According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen in the US every year. Research indicates that only 22% of lost dogs in shelters were returned to their families, but that percentage rose to more than 52% when a dog is microchipped.
Although 1 in 3 family pets will get lost, only 6 of 10 microchips are registered. A microchip only works if it is registered and the information is accurate. Please check with your pet’s microchip company to be sure your contact information is up to date.
