Lennie Chocolate Female Labrador Retriever 2 Years Old ID #3505

This morning my husband and I picked up beautiful brown eyed Lennie. Lennie is a 2-year-old female chocolate Labrador. Her owner has been facing financial difficulties as well as personal. Lennie had been living in a confined area within their small town home due to their mother moving in with her dog. Lennie enjoys the company of other dogs but was too rambunctious for the mother’s senior dog.

Lennie was very comfortable in the car and did great with the ride home. Lennie instantly took to my husband. She loves all the attention and rolls right on the ground for belly pets.

Lennie is currently overweight but we are sure she will slim down with all the exercise and activity she will get at the farm. Lennie clearly has a lot of love to give and is going to make a great family dog. We are looking forward to our time together with Lennie. Please read the blog from the bottom up.

I had the day off today, so Lennie and I got to spend plenty of quality time together. One of her favorite parts of the morning is going to the bus stop—she loves watching the girls get on the bus and would happily join them if she could! She also looks forward to seeing Mr. Jim, who always makes sure to say hello to her.

We started the day with a trip to the dog park, where Lennie did fantastic with both small and large dogs. She’s incredibly social and, true to her personality, made her way around to greet just about every person there too.

Later in the afternoon, I was working on Lennie’s video, and it was so funny to watch her react when she heard the girls’ voices—she immediately went searching for them. Lennie truly adores children and lights up whenever they’re around.

We’ve been having such a wonderful time fostering Lennie. She’s brought so much joy into our home while she waits for her forever family.

Lennie continues to be a pleasure to foster. The last two nights she slept out of her crate in our room and did great all night. Yesterday, I let her off the long line in the yard, and she did really well—her recall is impressive, and she comes bounding right over when called. She is now allowed untethered in the yard.

We’ve been having lots of fun playing, and we tire her out since she’s a little out of shape. We also took her for a walk where she met some neighbors—both adults and kids—and everyone absolutely loved her.

Her manners are improving quickly, and she responds really well to correction, which makes it easy to guide her.Chocolate Labrador

We’ve made great progress with playing ball. She now drops the ball and will sit before we throw it, which is a big improvement from when she first arrived and would jump and try to grab it out of my hands. The girls have been enjoying playing with her and have even started walking her in the driveway on their own.

This morning, Lennie met my neighbor and his dog, and both dogs were eager to play. Lennie even rolled onto her back, showing just how friendly and submissive she can be.

We spent the weekend practicing crating to prepare for a full workday, and today was her first full day crated. I gave her a frozen, peanut butter–stuffed bone to help her settle in, and she did great—honestly, she probably enjoyed the nap after all the activity we’ve been doing!Chocolate Labrador

Lennie is a loving, friendly dog who would fit beautifully into most households.

Yesterday we picked up Lennie, and she did great in the car. We spent most of the afternoon outside with her—playing ball, running over the jump, and just soaking up the sunshine. With the weather being so nice, we even had lunch outside.

Lennie briefly considered helping herself to the burgers on the grill, but Justin was quicker than she was! She quickly learned that manners are expected, and after one correction, she relaxed and laid out while we enjoyed our day together.

Lennie did well meeting our birds and ferret. She was unsure of the horses at first but is already learning they’re just like very big dogs. We crated her for about 30 minutes while we picked the girls up from school. She was a bit anxious and cried at first but began to settle. She absolutely loved finally meeting the girls and greeted them with lots of kisses.

She has been very well-behaved during feeding time, patiently waiting for her food. In the house, she’s doing great and appears to be fully potty trained. Lennie also got a bath last night, and her fur is now silky soft. Afterward, she had the zoomies—frolicking around the family room, tossing her toy, and pouncing on it. It was adorable to watch her play and start settling into our home.

Last night, Lennie slept in her crate and did great, settling in right away. This morning, she spent a few hours playing ball off-leash while dragging a long line as we worked on recall. Her recall has been very good—she responds immediately to her name and even a kiss sound.

Lennie also discovered today that farrier visits are a dog’s dream, thanks to all the hoof trimmings! She did well meeting our farrier and calmly watched the horses being trimmed before enjoying a few “treats” of her own.

Today, Lennie seems much more at ease and comfortable. She loves affection and will happily plop into your lap or rest at your feet. She’s a beautiful, happy girl and truly a joy to have in our home. We’re excited to continue introducing her to new experiences and giving her plenty of playtime and love.
