Farm to Family – Willow

(Melanie Sessa – Foster Mom)
Beautiful Willow was a breeder mama on the farm and rescued by Brookline when she could no longer produce puppies. The day of her rescue she was extremely overweight and in desperate need of a bath. It took 3 shampoos to get the stink off!

Once in her foster home, she was comfortable with the resident dogs and spent the first day investigating her new home and surroundings. She quickly headed to the beach to see if she liked the water, and it was a huge success. She went right in and loved it! Willow is a true water dog.

Willow also met my toddler grandson and was so sweet with him. She was so gentle with children. To help improve her stamina and reduce her weight, each day we went on long walks. Initially she would get winded, but she worked so hard to gain her strength and get healthy.

Willow was the ideal dog to foster. So loving and obedient, this former breeder girl came so far. From the farm to the beach and then off to college and an amazing family that adores her. And, from the moment they first met Willow a little over four months ago, we all knew that Willow had found her forever home.

(Sandi Shore – Forever Mom)
Melanie prepared Willow so well for life off the farm. We had little to do but welcome her with open arms into our home, provide her with snuggles, long walks and trips to the creek for some water fun.

It has been easy to love such a beautiful girl who in turn loves everyone (both 2 and 4 legged) that she meets. She has lost about 10 pounds since she has come to us. Willow has much more energy now and although she still prefers to snuggle on the couch, she enjoys long walks in the park or on the college campus knowing that she will be greeted by the students who love to pet her soft creamy coat. She may even have a therapy job in her future!

As both fosters and adopters, we are so grateful to Brookline for rescuing Willow and giving her a chance at a new life. She has a beautiful soul, and her rescue has brought such joy to our lives.

It’s a wonderful life for Willow!
