Stallion Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Male ~1 Year Old ID#3436

Chocolate Labrador Retriever MixMeet Stallion!  Stallion (also known as Scooter at Kamp) is your typical goofy, outgoing, affection Labrador Mix.  By no fault of his own, Stallion was in a shelter in NJ.  Unfortunately, he had been timestamped and was going to be euthanized due to the length of his stay at the shelter and an ongoing overcrowding issue there.  Luckily for this handsome boy, a shelter volunteer reached out to Brookline and his is now safely in our care.  Please read his blog from the bottom up to learn more about him.

Stallion aka Scooter has been trying out some new things!  He’s been learning how much fun it is to play in the pool on these hot days! Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever MixHe was so happy to be able to play with a friend again now that he is healed from his surgery.Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix

He loves playing with other dogs!  He’s been such a good boy.Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever MixHe also got to go on a field trip to Tractor Supply.  He was a star! He met several people and a nice Golden Retriever.

Stallion aka Scooter also met a cat at Kamp.  He didn’t know what to think!  He did bark a little bit, but then seemed scared after the cat decided she wasn’t interested in making a new friend and started hissing.Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix

He has been doing a great job learning “down” and “stay.”Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix

Stallion is doing great!  He is very social with people and other dogs.  He loves to explore the yard and go for walks.  He’s been great on leash, walking quietly without pulling.  He had a vet exam yesterday and will be getting neutered next Friday.  Chocolate Labrador Retriever MixLook for this handsome boy becoming available once he has recovered from his neuter surgery!

Stallion was pulled from the shelter on June 8 and has been settling in to his new digs at Kamp.  He has been very good with all the staff and is very sweet.Chocolate Labrador Retriever MixHe is not very food motivated with the treats tried so far but he might just still be so distracted by all the new things.Chocolate Labrador Retriever Mix Chocolate Labrador Retriever MixWhen Stallion first hit the big yard, he got the zoomies for about 30 seconds, then spent the rest of his time outside sniffing all the new smells.  He didn’t even try to chase the swallows that were zooming low over the grass searching for bugs!

He walks well on leash, and currently gets happy and excited to see other dogs and barks some.  Stallion will be working on his leash manners with the trainer at Kamp.

Today, Stallion met Bear out in the yard.  He was a very good boy, and had a great time playing with his new friend.
