/GS Mix

She loved walking in the park. She has came out of most of the shyness and is coming up to me when I call. Labrador/GS Mix Labrador/GS Mix

She is definitely a prize little Southern Belle.Labrador/GS Mix

The days are getting hotter her in AR and Iclyn is always looking to beat the heat.  She found a nice shady spot to cool off in though she still had a spot of sun on her nose! LOLLabrador/GS Mix

Iclyn is such a sweet girl, and has been becoming more and more confident by the day.Labrador/GS Mix

We took Iclyn and her sister Gusty to the park for a walk.

I was super impressed at how well she did in this new environment with lots of new sights and sounds. She’s come a long way walking on leash and really enjoyed smelling all the new sniffs.

Iclyn likes playing in the yard with her siblings. They all get along really well with each other and other dogs.

Iclyn has been healing well from her spay surgery and is really gaining so much more confidence.  She has a new favorite spot in the pen next to the fan now that it’s getting hotter out.Labrador/GS mix Labrador/GS mixShe is right in the thick of playtime with her siblings and likes chasing after balls.

She is doing well meeting all the new dogs in the big yard and settling in well with everyone.

She is always happy to see her people, and likes hanging out with the other dogs.Labrador/GS mix

We’ve fostered over 350 dogs and puppies in 4.5 years and they are the best litter we have ever had. They keep their shelter and pen clean and prefer to go outside their pen on the grass, they all get along together and with the other dogs, they have absolutely no resource guarding and can all eat together, they don’t jump on you, and are getting so much better with leash training. From all the pups I’ve had, they have by far been the easiest litter.Labrador/GS mix

Iclyn had a couple of busy days. Iclyn and her sisters were brought to the vet on March 3 to get spay.  They have come a really long way thanks to their foster working on their socialization and leash skills.Labrador/GS mix

Iclyn has really made strides on leash.  When her foster first tried leash walking, she froze and was very scared.  That day, she did a good job walking with the vet techs to the scale and into the back room.

The next day, she was super happy to see foster Mom and Dad and was ready to go home!

Iclyn and her sisters, Wynter, Mittens, and Gusty are all staying in the side yard since they are still unaltered and we don’t need any accidental litters coming along.

The girls all like hanging out together and playing chase with each other.  Labrador/German Shepherd Mix Labrador/German Shepherd MixWhen it’s time to clean out their pen, they all like to supervise.  I imagine their conversation goes something like this:

Gusty: Yall think she needs helping cleaning our pen?
Iclyn: She looks like she’s doing fine.
Labrador/German Shepherd MixMittens: We can supervise
Wynter: Word!Labrador/German Shepherd MixThey really do enjoy their sister time together, and Iclyn is getting more confident every day!  Labrador/German Shepherd MixShe even made a new friend named Walt.Labrador/German Shepherd MixSince the girls are getting bigger, and are almost 50lbs now, I’ve started working on leash training since they are too big to carry when I go to the vet. This is what Iclyn thinks about it so far:

Iclyn: Leash training really? Do I have to?Labrador/German Shepherd MixLabrador/German Shepherd Mix
Me: Yes your to heavy and chunky to carry.Labrador/German Shepherd Mix
Iclyn: Excuse my muscles weighs more than fat. I’m muscular okay?Labrador/German Shepherd Mix

Small steps but we are making progress!

Iclyn had a hard start to life. Her parents are outside dogs in Arkansas, and Iclyn and her littermates were not wanted or cared for by their owner, and were left to fend for themselves. When they were found by a good Samaritan, they were underweight and full of worms. They are currently in a foster home with a rescue in AR who reached out to Brookline to help rehome them. Iclyn has gained weight and has been treated medically and is now waiting for her forever family to come along.Labrador/German Shepherd MixIclyn can be shy and cautious at first but with time trusts her caretakers. Calm and gentle pets from her people, gets her tail wagging. She also likes toys and will chase them.  When it comes to play with her littermates, Iclyn prefers to be a spectator.  She is interested in what the group is doing and wags her tail while she watching but doesn’t join in with the tug play.Labrador/German Shepherd MixIclyn would do best with a calm and friendly furry friend in the home to help build her confidence and trust in her new people. Iclyn would love to learn all about the joys of living indoors and what it’s like to be loved on by her people.  She is food motivated so she should house train readily.Labrador/German Shepherd MixThe litter is currently living in a shed with a fenced run and they keep their living quarters clean.

The shelter is Iclyn’s safe space when there’s too much commotion out in the yard.  She loves to snuggle up in the blankets where she is safe and warm. Labrador/German Shepherd MixLabrador/German Shepherd MixIclyn is good with other dogs but has not been exposed to cats.

Iclyn is heartworm negative and on preventatives and will be UTD on vaccines prior to transport from Arkansas.

Please give this sweet girl a chance to find out what it’s like to be loved and safe in a home of her own!
