Little Miss Minnie is really coming into her own!Yellow Labrador Retriever

Don’t let her size fool you, she’s TOTALLY in charge and she knows it! Minnie is showing her independent side more every day.  Today, FM took her to Petco to pick up some things.  Although the big sliding doors and the moving carts were scary, she forged ahead and sniffed everything in sight.  She was good when people wanted to pet her and she didn’t make a peep.  Minnie was so good, FM couldn’t resist buying her a new toy, which when she got home, she promptly took upstairs to hide from the resident dogs!  She is so funny!  Minnie lives by the adage – what’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine, too!  She does indeed share, but she’d rather have a pile of toys in her bed.Yellow Labrador Retriever

Earlier this week, Minnie’s welcome box arrived from Brookline (thank you!).  She loved the squeaky toys and even shared with the resident dogs. The wooly mammoth is her favorite so she really doesn’t like it when one of the resident dogs pick it up.  She instantly goes to get it back.  The treats were a hit, too! They will last her quite some time.Yellow Labrador Retriever

This little girl picks up things quickly.  She is learning “sit” and goes into her crate at night without even being told. She clearly understands the word “toy” and is getting that “treat” means run into the kitchen and see what FM has.  Walking has become so much nicer since she doesn’t zig-zag anymore.  Minnie usually doesn’t pull on the leash either.  She is quite the little lady.  In the car, Minnie is the perfect passenger, laying quietly until it’s time to get out.  She doesn’t really shed either, but FM will give that more time.

FM had to go out few times and Minnie was in her crate almost 3 hours one time.  She did great!  The resident dogs were in the kitchen with her so that may have helped.  Since Minnie likes to collect things that are not hers, FM doesn’t think she is ready to be trusted just yet.  In time, FM has not doubt she will be perfect.Yellow Labrador Retriever

Minnie’s disposition is just lovely.  She is one of the most content dogs ever.  She doesn’t complain and just loves to snuggle.  She likes exploring and learning new things.  Minnie will be a wonderful companion for some lucky family!

Little Miss Minnie continues to impress!Yellow Labrador Retriever

This little girl has no fear.  The thunderstorms didn’t faze her.  The lawn mower was a non-issue. Loud noises just don’t seem to have any effect.  And Minnie isn’t much of a barker.  She has a voice if all of the dogs are alert barking but otherwise, she’s not vocal.

Food, however, is a different story.  Minnie does the dance of joy when it’s time to eat.  To say she eats with gusto would be an understatement.  She knows the refrigerator and certain cabinets have food and she follows FM every time in the hopes of treats.  Minnie loves her ice chips when the big dogs have their ice cubes.  She will carry them one by one to the bed where she hides her toys and then looks around for them once they’ve melted.  She cracks FM up.

Minnie’s fearlessness makes her curiosity even more amusing.  Nimble as a cat, Minnie can jump onto all the furniture and walk on almost any surface.  She’s little enough to get into small places and isn’t afraid to investigate everything.  Although she typically sits by FM’s feet during the work day, she sometimes gets up to seek out adventures. Imagine FM’s surprise when looking for Minnie only to find her on top of the sewing machine!

This little gem has become very comfortable in her digs.  She isn’t afraid to engage with the resident dogs and often enjoys a good game of “doggy twister” with them (it’s amazing she doesn’t get squashed). She shares space with them well and enjoys a good snuggle. Minnie is fully housebroken and her leash walking has really improved.  She’s absolutely fine in the crate.

Minnie is a sweet, happy puppy.  Stay tuned to see where Minnie’s curiosity takes her next.

Little Miss Minnie has made some big strides this week!

Minnie knows her name and comes when called – unless of course, she’s having too much fun.  Considering she’d probably never been in a house before she’s been great with potty training.  She mastered the stairs in less than a day, which is no small feat considering they are not carpeted.   The yard has been thoroughly explored and meets with her approval.  In fact, she likes it so much, she learned to ring the bell to go outside.

This peanut is a curious girl.  She has to be in the middle of everything.  Despite her small stature, she will take whatever she wants from the big dogs – toys, beds, and couch space. In fact, she hoards the toys and lays on them so the others can’t get them!

Minnie makes FM laugh out loud.  Today, she slayed the Bathrobe Beast and had a blast doing it (see video Minnie slays the Bathrobe Beast). She tried to take on Gus, who is 4 times her size and scared herself instead.  As she is learning to walk on a leash, she finds it entertaining to wrap her leash around FM’s leg (FM was not entertained). And of course, there are the hysterical poses while she makes herself comfortable sitting with FM.

She is such a good girl.  Minnie sleeps in her crate without a peep until about 7:00 AM.  She is generally good about not taking things that a puppy shouldn’t but she will try to counter surf when she smells food.  Lucky for FM, Minnie is too mini to actually reach the counter.

Minnie is absolute proof that great things come in small packages!

Meet Little Miss Minnie (and I mean mini)!Yellow Labrador Retriever

Although she’s the smallest of the three sisters, this little girl certainly doesn’t know it.  She was well behaved for her bath and was wonderful for the ride to the vet and then to her foster home.  Yellow Labrador RetrieverShe weighed in at a mere 18lbs. Although she was understandably scared at first meeting the resident dogs, she took some time to decompress and acts as if she’s been here all along.  She has inspected the entirety of the first floor without a care. She can easily run under Dolly and Gus with plenty of room to spare and this has them running in circles.  She has a hearty appetite (good thing because she needs to gain weight) and actually took a nap in the crate. Despite her petite stature, she has already figured out how to jump on the couch so she can wriggle behind me while I am sitting there.  She is a real cuddler and just wants to be where I am.

As I type this, she has her head on my lap and is resting happily.  Fingers crossed she is a good sleeper tonight!
