Kendra Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 6 Years Old ID#3547

Yellow Labrador RetrieverMeet Kendra! This beautiful farm girl is being retired as she has not had many puppies in her litters and the farmer has too many dogs. She will need to be spayed and get up to date on vaccines while in foster care.  Kendra was shy on the farm and will need a resident dog to help her adjust to living in a home and trusting people. Please read Kendra’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about her while in foster care.

Kendra is now available: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/kendra-2a3d6158-4db7-4956-850a-8d946fc76d7f/pa/warrington/brookline-labrador-rescue-pa06/details/

It’s a rainy day today so we are just hanging out inside and she’s snoring next to me in a dog bed. Yellow Labrador RetrieverKendra does love her walks! She has gained so much confidence that on occasion I have had to put a gentle leader on her to get her to stop pulling. She has recently decided that all squirrels should be chased and if you are not paying attention she can pull you off your feet when she lunges to get them.

This girl is always happy and her tail is always wagging. Kendra gets excited for car rides, she’s getting much better about going up the ramp into the car. She has mastered coming down.

Kendra is mostly good with the cats but sometimes my one cat wants to hiss at her and then there’s some nonsense but Kendra responds to a firm NO and will back off. She has met 2 dogs in our neighborhood and greeted them excitedly and friendly. She does love my resident dog. I was meeting a friend with her dog for a long walk on Saturday and didn’t take Kendra because she was just spayed. When we got home she was very excited to see my boy and was licking his face.Yellow Labrador RetrieverKendra continues to be a perfect house guest! She was spayed last Friday and all went well. She’s not thrilled about wearing her inflatable collar but she doesn’t put up too much of a fuss when I put it on her.Yellow Labrador Retriever She was very timid and scared at the vet’s but when I picked her up Saturday and she heard my voice she perked up and was excited to see me.  She is healing well and will be ready to find her forever home soon.

Kendra was surrendered from a breeding farm as she was not producing large enough litters. She’s 6 yr old and a happy girl! This sweet and beautiful girl was a little shy for a day or two but has quickly become a confident girl…most of the time. Yellow Labrador RetrieverKendra has learned that dog beds are more comfortable than the floor and she loves to snuggle! She was a little overly interested in the cats the first few days but that has seemed to settle down. My one cat will hiss at a new foster dog if they get too close and Kendra seemed to take that as a challenge and would chase the cat but now they are both relaxed around each other.

Kendra definitely looks to my resident dog for guidance and reassurance. I wasn’t sure how he was going to be with helping a new foster adapt because that was always the job of our breeder mom but she lost her battle with cancer a few weeks ago. I think our boy is just happy to have a canine companion again and Kendra is playful with him so everyone is happy.Yellow Labrador RetrieverKendra loves to go for walks which is good because she needs to lose a few pounds. One of my neighbors texted me to tell me she saw us walking and that the new foster dog looked so happy because her tail was wagging the whole time. She was great for nail trim and ear cleaning, still working on the teeth brushing.Yellow Labrador RetrieverKendra has a vet appointment this week and will get scheduled for spay in the near future. Looking forward to seeing this girl continue to blossom!
