Lacey Black Labrador Retriever Female, 1.5 Years Old
September 18, 2018
On Monday 9/10/18 Lacey was spayed. She came home and was groggy the rest of the night so she spent most of it in her bed sleeping. She did not eat until the next morning at around 8 am. She did not want to wear the lamp shade AT ALL. She ripped it off her head twice before we even left the clinic so we decided that it was better to not stress her out and leave it off. We tried again to have her wear the lamp shade in the morning but she wasn’t having it and again we decided to leave it off. She did very little moving around on her first day post-op. We made a decision to keep our eyes on her and “excuse” the lamp shade. Mr. Moose was very sweet and kept a watchful eye on her as well. He knew she didn’t feel good and he never left her side.
We are now 8 days post op and she’s seems 100 percent. Her eating, drinking and exercise has increased day by day and now she’s about back to normal. She really enjoys her new double-dog bed as well.

Last night foster mom and dad moved my bed into their room to see if me and Mr. Moose could make it through the night together and we did really well. Mom thought it would be best since the kids will be starting school soon.
Every day I’m getting more used to my foster family and I have not had any accidents in the house since my 2nd day I was here. Everybody is really proud of me because I am an excellent listener and I do what is asked of me. I am still learning my manners when new people come into the house. Occasionally I will jump up on them for attention but we are working on that every day.
I love to run around in the yard with Mr. Moose. We chase each other round and round and really helps us to use up our energy. Hey, there’s nothing like an afternoon nap, right?

Foster mom and dad were able to sleep last night cuz I got to sleep in miss Ava’s room in my dogie bed. It was a quiet night and I slept real good! Ava seemed over joyed to have me with her. I am still working to get along with my foster brother Mr. Moose. We have our moments of love and moments of Tom & Jerry but we are working real hard on it.
After a morning of meals, walks and running in the yard, me and Moose decided to chill out for a bit and we recharged the batteries for an hour so. I slept in my open crate and he slept on his back on the cool tile right next to me.
Today, I got my first bath. Foster mom says I did awesome. I just love the bathtub! Ava wrapped me up with a nice big towel to dry me when I was done having my fun in the tub. Now I am squeaky clean and I smell like shampoo. Moose hardly recognized me when I finished. He doesn’t like the tub so he didn’t want to join me. He’s a shower-only guy so off he went into the shower and he came out just as clean as me.

It’s been a little over 1 day since we brought home our little love bug Lacey. She has lots of energy. She spent the late afternoon yesterday running in the yard with our 6 month old pup Moose. They played tag and chased balls and a Frisbee the rest of the day. It was a long night getting them to settle. We ended up spending the night on couch and rotated them in and out of crates until morning. She really is quite the bundle of joy tho. She loves to cuddle and give kisses. Her and my daughter are getting close and she may end up sleeping in her room with her tonight. I was told she slept on the floor next to her owner’s bed so we will try that with Ava tonight. Moose sleeps on the floor next to our bed. He’s good until 7am so we would love to get her into that schedule as well. My daughter saw photos of her wearing clothes so she put a shirt on her for about an hour today.
