Meet Chance! Chance is a very handsome and super friendly guy who has moved around a lot in his short life.  He was given to an elderly lady in March, who found him to be too much to handle despite working with a trainer, and only weighing in at 37lbs.  Some good Samaritans took him and found him a home, but that adopter returned him after 10 days as his daughter was allergic to Chance. Chance is now in foster care with Brookline, and will be brushing up on his basic manners and leash walking. Please read his blog from the bottom up to learn more about him.

Big welcome to Chance who hitched a ride with me to Kamp. We met Jeff and Kim at Washington Crossing Park and picked this handsome boy up. He jumped a little but was really well behaved considering all the changes. He was an excellent passenger in my car. At one point he unclipped the seat belt extender by accident. He just sat in the back seat. He was such a good boy.I let him out and gave him some time to run around and explore the small yard at BCK. He is in the quiet room for now. He needs a little time to decompress. He is very smart. He knows sit and down which is an excellent start. He needs work on recalls. He will come but if there is something more interesting to smell he will totally ignore me. I think he is going to make a wonderful dog for some lucky family.

Stay tuned.

Please welcome very handsome young man Chance to Brookline!Chance #9 Black Labrador Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3288Yesterday, we met his temporary foster family and picked him up for the first leg of his journey from NJ to PA. Chance spent his first year with a family who felt he grew into a bigger handful than they could manage, so he was adopted by a new family.  It turns out one of those new family members was allergic to him, so the search call went out to find help and Brookline was able to take him in for some polishing and a new adoption soon.

He is a super friendly guy and filled with enthusiasm to meet new people.  He was a bit unsure about why we were asking him to climb into our car, but he was a great passenger and seemed comfortable on the road.Chance #9 Black Labrador Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3288 Chance #9 Black Labrador Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3288In order to bring an out-of-state dog into Pennsylvania we need to get a special veterinary certificate so we kept Chance in our home overnight and off to the vet this morning.  Before we got to our house, we could tell how much he would enjoy a race around our local dog park, so we stopped there and let him tire himself out chasing balls and toys.Chance #9 Black Labrador Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3288 Chance #9 Black Labrador Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3288 Chance #9 Black Labrador Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3288He’s very fast and athletic and is a natural jumper (might be part kangaroo) and we immediately wondered if he might be a superb frisbee dog someday!

He slept well in the crate and did all his business outside like a good boy and then this morning he passed his health inspection with flying colors.  Once that paperwork was in hand Chance then crossed the Delaware (at Washington Crossing Park… apropos in this 250th anniversary year) and into PA where he is going to stay at Kamp and work with Brookline volunteer Deb on learning manners and tricks (and treats!). He can already do Sit and Down so Deb will have a great student on her hands.Chance #9 Black Labrador Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3288Welcome to a great new chapter in your life, Chance!
