Yukon Black Labrador Retriever Male 8 Years Old ID#3329
This sweet 8 yr. old gentleman is hoping to find his forever home with a family who are looking for lots of kisses and cuddle time, mixed in with some ball playing and walks!
Yukon found himself in a shelter as a stray, and was being overlooked by potential adopters due to some hair loss. So he came into the rescue, and saw a specialist, who helped figure out what was going on, and get him on the road to looking and feeling much better! Yukon has had issues with his coat since he came into foster care. Yukon will always have his bare patches, but it doesn’t bother him or cause any problems. He just needs to wear a shirt in the summer to protect his skin from the sun. Despite his bare patches here and there, he is an absolute love who wants nothing more than to be your cuddle bug. Yukon loves everyone he meets and will greet you with the typical Lab’s wagging tail. He is crate trained, but good with free roam when his peeps are gone. He loves to play fetch, and finds birds to be fascinating creatures – he will happily chase them with no hope of ever catching them! Lap dog Yukon is hoping you can find a spot in your heart and on the couch for him! Please read his blog from the bottom up to learn more about him while in foster care.

I have been working a lot more with Yukon using the gentle leader on his walks. We’ve had the opportunity to practice walking past other dogs, and sometimes even going up to say “Hello.” There is a little Yorkie that he likes that visits Kamp when his owners come to Kamp do some grooming work.Yukon is not a fan of dogs that bark at him and it can get him all worked up but the gentle leader is helping to keep him calmer in that kind of situation.

Yukon got to go on an adventure through the woods. He loves walks and exploring!
Parks are Yukon’s favorite. Today, he went on a “sniffari” to a new park. He had a great time, nose to the ground almost the entire time.
He’s so good in the car. He hops in easily and settles down, completely relaxed. He is such a sweetie!

Yukon is so sweet and cuddly and such a good, good boy that I can not believe he hasn’t found his forever home yet! Yukon was a super good boy for the groomer and didn’t mind having two little dogs watch him while he got his bath. He’s not a huge fan when it comes to nail clipping time but since he has his spa day every two weeks, he’s getting used to the whole grooming process.
Yukon got a new toy and he was such a happy camper!!

Yukon is holding up pretty well in this hot weather, even though he’s not that interested in going in the puppy pool. He has a new stylish cooling jacket to help protect him from the sun’s strong rays. He’s such a happy boy, and so friendly with people. We are still working on getting him used to being around other dogs. Some of them he really likes and other’s not so much.
We’ve been going on lots of short walks, trying to keep in the shade, and his leash skills have really improved! He rarely pulls anymore so he has had great progress.
Yukon is still waiting patiently for his furever family to find him. This loving boy can’t wait to cover them in kisses.

Yukon is a happy camper! He just got a bath and came outside with a smile on his face and a spring in his step!
He’s been doing better meeting other dogs but still gets very excited to see them. He misses his friend Zoey, now that she moved to her forever home, but he got to meet two very sweet yellow Lab girls through the fence.
Yukon LOVES stuffed animals!

Today, Yukon and Zoey had some time out in the yard together. They both did very well, but neither wanted to play. Too many sniffs to sniff together!

The staff at the dermatologist’s office all remembered Yukon and greeted him like a celebrity! He was happy to accommodate with lots of tail wags and demands for more attention – this boy is not shy when it comes to being noticed.
The specialist was happy to see him doing so well – despite his hair loss, he is not itchy and did not show any sensitivity – it’s just Yukon’s distinctive style! Allergy testing showed that he has some environmental allergies, but with just an Omega 3 supplement, he’s doing well. Periodically he will get medicated baths to protect his skin and wearing a shirt when out in the sun during the hot summer months is like wearing sunscreen for us. So his accommodations are simple. If allergies should flair up, he can receive a specially concocted series of shots to help. But at this point, they are not needed.
Yukon is such an easy going guy – he was not at all stressed by the long trip or being at the vet’s. In fact, he promptly laid down and went to sleep while we waited! He did get excited when he saw other dogs, but was easily redirected. He’s just an absolute sweetheart.
So if you’re up for a guy who may not have all of his hair, but makes up for it with his sweet personality, then come meet Yukon!

It’s never too late to go back to school!
Yukon has been settling into Kamp and is doing great with all the staff so now it’s time to work on his doggie social skills. He’s curious and excited about other dogs, but isn’t really sure what to do when he sees them so we are going to slowly introduce him to some quiet and calm dogs. He’s been having a great time exploring the yard and going for walks.
This Friday, Yukon has an appointment with the specialist to get his skin issues back on track. Despite his hair loss, he is a happy boy who loves everyone he meets.Stay tuned for more updates!
