Striker Yellow Labrador Retriever Male 6 Years Old ID #3278

October 15, 2024

Guess who’s sleeping upstairs now???

He started a little shaky but now climbing up and down the stairs with no issues.

Also we were working our way up to crate training and he is now using the crate as his home base.

Gate is left open and he goes in all by himself to have some personal space.

Foster mom is so proud.

Striker is slowly coming out of his shell and starting to adjust to his new surroundings. It’s been wonderful to watch his progress! He’s still marking, but the frequency has significantly decreased compared to the first few days.

Last Monday, he had his staples removed, and he totally charmed the staff at the vet’s office! Everyone there was taken with his sweet personality.

When it comes to other dogs, Striker and our resident dog get along just fine, but they seem content to do their own thing. No conflicts, just a peaceful coexistence.

One quirk we’ve noticed is that Striker isn’t a fan of stairs. He won’t go up them at all, no matter how much we encourage him. He’s also a bit hesitant about going outside alone, even in our fenced-in yard. He seems to prefer having company nearby.

Despite his reserved nature, Striker is such a sweet boy. He loves being close and enjoys your presence but isn’t much for cuddling just yet. He’ll lean into you and stay near your face, giving you that heart-melting look without asking for too much physical affection.

We’re sure with a little more time, he’ll continue to gain confidence and feel even more at home. Stay tuned for more updates as we help this gentle soul thrive!

Striker is doing great for day 2

He had a first rough night with lots of accidents but we expected that.

He hasn’t ventured up the stairs or on the couch like our resident dog but will see if that sticks.

No problem with appetite or drinking water.

He did counter surfed in the middle of the night when he thinks nobody is looking.

We are in the Poconos for the weekend and he loves all the attention from the kiddos but still looks sad most of the time .

Hoping to see some goofy grins from him soon.
