Covid-19 Reopening Rules

To our friends & supporters,

We want to share the measures we are taking to ensure the safety of our volunteers and adopters as the coronavirus crisis continues to affect our community.

• We are continuing to do everything we can to ensure that surrendered and stray Labs have a safe place to go. • We have decided to reopen to accept new applications starting June 22nd. Interested applicants who reside within our coverage area will be able to apply online on our website (or by mail) at that time.
• For the time-being, our volunteers can continue doing home visits virtually (by Facetime, Videochat, Zoom, etc.), but all virtual home visits must include a virtual tour of the house and yard and an opportunity for our volunteer to see the applicant(s) interacting with any dogs they may already have. Telephone interviews will not be accepted going forward. An on-site visit can take place but must be done outside the applicant’s home with social distancing and everyone wearing masks. For such on-site visits, we will require applicants to provide pictures of the layout of the inside of the home or, ideally, a virtual tour of the home.
• We are taking precautions when it comes to adopters and fosters interacting to meet a dog. They include practices that encourage social distancing during the meeting, all parties wearing masks, and only agreeing to meet if all parties are well and have not had known exposure. All paperwork will be completed electronically.

The health of our volunteers and adopters is important to us, and we wish to keep everyone safe and healthy. We encourage applicants to discuss precautions with us if there are any questions or concerns. We will continue to monitor this situation as it evolves, and we thank our volunteers and supporters for continuing to help dogs in need.
