June 15, 2024Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Lazy Saturday here with Sophie. She’s lounging and can hardly deep her eyes open. Her busy week included a visit to the vet to get micro- chipped. The vet techs loved her and commented “Oh my what big paws you have!” They recommended that Sophie try out Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach formula along with fish oil tablets to improve her skin and coat. She is weighing in at 78lbs which is a good weight for her. We will keep an eye on the treats because we tend to over serve given her sappy eyes! All in all, she is integrated into the cat pack here and doing well. We have her crate available but she’s got full run of house. Occasionally she swings by her crate for a nap. Sophie is a lively yet very controlled girl. She is a people pleaser and knows how to work the foster parents over for lots of treats and car rides.Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Sophie has had a great couple of days since she arrived.  She took a trip to the bay where she enjoyed some relaxing time with the foster family.  We took many walks on the beach and Sophie has begun to show off her personality.  She is beginning to play with toys and fetch.  She wasn’t a big fan of the water she just waded in at the edge. She is a little afraid of the waves, this is all new to her.

She has met various people and dogs with no reaction.   She gets along with everyone.   The neighbors all stopped in to visit and pet her up.  The dogs she has met have all been smaller breeds.  She sometimes barks initially to greet new comers but not always.

On the home front, the cats are get used to her being around.  She is so sweet and docile with them and their hissing antics.  She has never reacted to them and seems to be intimidated by them.

Sophie is sleeping all night and is a lazy girl in the morning.  She sleeps until we get up and has free run of the house with no issues.

Sophie does love to lay on the sofa and we are working on redirecting her to the dog bed.  She is very used to being on the furniture and beds but with a treat she is happy to move to her big barker dog bed.

She is much calmer and more relaxed now that she has had several days with us.  Her tail is wagging.  And she leans in for lots of petting and rubs.  She is a very loving Labrador. Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Sophie got picked up yesterday from her owner. She got a ride to her new faster home in the Yukon she likes car rides. We stopped for a long dog walk on the way. After meeting foster Mom, Sophie and i went to Tractor Supply for a dog bath and picked out some dog food since we didn’t come with anything.

After a long day she took a nap on the couch. Labrador RetrieverSophie slept through the night 6 plus hours no problems. Day 1 went well at the foster home with walks and yard time along with another afternoon nap on the couch it’s becoming a habit.Labrador Retriever
