Lucy #18 Black Labrador Retriever Mix Female 4 Months Old ID#3239

Black Labrador Retriever MixMeet Lucy!  This adorable and friendly black Lab mix was dropped off at a shelter in Mississippi along with her mom and all of her littermates.  Unfortunately, her siblings all succumbed to Parvovirus but lucky Lucy survived.  Through the help of a wonderful Brookline volunteer, Lucy was transported North to a Brookline foster home. Her mom, Lady is also a Brookline foster dog!  Please read Lucy’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about this happy and playful girl.

Lucy went to her 14 week vet appointment on October 7 to get some boosters.  She did great in the office and had to say hello to the front desk staff and techs along the way to see the vet.  She was happy to get lots of pets and gave everyone lots of licks in return. She weighed in at 16 lbs so she is growing well as she was 8lbs when she arrived.  She wasn’t really sure what to make of the Lab she came across in the waiting room.  LOL. Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador MixLucy will be available soon and had the following to say to her followers that are interested in adopting her:

Lucy has been with us for over 2 weeks now and is such a joy to have around! Black Labrador Retreiver MixFriday was the end of her quarantine period, so we celebrated by taking the foster girls on a trip to NH.  It was our last trip of the season to get docks out of the water before winter.  Angel and Lucy rode beautifully in the second row.Black Labrador Retreiver Mix Black Labrador Retreiver MixWhen we arrived Lucy checked out the view, and then we went for a walk around the lake.  It was her first walk so she spent a part of it playing with the long leash but eventually got used to being tethered.  She started getting a little squeaky after about 2 miles so I carried her for a bit so she could rest and then she walked the last 1/2 mi back to the cottage.Black Labrador Retreiver Mix Black Labrador Retreiver Mix Black Labrador Retreiver MixShe dipped her toes in the water and was playing with the leaves but didn’t go all the way in like her foster friend Angel. After the all the exploring, Lucy was ready for a nap and was a bit chilly as it was in the high 50’s in the afternoon so she enjoyed getting wrapped up in a fleece blanket.Black Labrador Retreiver MixThe next day Lucy and Angel joined the dock crew while we took out 4 docks on the lake.  She was happy to meet everyone there and enthusiastically received lots of pets from 8 new people.  At one house, she got to meet a mini doodle mix and all three dogs had a great time chasing each other around.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have my phone to capture them playing but they all had a blast!  Everyone she met said she was a sweetheart and wished they could take her home.  They both rode great again on the way home this morning.  Lucy alternated between napping and entertaining herself with a tug toy.Black Labrador Retreiver Mix

Lucy and Angel were happy to see Sammy again today and have been enjoying playing with him outside on this beautiful fall day.

Tomorrow, Lucy will head to the vet to get her boosters and should be looking for her new home shortly!  She is an easy puppy and is going to make some family really happy…

Not much has changed since my last update except I have extended out the time between potty breaks to an hour while she is awake and this tiny tot still remains accident free!  Good job Lucy!Black Labrador Retreiver MixShe still remains as cute as ever and my camera roll is filling up the adorable puppy pics and videos.  She makes the funniest little grunts when she is playing too!Black Labrador Retreiver Mix Black Labrador Retreiver Mix Black Labrador Retreiver Mix

Lucy typically has the zoomies or active playtime after each of her three meals and then will nap on and off in between playtime and the next meal.  She is falling into a good routine.

Black Labrador Retreiver MixShe likes to hang around in the same room that I am occupying but will run off when she hears something going on in another room to join in on the fun.  She does like my husband quite a bit and will visit him in his office throughout the day too.Black Labrador Retreiver MixLucy still continues to be a very easy puppy.  She sleeps soundly in the crate at night and made it all the way to 3:30am this morning without a potty wakeup.  She was not a fan of the crate today when I left for my workout so I’ll try her in the gated “safe” room tomorrow without Angel the gate crasher to set her free and see how that works for her.

She is starting to learn sit and I’m sure she will be an expert in no time!

Stay tuned for the next Lucy update!

Lucy has been here for almost 3 days now and she is doing wonderfully!  Yesterday, and so far today Lucy has been doing all her business outside.  I take her out every hour and right after she has a meal.  This morning, I gated Angel and Lucy together in a puppy safe room when I went out to workout.  I guess they felt that they preferred free roam and somehow opened the tall pet gate that I had set up.  Nothing was amiss when I checked around for puddles so she was reliable for the 1.5 hrs that I was gone.  We had got up at 5am and they had plenty of playtime outside before I left so my guess is they probably just slept while I was gone.Black Labrador Retriever MixBlack Labrador Retriever MixYesterday, we spent a lot of time outside doing yard work. Lucy had a great time following Angel and Sammy and was happy do what they were doing.  Black Labrador Retriever Mix Black Labrador Retriever MixShe checked out some sticks, played some ball and occasionally pounced on Angel and Sammy and liked to join them on a game of chase.Black Labrador Retriever Mix Black Labrador Retriever MixBlack Labrador Retriever Mix

Both Angel and Sammy are very tolerant of Lucy and have both been very gentle with her but correct her when needed.  Lucy is very respectful and listens to correction.Black Labrador Retriever Mix Black Labrador Retriever MixLucy settles nicely when we settle, and can entertain herself with toys and chews.Black Labrador Retriever MixBlack Labrador Retriever MixShe continues to sleep well in the crate.  I have the crate set up at bed height next to the bed so she can see me during the night.  She doesn’t make a peep until she’s ready to go out around 1am.  She goes right back to sleep when I put her back in the crate, and stays asleep until the alarm goes off.  So far, this little cutie has transitioned easily into living in our home and everyone is enjoying getting to know her.Black Labrador Retriever Mix

Lucy arrived to PA yesterday on a transport van.  She was happy and excited to get out of the van and gobbled down some kibble, and took care of business before we started our 1 hr drive home.  She gave out lots of kisses and was wagging her tail like crazy! She was a fantastic passenger and settled right down in the backseat and napped for most of the ride.Black Labrador Retriever Mix

Once we got home she met Angel (my other Brookline foster) and Sammy.  Both Angel and Sammy immediately welcomed this little peanut.

Black Labrador Retriever MixDue to new PA regulations, out of state dogs need to be quarantined for 14 days so we all will be homebound until her stay is up.  I don’t think Angel and Sammy will lose much exercise time with no walks though because little Lucy is keeping these two busy.Black Labrador Retriever MixThey have been having a great time playing outside together.

Lucy has been enjoying exploring all the toys and dog beds and so far has not grabbed any non dog items.Black Labrador Retriever Mix

I had a good laugh this morning at her adorable puppy antics playing with the last bit of her dental chew.

We are working on potty training.  She is doing pretty good so far.  Yesterday, she had a couple of pee accidents when she first came inside but I’ve been diligently taking her outside every 30 mins when she’s awake and she is figuring out that she gets a treat every time she goes outside.  So far today, she has only had one pee accident while I was out and she was under my hubands watch.  I’m sure she will get it in no time.  It helps that she is ravenous!Black Labrador Retriever MixBlack Labrador Retriever Mix Last night, she slept wonderfully in the crate with the heartbeat puppy.  I hope this trend continues!Black Labrador Retriever MixShe loves hanging around with her people, and follows me or my husband around the house and outside and loves getting belly rubs.Black Labrador Retriever Mix

Last night, she sat with us while we enjoyed a beautiful fall night by the fire pit.Black Labrador Retriever Mix

She is currently napping at my feet as I write this.Black Labrador Retriever MixLucy has been an easy addition to the house and my camera roll is filled with cute puppy pics and videos.  Stay tuned for more updates on this adorable little girl!
