Jax #4 Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Male 2 Years Old ID#3185
Meet Jax! This lovable big boy is a 2 year old Lab who was surrendered to Brookline by no fault of his own. Due to a life change and new living arrangements, his owners made the difficult decision to surrender him so that he would be able to live the life they wanted for him. Please read Jax’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about his time in foster care.

Jax has continued to open up and get more comfortable with us. He is loving his daily walks and appears to have slimmed down some. We are still working on pulling on the leash.
Jax loves being around all our family especially the kids. He really thinks he is a lap dog and wants to cuddle all he can!
We have our first vet visit this week and I look forward to seeing if he has lost a couple pounds and get him a good checkup!

Jax has settled into our home routines quite well. We continue to keep walking him daily and I think we are already seeing some loosening of his harness. I have mastered a new talent of 4 dogs walking at once.
He loves to be a part of our daily lives. He sure enjoys his buddy Murphy who is our 2 year old Corgi. He is convinced they are the same size!
When we aren’t busy playing and exercising Jax loves to cuddle!
We are continuing to work on manners. Jax definitely is food driven and wants to try all
he can to counter surf or take food right from your hands! We continue to encourage good behavior habits.

Jax did very well overnight. We discovered he is a little unsure of the stairs but wanted to be with us so he made the trip up and down with some encouragement and support!
We had another busy and active day for Jax. He has become glued to us all rather quickly! We started the morning enjoying a couch lounge while we had coffee.
Once the kids were off we took off on a nice walk on this sunny day! Jax did almost a mile and did well on his leash. It was a bit more calm in the morning so we didn’t meet any new friends along the way.
After our walk we made a trip to the Canine Spa in Dillsburg to see how he would enjoy some swimming. Thinking this would be easy on his joints as he seems to definitely be struggling at his weight. We discovered Jax probably hasn’t been exposed to water much or if ever. We had to encourage him into the water where he completed a couple laps.
He was much happier to just watch after that! We gave him a nice shower there before we headed home. All the dogs took a nice nap on the way home.
We enjoyed some time outside while the kids played after school. He wants to be involved with everything we do.
Looking forward to what tomorrow brings with this sweet big bear!

We picked up Jax the big brown bear this afternoon. He did well in the car ride. He was nervous and went from sitting to standing a lot but a great passenger nonetheless.Once we got home Jax met all our family and everyone welcomed him with open paws and arms. He was great with all the dogs, cat and our kids. He truly is a gentle giant.
I went to have a weight check done on him so we can get a good food plan set for his weight loss goals. He came in at 151.6 pounds.
After his visit there we made a trip to pick up my son and then home. Again, he was a great passenger.
We headed home to enjoy the lovely spring weather and he played outside with the dogs and we enjoyed a walk to the bus stop and a short after dinner walk. He is very spent at this point in the evening. He met several dogs on our walk and was great meeting each one. He definitely will pull when greeting and seems excited to make new friends!
I am looking forward to working on leash manners and getting him healthy. Looking into some options to help control his walks a little easier. He will make such a great addition to a family and seems to adapt well. It’s a bright future for this sweet boy!
