Snoopy #2 Black Labrador Retriever Mix Male 12 Years Old ID#2652

black labrador retriever mix Snoopy is a 12 year old black labrador mix that has fallen on some hard times.  His 92 year old owner can no longer care for her companion, and her extended family has asked for help in finding him a loving home.  Snoopy is a handsome, sweet senior with lots of love to give.  Please read his blog from the bottom up.

black labrador retriever mixSnoopy has been with us now for about six weeks. He went to the vet this morning for a check up and he has lost about 10 pounds! He was 86 pounds when we got him and now he’s 76… He loves his walks and he’s also been getting exercise playing with our resident dog Toby. black labrador retriever mixSnoopy has finished his antibiotics that he took for his positive Lyme results, and the veterinarian checked a little lump we found under his right arm but it’s just a fatty tumor.  She suggested putting him on Glucosamine for his joint discomfort and possible arthritis, but otherwise, he is in great shape and good spirits and he’s a real sweetheart. black labrador retriever mixHe greets people at the door with a wagging tail and any time one of our family members comes home he’s very excited to see them and makes everyone smile.

black labrador retriever mixSnoopy has had a great week with us. We are all getting into a routine with feeding time, walks, and the kids school schedules.  He has really changed over 3 weeks time.  Snoopy is really showing his personality now, and totally tolerates our young dog, Toby….actually I think he is starting to like Toby!  They play together and walk outside, side by side, and they are starting to take naps near each other. black labrador retriever mixHe is super sweet and gentle, and doesn’t make a peep unless he really needs something, then he has a gentle whine….The only time I have heard him bark is when he was excited to go for a walk, and I couldn’t get his leash on fast enough!!  He has another few weeks to finish up some antibiotics, then we will take him in for a check-up. black labrador retriever mixI think he may have lost a little weight from being a bit more active!  He loves his walks, but tires out a bit, and can’t go too far, even though you can tell he wants to!  He is a real sweetheart, and a joy to have around.

black labrador retriever mixSnoopy is doing really well! He has upped his game on play time with our two-year-old dog, and really gets excited for walks !!  He is a little bit of a picky eater, and seems to have been fed a lot from the table because he’s more interested in what we are eating than his own dog food! We are working on it though, and when he’s hungry enough, he will eat his dog food.

My family is becoming attached in little ways with him. Snoopy is very sweet, and gentle, and kind, and approachable, and seems to be settling in well here… I am sure he misses his old owner, but he always seems really happy to see us when we walk in a room. When I’m working at my computer, Snoopy is always right nearby!

black labrador retriever mixSnoopy has been with us for almost a week now, and every day he seems more and more calm, comfortable, and relaxed. He is even tolerating our two-year-old little pest lab-mix who runs circles around him. He’s becoming pretty spunky himself! black labrador retriever mixThis is senior gentleman is a true sweetheart, and is just happy to be around people, and in a comfortable spot.  He will make a wonderful companion for somebody who is looking for a buddy to walk around the yard with, or to take short walks around the neighborhood. black labrador retriever mixHe does not demand a whole lot, but does like to get his leash put on, and taken for a stroll!  He takes plenty of naps, and I have not heard him bark yet.  He just lets us know when he wants to go outside, and is really a pleasant guy to have around.

black labrador retriever mixSnoopy seems to have found his comfortable spot in our house… He keeps going to the same room to go lie down, and when our two-year-old dog gets anywhere near him he gives her a warning basically saying “this is my spot leave me alone”…He’s super friendly with her when they are both standing up and walking around, but if he’s lying down trying to rest, and Toby gets near him, he lets her know who’s boss!  Snoopy is really good with the kids and good on a leash it really seems to like my husband Michael… He looks up to him and listens when he hears his voice.  Snoopy had a great night overnight last night… He slept all night, and he naps a good part of the day as well. black labrador retriever mixHe definitely gets a skip in his step when we head out on the leash, or just to head out in the backyard and then he realizes that he might need to slow down a little it seems that his joints may be a bit sore:). …We are going to try to give him a bath later…

black labrador retriever mix Snoopy arrived in our home a few hours ago.  He was really happy, and waggy when he got out of the car.  He explored all around the backyard, and met his foster family. Snoopy is very sweet, and gentle.

We made the introduction to our two-year-old lab mix Toby, and they seem to like each other a lot… Toby is 10 years his junior, and has a lot more energy but Snoopy seems to want to play with her!!  He hasn’t really settled down enough to lie down comfortably inside the house… I keep showing him where his bed is but he’s not interested yet.  He had some dog food, and took his Lyme pill!!
