Raven #7 Black Labrador Retriever Mix Female 2 Years Old ID #3363
Meet Raven. Raven is an approximately 2 yo petite (45lbs) Black Lab mix who was found abandoned in a cemetery and was brought to an Ocean County shelter. She arrived at the shelter with severe dermatitis and hair loss but was treated with daily medicated baths while there. Staff there reported her to be loving, happy, playful, and very smart and she is great on leash and loves her walks. Raven was even used for leash dog meets to evaluate other dogs at the shelter because she was so good. Please read Raven’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about her while in foster care.

Raven has been with us for about a week and a half now and she is still very sweet. She loves to play ball. She will always want to play keep away unless we have a second ball or toy ready to throw. She will then drop the first and wait patiently for us to throw the next one.
She is much better on leash now still needs a little work but is not always pulling. She seems to be itching and chewing on her paws more. We have vet visit tomorrow to check into that. She continues to improve with responding to her name.We left her alone at home with the cats for a few hours today. She did fine. She was laying on her bed when we got home.

Raven is doing very well. We did some travel this weekend. She loves being in the car. She is starting to recognize and respond to her name. We left her alone for the first time at home and she did very well. We are quickly discovering she will need a home with as fenced in yard, she has got quite the nose and loves to explore. Very playful! She loves her ball but does try to play “keep away” with it.
She is a sweetheart; we have not found a person or other pet she does not like. Getting along well with the cats. Barks on occasion but not to excess. She met the next-door neighbor’s dog and now watches for her out the window almost like she is asking, “can I go Play”.She is starting to listen well and comes when called, MOST of the time.

This beautiful little girl made her way to her foster home yesterday. Big thanks to the Brookline volunteers for springing her from the shelter and bringing her about halfway. What a friendly loving little girl. She is very excited to be free from the shelter. Raven loves attention and is very active. Even with all her energy, she settled down and rode in the truck perfectly. When we got home, she explored a bit, ate and drank, met the cats, and settled right in. We discover she likes to pull a lot on leash, so we switched to a harness which made a great difference. She loves toys of any kind and has a great ball drive. She met a few of the neighbors and loved all the attention.
