Meet Trila! Trila is a beautiful, 70lb, eight year old silver Labrador who is need of a foster home. Trila lived on a breeding farm and was recently rehomed to a new owner as the original owners no longer had the time or finances to care for her. The new owner now needs to rehome them as she is not interacting well with the barn cats on the property.
Trila is very sweet and friendly. Trila was excellent with the 3 young children (5yrs-7mths old) that lived on the farm and she is easy going, friendly and eager to socialize with other dogs.
Trila currently has free roam on the farm, and stays in the garage so she will need to be house trained while in foster care. She is not afraid to go through doors and walks nicely on a slip leash.
Trila loves to be petted and get attention. Please read the blog from the bottom up.

Trila is doing well with her foster parents! She is calm, gentle, and loving. She follows her foster dad around the house wherever he goes. She enjoys sleeping on the couch or floor throughout the day.
Her foster parents have been working on training to help her feel more comfortable being alone, so she doesn’t always have to stay right next to a person. Slowly, she is showing signs of independence.
Trila is hopeful that her forever family will find her soon. She is looking for a quiet home with loving humans who can spend time with her and keep her company. Trila is great with kids and would prefer to be the only pet in the home. She is incredibly loyal and has a lot of love to give. She can’t wait for someone to welcome her into their family.

Trila had a sleep over at another Brookline volunteers while her FM and FD went on vacation. She was given a great house guest update.
We had the pleasure of having Trila as a houseguest while her FD and FM were away for a week. She is a sweet dog with soulful eyes and a very easy guest! Trila is calm, quiet (no barking), and just loves receiving all the love she can get! She was an amazing pup with our two granddaughters ( 3 1/2 and 1 1/2), who spent two days here, and was gentle with both girls and let them pet her and love on her with no problem.
She walks well on a leash and is non-reactive to other dogs she encounters. Trila had no accidents in our house and slept through every night she was here. Anyone who adopts her will be very lucky to have her.

Trila had another good week. We’ve been focusing on socialization and training her to be left alone. Thursday of this week, we took Trila to a Pride Parade in a neighboring town. Trila was able to see lots of people, kids, and other dogs. She remained calm the entire time and welcomed pets and people meeting her. Saturday and Sunday, Trila got to go to two different local farmers markets. Again, she was able to see a lot of people and dogs, doing very well on leash in a crowded area.
In terms of training, we’ve been training Trila with being left alone. Early in the week, she was baby-gated in our living room while FD worked in a different room. She whined in the beginning (she loves her pets and being by one of our feet), but eventually she settled and fell asleep. Later in the week, it was time for phase 2. This phase included closing the door that FD was in and leaving Trila in the living room. She could be heard pacing around but eventually settled and when FD came out after approximately 1.5 hours, she was asleep on the couch.

Trila has been very busy and fun few days. Friday night, she went to a neighborhood festival. She was sweet and gentle as usual and made new friends as we walked around. Because she is such a pretty and relaxed dog, many people stopped to greet her and ask about her. She liked walking around, getting petted, and meeting new people.
On Saturday, Trila went to a meet and greet with Brookline with some other dogs at Tractor Supply Co. She had a nice and peaceful sniff meeting with Philbin. Trila also got lots of pets and attention from visitors and volunteers. She did well and experienced all the sights and smells at the event.
Trila met two of her foster mom’s visiting friends on Saturday night and enjoyed some quiet time in the backyard getting petted.
She is really starting to become very comfortable in her foster home. She is full of love and cuddles and is very loyal, kind, and calm.

Trila has been doing well but has experienced some changes and a bit of movement lately. Her foster parents went on vacation this past week, so Trila stayed with another Brookline foster, and her family. They have a lot of land, farm animals, and plenty of room for exploration. Trila was polite when meeting their ferret named Kevin. She seemed to be settling in well with Tory’s family and enjoyed spending time with Tory’s twin daughters and husband.
Trila had a meeting with prospective adopters who have a male Lab of the same age. The initial meeting went well; she was a little apprehensive, but we decided to proceed with the initial adoption process. She went home with the prospective adoptive family, but unfortunately, she was unable to get along with their resident dog. It was a tough decision, as the family had grown fond of her in a short time, but ultimately, they decided it wasn’t the right fit.
Trila is back with her foster parents and is hoping to find her forever home soon. She would do best as the only pet in the household. Trila has so much love to give and is often seen following her foster dad around and snuggling on the couch.

