Zeus is still the favorite boy at BCK. He is sweet and happy. Zeus got to meet a family yesterday and he did great. He can be a little aloof at the first meeting. Zeus took a shine to the kids. He walked beautifully on lead. He listened to the kids when they told him to sit. They did have to pay a cookie tax. He gave the kids and mom big slobbery kisses to boot.
Zeus is still looking for his forever family. Zeus loves to go on walks. He pulls in the beginning because he is so excited to leave his kennel. He settles into a nice pace after a few minutes. Then he pulls when we get close to home base because he wants to take a nap.
He is not reactive to other dogs and has no prey drive. He is a big mush. Zeus does bark. He barks when I first get to BCK because he is excited to see me. He knows we are going for a walk. He will bark when he wants to get back home. This is something that an adopter will have to work on. I think it will stop over time once he gets settled. This boy is such a sweet guy. He also is good in the car but needs to be strapped in otherwise he will try to sit on your lap.
Zeus will need time and patience. Since he does bark, he shouldn’t live in a condo or townhouse where the neighbors are close. That could be disruptive. He is really such a great boy. He has so much love to give.

Zeus is doing so well! He’s such a love, and is so happy to be with his people. He’s learning to be a little more independent, wandering further away from me exploring, before feeling the need to come running back to me.
He does still bark, but he settles down fairly quickly now that he’s learned the routine. It will be a challenge for him to learn a new routine when he finally goes to a new home, and it will take some time for him to adjust, but if his adopters can be patient, it will be worth it! Zeus is such a special boy!!

I took Zeus on a field trip to a local park today. He absolutely loved it! He was good in the car, and then so happy to explore the trail. Now he’s enjoying a nap!

Zeus has so many wonderful qualities!
1) he loves people and is very cuddly.
2) he loves to go in the car and for walks.
3) he is calm on walks and doesn’t react to other dogs.
4) he has excellent recall because he really just wants to be with his people anyway.

Things we are still working on:
1) patience! When he is excited to do something or go somewhere, he does tend to bark and can be kind of pushy at doorways and gates. We are working on “wait” until released.
2) leash skills. He used to be very strong on leash because he hadn’t had any practice, but he is getting much better and rarely pulls anymore.
3) alone time. Having to live in a kennel for now, Zeus has learned that it’s OK to be alone sometimes. He does still bark when he sees someone and wants their attention, but he settles down much more quickly now.

Zeus is such a happy boy! He’s so affectionate and loves attention and cuddles.
He loves going for a walk and exploring. His leash skills are improving now that he’s getting more used to being on leash. He’s always excited to go out to have adventures, but does calm down pretty quickly, after about 5 to 10 minutes.
Zeus does do some barking while he is in his kennel but it has certainly lessened while he has been here. It seems like he previously learned that barking is an effective way of communicating. He likes to let us know that he is there and available for cuddles.
He is starting to lose a little weight and has gotten more fit with the exercise that he gets now.

Zeus recently made the move from his home to Kamp. This is a temporary arrangement until someone comes along that can foster, foster to adopt or adopt him!
Zeus is a sweetheart! He’s a big boy and strong on leash. He probably has not had much practice perfecting his leash walking skills.
Today, he met Blue. Zeus wasn’t interested in playing but they had fun running around they yard exploring together. Zeus got tired pretty easily and laid down in the shade after only about 10 minutes.
Zeus enjoyed cooling off in the little pool!

Zeus had his vet visit Friday and received some great news—he’s heartworm negative! He is eager to start a journey toward a healthier lifestyle by taking walks and experiencing new adventures with his forever family. While he’ll surely miss his furry siblings, he’s ready to share his big heart and even bigger love with someone special.

A Big-Hearted Companion
Zeus is a stunning, energetic pup with a lovable personality and tons of potential just waiting to be unlocked. With his deep, shiny chocolate coat, bright eyes, and expressive face, Zeus is sure to turn heads everywhere he goes. One of his best qualities is his sweet, affectionate nature. He thrives on human connection and is happiest when he’s near his people, especially if it means cuddling up on the couch.
Zeus has a soft, loving heart and is looking for a home where he can feel secure, cherished, and part of the family. Due to a recent family breakup, Zeus is looking for a fresh start with an experienced foster or foster to adopt or adopter who can provide structure, continued leash training, and consistent guidance. He’s a quick learner who just needs someone patient and committed to helping him shine. Zeus is a happy, enthusiastic greeter and tends to bark when meeting new people. But it’s all love—he’s simply thrilled to get attention and affection.
He’s confident, social, and has shown no fear, shyness, or issues towards humans. Zeus‘s pearly whites, clean ears, and his toned build speaks to how magnificent he is. He’s house-trained and has no destructive habits. Another big plus is that Zeus has no prey drive and shows no interest in cats, making him a great fit for homes with feline family members. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, beautiful eyes, and a playful spirit, especially with Tug O War, Zeus could be the perfect match. He just needs someone to believe in him—and in return, he’ll give you endless loyalty, cuddles, and love.
