Jessie #4 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 1 Year Old #3541

Yellow Labrador RetrieverMeet Jessie!  This beautiful Red Fox yellow Labrador was surrendered by a breeder after he was unable to sell her. Jessie was kenneled her entire life with her mother. The breeder did not name her and did not interact with her so she will be discovering a whole new world while in foster care.  Please read Jessie’s blog from the bottom up to learn about her journey while in foster care.

Jessie has had quite adventure the last week. Her foster family’s power went out from a big storm and it was out for 5 days! Because of this Jessie got to spend a few nights at the homes of other family members. She was a little nervous but did a wonderful job adjusting, showing all the progress she has made in the past few months. Yellow Labrador RetrieverDuring all the chaos she also had her spay surgery and had a hernia removed. She is recovering well and will get her staples out next week.Yellow Labrador Retriever She should be officially available for adoption soon after that!

Jessie’s personality has really started to bloom! She has become playful and affectionate. She’s really starting to figure out what it means to be a part of a family. Yellow Labrador RetrieverUnfortunately she is still very afraid of her foster dad so we are hoping to have the chance for her to meet more men so she can learn they aren’t scary! Yellow Labrador RetrieverWe have had a little success with leash walking and will be having a visit with a trainer to work on this skill. Yellow Labrador RetrieverJessie still has a ways to go but her progress is incredibly encouraging and we are catching glimpses of the dog she was born to be!Yellow Labrador Retriever

Jessie is continuing to make nice progress in her foster home. Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe is still pretty nervous around foster dad but allows pets while laying in bed. She had begun jumping around in excitement when foster mom comes home from work and it’s absolutely adorable! Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe is showing more and more interest in toys and playing with other dogs. Yellow Labrador Retriever Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe’s still doing great with potty habits and has only ever had a few accidents. This sweet girl is letting her personality shine through a little more each and every day!Yellow Labrador Retriever

Jessie has been with her foster family for two weeks and is progressing slowly but surely. She is doing wonderfully with all the animals in the home which includes dogs, cats, turtles and birds! Yellow Labrador RetrieverWhen Jessie met the green cheeked conure she ran away from him! She’s still a but nervous around her human family but is learning that humans can be good. She even jumps up into bed each night for some snuggles. Using a leash and walking past people and through doorways is still a little scary but she’s figuring it all out as we go. Yellow Labrador RetrieverHer favorite activities are chewing on toys and hanging in the backyard while watching the deer on the opposite side of the fence. Jessie is as sweet as can be and we know she will continue to make great progress in the coming weeks!Yellow Labrador Retriever

Jessie has been with us a little over 48 hours and has already made amazing progress!. She is certainly still very nervous but has begun to allow me to pet her while she is lying in bed.Yellow Labrador Retriever Jessie is clearly much more comfortable with other dogs than humans and has been using her black lab foster brother as an emotional support dog. She sticks by his side most of the day and has even snuggled up to him.Yellow Labrador Retriever She is also doing well with her doggie foster sister and the two cats. Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe hasn’t paid a bit of attention to the parakeets! Jessie is incredibly gentle and has been fabulous with the 10 and 12 year old kids in the home. Perhaps the most surprising thing about her is that she hasn’t had a single potty accident in the house! Jessie startles very easily and does not like to be restrained. Bath time was a bit challenging but we got through it with the help of kind employee at Pet Supplies Plus in Phoenixville. We will begin working on leash walking once she gets a bit more comfortable and I think she will learn very quickly.