Trila is a beautiful 8‑year‑old silver Lab with the gentlest soul. Although Trila was matched with a family, it turned out not to be the best fit, and she remains available for adoption.
Trila is sweet, calm, and incredibly affectionate. She loves being close to her people, snoozing on the couch, following you around the house, and soaking up all the pets. She’s a lower‑energy girl who would be happiest as the Queen Bee in a peaceful home filled with love and routine.
In foster care, Trila has shown:
- She’s excellent with children
- House training is going great — no accidents
- Sleeps quietly through the night
- Enjoys leisurely walks + sniffing adventures
- Loves carrying her favorite ball
- Spayed, healthy, and up to date on vaccinations
- Heartworm negative
Trila’s ideal home would:
- Have no other pets
- Have a fenced-in yard since she has shown some prey drive towards cats
- Have family members home more often than not
- Not crate her as she has shown some resistance to crating
This sweet girl has spent her whole life giving to others. Now it’s her turn to be spoiled, adored, and treasured. Trila is ready for a quiet home, a comfy couch, and someone who will love her for the rest of her days

We have had Trila just shy of two weeks. She has reached 10 days post-spay and is no longer wearing her cone. Her stitches are healing nicely, and she is not licking the area.
Wednesday of this past week, we had to leave Trila alone as FD needed to go into the office. We baby-gated her in the living room. We had a dog walker set to come at about half-way through the day. Trila also had on her cone since she was still healing. When the dog walker arrived, she discovered Trila had broken down the baby-gate and gotten into the trash. There was no evidence that she ate any of the trash; this appears to be a fear/anxiety behavior. FM was able to come home from work for the afternoon, as we wanted to keep both Trila and our house safe. We are still working on crate training, but she hasn’t been left alone since Wednesday.
On Sunday, Trila met another BL foster dog, Dex. Dex was friendly and playful, and while Trila tolerated the initial sniffs, she had no interest in playing and stayed by FD’s side. Trila gave Dex warning groans to not get too close to her. The groans turned to growls as Dex didn’t understand the warning. When the humans were giving Dex pets, Trila seemed jealous and proceeded to bark and snap at Dex. Dex just wanted to play! She hasn’t had a lot of interactions with dogs since she’s been with us, but she’s showing signs that she may do best in a home as the only pet (no other cats or dogs). We were told Trila was compatible with other dogs, as she lived on a farm that had 7 dogs and had no issues.
Despite having a tough couple of days, Trila remains a sweetheart and loves people. She has met adults and children and loves the attention and pets.

We have officially had Trila for one week!
She has been doing fantastic. She continues to do well with using the potty outside and has had no accidents so far. Trila had a quiet and restful weekend recovering from her spay surgery. Today, she started back up with short walks and is already showing improvement while walking on a leash. She remains calm and sweet, enjoying her time lounging around.
She did test boundaries by trying to jump on our bed, which we do not allow. However, she is permitted on the couch and has been happily jumping up there for some comfy lounging. Trila enjoys lying with her head on FD’s lap while on the couch.

Trila’s spay surgery went well on Thursday, April 30th. She’s been resting and getting better at her foster home, and wearing her “cone of shame” while she heals. On Friday, May 1st, she’s already more awake, has more energy, and has her appetite back.
Trila is still doing great with her house training and hasn’t had any accidents inside. We are waiting longer between bathroom trips to help her learn. She still enjoys carrying her ball around, but doesn’t like staying in her crate for more than a quick treat. She still sleeps through the whole night without needing to go outside. She’s been mostly sleeping between potty breaks and getting pets. She’s a sweet girl and would be a good fit for a home looking for a lower-energy pup.

Trila had another good 24 hours. We are still working on crate training as she seems very uninterested in going inside. Still no accidents in the house and we have widened the times between potty breaks. The video is of her playing fetch. She’ll chase the ball and bring it back, but getting her to give the ball up is hard. She has the ball most the of time even wandering around our house. It seems to be her favorite toy. Walking on leash is also a work in progress, but she’s very stimulated while on walks with all of the new smells. Bloodwork came back from the vet today. She is heartworm negative, no lyme or other tick related diseases and overall everything looks good. We will get the fecal results back tomorrow. She is all set for her spay appointment tomorrow. She remains the sweetest girl that just wants pets and love.

Trila had a good day helping FD work from home. She mostly rested and slept. She went outside to potty every few hours because she’s learning to only use the bathroom outside. She went on a walk of over a mile with FD and enjoyed sniffing. She’s still learning to walk on a leash and pulled a bit. She’s also learning she can’t wander into other people’s yards. She likes to follow us and is doing well, considering she’s used to living on a farm.

Trila had a long first day on Monday. She was rescued from a farm, and we picked her up in Lancaster County. She didn’t like getting in the car, but she did relax during the drive.
She got a bath at TSC after about a 45-minute drive. She walked well on her leash in the store, but didn’t like being lifted into the washing area. She handled the water and washing okay, and we did our best because we had a vet appointment later. Then, we drove 45 minutes from TSC to the vet. She was great at the vet; they even said it didn’t seem like her first visit, even though it might have been. Her weight was 65 lbs. We are waiting for her blood and fecal test results. The vet workers removed many ticks from her. We got home, and Trila explored the yard and house. She ate some food, drank water, and went outside to potty. Trila is still learning about the crate. She doesn’t want to go in, even with treats and toys. FD slept on the couch, and Trila slept on the floor in the same room all night. There were no accidents overnight or on the first day.
