Sadie #13 Black Labrador Retriever Female 1 Year Old ID #3496

January 16, 2025

Sadie continues to be a good house guest! We don’t need our alarm clocks because Sadie will let us know when it’s time to get up and take her outside! Sadie doesn’t mind walking outside when it’s cold and she loves playing in the snow.

She has had so much fun getting to know our neighborhood dogs who are also Brookline alumni!  They run in the fenced yard together and have a rip-roaring good time!  Sadie is not concerned about other dogs and she became best friends with the neighborhood dogs immediately. We will introduce her to a neighborhood cat soon.

It has been fun teaching Sadie some tricks. She knows: sit, place and leave it!  We place a tiny treat on her paw and she won’t eat it until we give her the OK! So cute!  We are working on shake but Sadie likes to lie down instead of giving us her paw!

Sadie will enjoy being with a family who is able to give her plenty of play time, company and exercise. She would enjoy living with another friendly dog with the same energy level that she has! Sadie doesn’t like to be left home alone for too long. She started nibbling on foster dad’s shoe while we were gone. She said she was sorry!black labrador retriever mix

She is a beautiful soul with the sweetest personality!

Meet Sadie – An adorable 67-pound black lab we started to foster right before Christmas.  Sadie is everything a one-year-old lab should be!  She’s energetic and enjoys walking 3-4 miles each day.  She loves finding sticks on our walks and is friendly to the other dogs we encounter.

Sadie is house trained and quickly learned which door to stand by when she needs to go outside.  She’s a good eater but does not counter surf or beg for people’s food.  Sadie will go in her crate with a peanut butter filled bone but prefers to have free roam of the house. She is trustworthy and has never chewed on stray shoes, pillows, socks, or furniture.  Sadie likes to sleep with her humans. Her only downfall is that she takes up more than her fair share of the bed! Sadie sleeps through the night and likes to rise around 6:30 AM.Black Labrador

Sadie can be timid when she first meets a new human but it doesn’t take long for her to warm up. Sadie is good with men, women and college aged kids. She hasn’t been “small kid” tested but due to her size and energy she should probably be around children who are able to move out of her way when she is being playful! Sadie likes to lick us, enjoys tummy rubs and loves to chase balls down the hallway.  She is a cuddle bug.  When we slow down for the evening, Sadie loves to be right next to us on the sofa!

Sadie enjoys car rides and likes to have people around during the day. She’s very social!  It has been so much fun fostering this very sweet girl! I can’t begin to tell you what a struggle it has been to resist adopting her myself!

Sadie had a parasite at her initial vet checkup.  She was on five days of meds and needs to have a recheck on January 21. The vet said sometimes a second dose of meds is needed. Other than that Sadie is a happy and healthy girl!  She is going to be a wonderful companion to a lucky family!
