Ruby #4 Black Labrador Retriever Mix Female 5 Months Old ID#3492
October 8, 2024
Ruby had her vet follow up and passed with flying colors. She has gained 9 lbs. over the past month and the vet said she is looking very healthy! She received her first round of vaccines and will return next week for her 2nd. She loves riding in the car.
The vet also said it is okay to take her for walks and she can be around other dogs as long as they are fully vaccinated. She had a play date with my son’s puppy and she did great!
Even when Harper took her piggy

She adores her FD or maybe it’s just his chair.
But I still get some snuggle time with this sweet girl
Stay tuned for more updates. Ruby will be available shortly.

Ruby says, “Happy Friday!”
This pretty puppy is making so much progress in such a short time. She is such a smart girl! She has mastered sit and paw and will stay for her meals until I tell her to eat. We continue to work on stay and come, which I don’t have any doubt she will conquer soon.
We are about 90% potty trained. She does enjoy being able to go in and out through the dog door.
Mastering the dog door
She very curious and loves to play.
Ruby livin’ her best life!
Some other things that she loves are her bone
Snuggles
and the sun
She also loves carrots and blueberries!
Ruby is not a fan of a few things.
- small critters (cats, squirrels, birds and chipmunks). It’s not that she doesn’t like them, maybe she likes them too much and when she sees them, the chase is on. She will actively search for the cats in the house!
- Peanut butter. I’ve never met a dog that didn’t enjoy PB, but not Ruby. Thankfully, she loves yogurt, pumpkin and applesauce for her lick pad.
Ruby has a follow up appointment with the vet next week and we are looking forward to being cleared to go for walks and meet our doggy neighbors. Stay tuned!

Hi!
It’s me Ruby! I am all settled in at my foster home and I’m feeling so much better! I’m eating like a champ even though I lost 2 of my baby teeth. FD found it because he stepped on it in his bare feet and it got stuck in his heel. He was really mad (not at me, at FM because she couldn’t stop laughing). FM said I needed to put my tooth under my pillow for the tooth fairy and the next morning my tooth was gone but I got a tasty bone. I love it!
FM has been teaching me all kinds of things. I’m learning to ring a bell when I need to go outside for a potty break. Speaking of potty breaks, I’m slowly getting the hang of it. I need more practice but I’m getting better every day.
I was really excited to learn my first command. FM tells me to sit and when I put my butt on the floor, I get a tasty little treat. Watch me!
Well, that’s it for now. Stay tuned for more updates as my true puppy personality comes out more and more every day.

Hi everyone!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ruby. I am a 5 month old lab mix puppy. I was at ACCT Philly and I wasn’t feeling so good because I have a virus called Parvo, so the nice people there called Brookline to see if they had a foster home that I could go to and get better. Next thing I know another nice lady named Deb came and picked me up and brought me to my new home. This is me walking up the steps to meet my fosters.
My FM wasn’t home from work yet but FD was there and took me to see my new backyard. There’s so much room and grass everywhere!I then got to meet one of my FBs and one of the family’s cats. The cat made some weird noises when I got near him so I left him alone.
When I met my FM, I liked her right away. She sat on the floor and gave me scratches and then I curled up in her lap and took a little snooze. FM tried to give me a little bit of chicken and rice with my medicine but I didn’t want to eat and I really don’t like taking medicine. FM said giving me medicine is like “wrestling an alligator”! It was a long day for everyone and my belly still wasn’t feeling good, so we all went to bed early. I slept in my crate even though I didn’t want to go in and I whined a little so FD turned on music and I slept all night until FM went to work. Now that I have been here for 2 days this is what my FM and FD know about me.
1) I am the perkiest Parvo pup they have ever seen! It doesn’t even seem like I have a virus at all. I have so much energy and I love to play.
2) I have a lot to learn. My manners aren’t the best and I’m really not sure about this “potty outside” thing but FM said everybody has something to learn so her and FD are going to teach me everything I need to know. FD said I’m already really smart cause I know what piece of chicken he tries to hide my medicine in and I push that one aside.3) Another thing I need to learn is how to walk on a leash. FM said that when I’m all better we are going to take a lot of walks so I need to learn not to pull when I have my leash on.4) I love to be loved! I especially like belly scratches, head rubs, and snuggles.Stay tuned for future updates as my family gets to know more and more about wonderful little me.
Love,
Ruby
