Sunshine #2 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 5 Years Old ID #2904

September 14, 2021

Sunshine is a happy go lucky little lady. She is back to her full potential. Her final orthopedic appointment was moved to next week but we are expecting a full clearance from her surgeon! She loves play time with her fur siblings and loves belly rubs. She is ALWAYS happy. This little girl dances when you talk to her. She waits for you at the bottom of the steps with a big smile on her face. She loves her longer walks and just goes along her merry way paying no attention to anything else around her.

She really is a ray of sunshine!

Sunshine has her final orthopedic appointment on 9/14 for full clearance. Her only restriction at this time is jumping but we expect a clean bill of health from her orthopedic at the visit. She loves to cuddle and get belly rubs all day. She enjoys her playtime with her foster siblings but does not like sharing affection. We feel she would be best suited as an only dog with the opportunity for dog parks or daycare to get her playtime in. She was able to help me babysit my 2-year-old niece and loved playing with her so a family with children would be fine!

It was bath day and her blonde curls are seen down her back. She is not a fan of water but she sits and lets us bath her without any problems!yellow Labrador Retriever

Sunshine is living her best life. She is up to long walks about 30 minutes long and she is officially off all of her pain medication! Her personality is really starting to shine. She is always happy and loves to cuddle. She appears to be pain free for the first time since coming to our home. We can’t wait to see how her personality continues to grow! She has her final orthopedic appointment in September and we’re hoping they clear her for full activity.

She spent the week on vacation and enjoys lounging on the patio in the sunshine ☀️

Sunshine’s doing well! She had her follow up appointment with her orthopedic surgeon today and had x-rays performed to evaluate her healing. The doctor said she’s healing beautifully and most of the bone is completely healed. She was cleared to go on longer walks 15-30 minutes in length so we will start that up soon! It was recommended to start weaning down off of her Gabapentin and she has been off of her anti-inflammatory medication for 2 whole weeks.

I’m also happy to report she was on a mediated diet when she came to us for GI digestion but we’ve successfully transitioned her to Purina Pro Plan without any issues!

Sunshine is doing great! She is 4 weeks out from her ACL repair and has progressed to small walks. She no longer requires assistance using the steps but we still have her on very limited activity. Her spunk is BACK! And she wants to play nonstop with our resident pups.

She got to spend the last week up the Poconos where we tried to do some water aerobics in the pool to help with her muscle movement but she does not like the water! She let us bath her but wanted nothing to do with pool playtime. This spunky girl loves toys and will pull every toy out of her play bin until she finds the perfect one. But don’t get me wrong she loves some R and R. She finds the perfect spot in the sunshine and just relaxes for hours!yellow Labrador Retriever

Sunshine is feeling much more like her playful self!

She is still on activity restriction but she is able to spend a little more time outside. She wants to jump around and play all day. She spent the day in the Poconos lounging on our deck again. She really loves lounging and staring out our window. She doesn’t appear to be in pain any longer and is walking without a limp! Which is great to see!

Her surgical wound is healed up nicely and her hair on her leg is growing back in fast. This little girl will be back to her playful self in no time.

She loves her night time routine and will get comfortable even if her bed isn’t placed out.3 yellow labrador retrievers and one black

Sunshine has had a very busy week. She had a TPLO surgery on Saturday to repair her torn left ACL! yellow Labrador RetrieverThe surgery went well and she came home Saturday night. She was sleepy and just wanted to relax.yellow Labrador Retriever

Sunday, she did well. The nerve block she had in place started to wear off and she started placing some pressure on that back leg. Her pain is controlled and she is just as happy as ever to see us and be near the other dogs.

You can see how much it kills her to limit her activity.yellow Labrador Retriever She can’t wait to feel better and be back playing with the other dogs.

It’s going to be a long 12 weeks for her as she gains her strength back but she seems to be up for the challenge.

Sunshine is a treat!yellow Labrador Retriever She is so well trained. Comes when called, sits and lays on command, stays until called.

She loves playing with our resident pups.

We took her to our mountain house this past weekend and she loved laying on the deck in the sun. She was not a fan of the pool but she did let us give her a bath with little to no whining about it. She has her appointment with the orthopedic tomorrow to get a plan for her torn ACL in place!

Sunshine had an adventurous day! yellow Labrador RetrieverShe went to a vet appointment to evaluate her current medications and they decided to increase her Gabapentin dose. She LOVES car rides and loved meeting new people at the vet.

She was a hit. She wasn’t fearful with loud noises as mentioned in her evaluation by her previous owner and just keeps on wagging her tail. She doesn’t seem to be bothered by anything. Very easy-going personality. yellow Labrador Retriever and three other dogsThe vet agreed with her diagnosis of left ACL tear and she’s just awaiting her evaluation with Ortho coming up in June.

We got a call today from the Orthopedic Vet our vet referred us to and she has her evaluation with them on June 11th to talk about the extent of her injury and the surgical options. Sunshine LOVES food and dances around when it’s time to eat. She got some playtime in with our resident dogs today and fits right into the family.
