“Spring will come and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will get warmer.” – Anita KrizzanMittens is still patiently waiting for her forever home. She has been in foster care with me for 3 months now.  She arrived skinny, full of worms, and uncared for by her owners.  Now, Mittens is a happy, healthy and friendly girl weighing in at about 50lbs.  Labrador/GS mixShe loves to play tug and chase with other dogs, and walks well on a leash.  Labrador/GS mix Labrador/GS mixMittens is a smart girl and now knows “sit”, and is getting pretty good at “stay.”  I’m starting to work on “paw” and “down” but she hasn’t quite got those commands yets.

Mittens is super sweet and such a little darling.  Labrador/GS mixI know she will thrive in a home of her own. All she needs is someone to take a chance on her and show her what its like to be a pampered house pet!  Could you be her new spring fling that brings her years of happiness?

My girl is very easy going. Labrador/GS MixShe loves to play ball and hang out with her siblings.Labrador/GS Mix

She wasn’t a fan of the “sit” lessons over the weekend.  She preferred to lay in the shade not sit.

She also likes to relax on the dog bed in the shade. Mittens might also be a little fond of digging!Labrador/GS Mix Labrador/GS MixMittens shows you love by licking you. She is a sweetheart.Labrador/GS Mix

Mittens and Howie had a field trip to the park.

Her leash skills are really improving and she did really well in a new environment.

Mittens was a little hesitant to meet a stranger along the way but did come to see her and get a few pets.

Mittens is most comfortable when she is in a familiar spot and really loves playing with her siblings!

Mittens is healing well after her spay surgery.  Labrador/GS mixNow that everyone is fixed, they have been able to go in the big yard with the other dogs. Mitten was interested in meeting all everyone.

Mittens is social and playful.  She likes to play ball with her siblings.

But also likes to just hang out and chill.

Mittens is doing great with her leash training and is hoping that she finds her forever home soon!Labrador/GS mix

Mittens had a couple of busy days. Mittens and her sisters were brought to the vet on March 3 to get spay.  They have come a really long way thanks to their foster working on their socialization and leash skills.

Mittens does well on the leash and took the vet appointment all in stride.

The next day the girls were picked up and were super happy to see foster Mom and Dad!

Mittens and her sisters, Wynter, Iclyn, and Gusty are all staying in the side yard away from the other dogs since they are still unaltered and we don’t need any accidental litters coming along.

The girls all like hanging out together and playing chase with each other. Especially Mittens, and Gusty and sometimes Iclyn.

Mittens and Gusty especially like to have a game of chase.

Mittens likes to chill on her dog bed when she ready to take a rest from all the playing.Labrador/German Shepherd MixWhen it’s time to clean out their pen, they all like to supervise.  I imagine their conversation goes something like this:

Gusty: Yall think she needs helping cleaning our pen?
Iclyn: She looks like she’s doing fine.
Labrador/German Shepherd MixMittens: We can supervise
Wynter: Word!Labrador/German Shepherd Mix

Mittens had a hard start to life. Her parents are outside dogs in Arkansas, and Mittens and her littermates were not wanted or cared for by their owner, and were left to fend for themselves. When they were found by a good Samaritan, they were underweight and full of worms. They are now currently in a foster home with a rescue in AR who reached out to Brookline to help rehome them. Mittens has gained weight and has been treated medically and is now waiting for her forever family to come along.

Mittens can be shy with new people but with time trusts her caretakers and loves attention. Mittens is usually the first of the litter to run over to get pets and give out some kisses when her people are near.Labrador/German Shepherd Mix Labrador/German Shepherd Mix Labrador/German Shepherd MixShe also loves to play with toys with her people and her littermates. A friendly game of tug with her littermates is one of her favorite things to do! Mittens would do best with a furry friend in the home to help build her confidence and trust in her new people.

Mittens would love to learn all about the joys of living indoors and what it’s like to be loved on by her people.

The litter is currently living in a shed with a fenced run and they keep their living quarters clean. She is food motivated so she should house train readily.Labrador/German Shepherd MixMittens is good with other dogs but has not been exposed to cats.Labrador/German Shepherd MixPlease give this sweet girl a chance to find out what it’s like to be loved and warm and safe in a home of her own!
