Mandy had a quick vet visit last week because she was having some early morning vomiting of bile which we tried to resolve with feeding her later in the afternoon and earlier in the morning but that did not resolve the issue.

The vet thought it might be due to the changes in her life and food. They gave us some anti-nausea and stomach coating pills for a few days along with pepcid and a weekend of chicken and rice before a transition to purina sensitive stomach.  She is now just on an evening pepcid and water soaked purina sensitive and has had no more problems since the vet visit.  We will take her off the pepcid soon and see how she goes, hopefully it was just a brief episode as she adjusts to life off the farm.Yellow Labrador RetrieverThrough all that she has been just fine during the day her usual happy self, melting to the floor for attention and bopping you on the nose as you bend over to kiss her and she jumps up to kiss you at the same time.

Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe has opened a few cupboards and looked in the pull out trash, I think she actually opened it, so we we now have a spare dog collar keeping it shut! We are keeping an eye on that and correcting her just with a gentle no because she is sensitive.

Mandy went to my sons special needs baseball game where she was so gentle with everyone and fell asleep after watching the ball go by a few times.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe met our neighbors very small fluffy dog on our walk round the block and Mandy was again very gentle with her.

She does watch the squirrels from the gated deck and rushes to chase them with our dogs when let into the backyard.

Mandy has recovered well from her spay and is back to her playful self.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe hung out with our Granddaughter yesterday and really just thinks of this little person as a human and treats her with respect as she does us.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe has taken Frank on as her snuggle buddy and he doesn’t seem to mind.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe can be a little jealous of attention that we give our two resident dogs and just pushes her head in-between us and them but we are teaching her to take turns with sharing snuggles and treats. She is getting the idea that she’s not always first.

Mandy has started to hang out on the deck with Frank relaxing as we garden or cook inside, showing some nice confidence and not having to be right there with us.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe is still melting into a heap if she doesn’t understand  something but it has become a bit of a “Mandy thing” that is just who she is, not about submission anymore.

She has come a long way in less than 2 weeks off the farm.

Mandy was spayed yesterday. She did really well had the usual anesthesia moaning and crying through last night but is back to her happy self this morning, so now a few days of low key activity as she recovers.Yellow Labrador RetrieverOn Sunday, she had two walks in the neighborhood and was admired several times so we pretended she was our dog because our two climb on the Fed Ex truck if it is parked on our walks and hold the driver hostage for a treat!

As she gets familiar with routines and activities, she is becoming more outgoing and a little cheeky. We are getting fewer death rolls when she feels confused.Yellow Labrador RetrieverWe told her she is going to miss out if she sinks to the floor with her legs in the air when we are trying to put her leash on for a walk – adorable.

Mandy had another good night slept till 6am and went out with the others to be busy and in for breakfast.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe went for her first walk last night and was a little anxious wasn’t sure why we were out in the dark.

She walks very well no pulling just a little nervous frequently checking in with us by looking up

She loves to retrieve tennis balls still a little nervous outside and sticks with us unless our other two decide something needs to be barked and then she joins in.

If in doubt about a situation  she rolls over on her back for a tummy rub.

She enjoyed BBQ smells today

Sweet Mandy arrived yesterday to our home, thanks to a dedicated Brookline volunteer who evaluated and transported Mandy from the farm and met us halfway. She was very nervous in the van but settled quickly.

Meeting the resident crew went well and she had no problems coming into the house.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe had her first shower ever, I guess since there was lots of mud! We then we went off to VIP vet for shots.  She weighed in at 80 pounds!!

She’s eating well from a bowl on the floor and does look for permission to eat.

No accidents in the house and she slept through the night on our bedroom floor and went out to be busy at 6am.Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe is tall enough to reach counters, which she has done, but hasn’t taken anything yet!

She is very polite and takes treats gently and lets you go through doors first not like our motley crew!

Stairs are no problem and she is a bit of a Houdini with gates!

She is very cute, loves belly rubs, and loves our Granddaughter. Yellow Labrador Retriever
