Madison recently went to the vet for a checkup and the medications and new diet are working their magic!  Her liver values are back to normal and the rest of her bloodwork has shown much improvement! She has even gained 6 pounds! For now, Madison will stay on her chelation medication to continue to rid her body of copper for the next 6-8 months and will continue to be on her Hills L/D (liver care) food.

She loved the snow so much its was almost impossible to get a picture of her! Black Labrador Retriever Black Labrador Retriever Black Labrador Retriever

Madison is transitioning well to the medications and actually LOVES her new diet! She loves running around the property and getting to play with another female recuse dog I have.Black Labrador RetrieverBlack Labrador RetrieverBlack Labrador RetrieverJust yesterday, she got to meet the farm cat through a fence and she definitely knew to keep her space haha.Black Labrador Retriever Black Labrador RetrieverWe finally got our wood burning stove put in the basement and Madison loves hanging out with us when we hang out by the fire.

Madison made a speedy recovery from her spay/liver biopsy surgery and has been enjoying long walks in the woods with her house mate.Black Labrador Retriever Black Labrador RetrieverBut due to Madisons liver biopsy coming back with HIGH values of copper storage she will now be on a special dog food to help her liver along with a steroid (to help with inflammation), a copper chelator ( to help pull the copper out of her body), and two supplements (to help her liver regenerate). She will be on this regimen for a month and then she will get re tested to see if her body is accepting the meds and diet change! Madison has been in high spirits and is still the happiest, most go lucky girl you’ll ever meet!

Madison is the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet! We believe that she was a puppy mill Mama.  Madison is shy at first but once she gets to know you, she’s always in your pocket!Black Labrador RetrieverMadison LOVES her crate and is completely potty trained but still needs help with some basic training which we will be working on.Black Labrador RetrieverBlack Labrador RetrieverAfter not really receiving much prior medical care, this sweet girl is currently being treated for hookworms, Lyme and anaplasmosis. Her blood work did come back with high liver values so when we recently got her spay, she had a liver biopsy at the same time.Black Labrador RetrieverMore to come as we get to know Madison, and get the results of her biopsy.  Stay tuned for more updates!Black Labrador Retriever
