Meet Blondie!  Blondie is an almost 4 year old female yellow lab (DOB 11/11/22).  She was recently sprung from the farm and now her breeding days are over! Blondie will be telling you all about her life from farm to fabulous house pet while in her Brookline foster home, so read her blog from the bottom up to learn about all of her adventures!

October 15, 2026

Hey everyone, it’s me, Blondie! I wasn’t sure if you’d recognize me because the vet said I am ~skinny~!!! Ok, those weren’t her exact words, but I went for my booster shots this week and they put me on the scale and I have lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks! I am now a svelte 112 lbs. I am working towards 75-80lbs, but I’m pretty impressed with myself.

As you can see, I am now extra flexible (I told you I would be doing gymnastics next!), and Sandy is having a harder time running away from me during zoomies! Imagine how impressive I am going to be when I am at my goal weight?! Eat your heart out Ozempic!

Foster mom says the rest of my weight loss will be easy because I have such a zest for life! If you’ve been following along, you probably know by now that I love my walks, running around, and playing with my toys. I am also super awesome at fetch and even bring the ball back…most of the time.

I love playing with other dogs too, but I appreciate it when we do slow introductions first, otherwise I sometimes bark. Foster mom gets that I’m just a little uncomfortable with fast intros, and we work through it together. I’m easy to redirect when I bark, so we both know this won’t be a big issue for me if I have a good support system!

The other big news this week is that foster mom went back into the office and left me out of my crate! I have been really good every time she has gone out for shorter periods and will usually settle in for a snooze with Sandy.

This time she left for FOUR hours!! At least I think it was four hours, I can’t actually tell time, I’m a dog! When she came home Sandy and I were waiting at the door for her. I don’t like to point paws, but Sandy had done some naughty things (foster mom knows it was her because all the things that were “moved” came from upstairs where I don’t go) but I was really good.

I am pretty reliable when I’m out of my crate, and only really go in there for relaxing or bedtime because it’s like my own personal room.

Pretty soon I think I will be ready to find a forever family who enjoys the same lifestyle and hobbies as I do. Maybe I will even meet them at Barktoberfest this weekend!  I hope I will see you there!Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252xoxo,

Blondie

October 11, 2026

Guys, you know how they say you can get the Sunday scaries? Well thanks to my foster mom who is really embracing spoooky season, I had whole weekend scaries!

First up was a walk in the cemetery. Foster mom said she could take me and Sandy there together because it would be pretty *dead* and she didn’t have to worry about us getting excited and pulling her (SUCH a lame joke foster mom). I jumped right in the car to go, much to everyone’s surprise! A little insulting how surprised, honestly. Everyone should know by now that I’m a quick learner!

Similar to my mom Shelbie, who is also being fostered through Brookline, I’ve discovered I like to stick my nose out the window to catch a breeze! Like mother like dogter. Once we got to the cemetery, we walked for almost 2 miles! I was pretty tired by the end, but I had a great time sniffing everything. I really didn’t think it was that scary at all! I took a long rest, and then foster mom said it was time to pose me for fall photos! I did my best to look super perfect. Safe to say I succeeded. One of the actual scariest parts of my weekend was meeting my foster cousin Emmie. She was…orange?! Extremely spooky. She tried to say she’s golden, but I’m not buying it, she is an orange dog. I barked at her when she came onto my front lawn because I was so spooked, but once I got to know her I realized she was ok and we did some, you guessed it, zoomies! Her and Sandy ganged up on me a little (VERY rude), but I gave it right back to them and we had a great time being silly.

For the last part of my spooky fall themed weekend, foster mom signed me up for Barktoberfest at the Saucon Valley Promenade! The event is Saturday (10/17) and it will give me the chance to meet & greet all of my adoring fans! I’m still working on slimming down to fit into my lederhosen, so maybe next year for that.

Apparently all the details are on the Brookline socials, so be sure to check it out the link!

Time to catch up on my beauty rest now, until next time!

October 9, 2026

Hi Everybody, it’s Fri-YAY! I’ve had another really good week being a loved inside dog, and have done a bunch more fun activities, along with working on some ~manners~. But as you can see below I am a perfect lady so I don’t have a lot of work to do. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252This week foster mom took me through town so I could check out all the action (but she forgot to take pictures…why do I even bring her along?). I had a lot of opportunities to meet nice neighbors who all said wow, she is SO adorable (obviously) and I was polite with everyone. If foster mom stopped to talk to the neighbors for too long, I just plopped down on the sidewalk to take a load off.

I also did my longest walk to date, to the WOODS! Foster mom said she wanted to get me into nature, and I loved it!! We walked on a trail near her house that has trees, dirt, and even a stream! I was not sure if I cared about the water or not, but I did dip my toes in and it seemed ok. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252 Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252 Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252

I also walked past the park where kids were playing on the playground. Even when they scream and shout, it doesn’t bother me. We saw a sign at the park that said no dogs, so I didn’t go in, but I did stick my nose over the line to show them they’re not the boss of me. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252 Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252By the end of the week Sandy and I were ready once again for some big time zoomies to close out the work week!

Have I mentioned that we are great coworkers? We are definitely going to get coworker of the month awards. Here I am “working” hard LOL! 9-5 is for suckers! Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252Can’t wait to do some more fun things this weekend, TGIF!!Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252

October 6, 2026

I have officially been in my foster home for one week! Foster mom told me I’ve adjusted really well to home life. She says she would like to work with me on a few things regarding my ~manners~ (whatever, *eye roll*), but otherwise it’s like I’ve been living in a house my whole life!

Here I am working on my manners and generally being cute:

I’ve already done some fun activities this week like meet my foster moms parent’s dog (does that make her my foster aunt?) Ella Mae and have zoomies with her! We went to her house and ran in her backyard. If you can believe it, Ella Mae is even faster than my foster sister Sandy! She really has the moves. Can you say goals?

Foster mom says as I keep losing weight I am going to be fast and agile too, not to mention strong! She seems surprised at how much energy I already have even with extra lbs on me. But duh foster mom, I’m not even 4 years old yet and I’m a lab! Of course I have energy!

Another thing we’ve done this week is start venturing farther into the neighborhood. Yesterday I walked through a tunnel that foster mom thought might be scary for me, but like usual, not much scares me (except sometimes the dark when I’m alone at night, eek!). Even though the sidewalk was really tiny in the tunnel and cars were driving next to me, I walked on through like I owned the place.

Foster mom walks Sandy and me separately now so that she can individualize my workout plan; she’s a great personal trainer. Also she says she doesn’t want us to pull her over because we’re a lot of lab when we’re together and it’s hard to handle us when we get excited.

When I’m walking by myself I don’t pull on my leash unless I see squirrels. Foster mom says I’m a really good walker. I have met a few dogs and been polite with them as long as they’re polite with me, but when I’m with Sandy we are double trouble! I have taken some time out of my busy exercise schedule to stop and smell the flowers, but otherwise it is go, go, go! Foster mom says she can’t wait until I get weighed again so we can see if I am losing any of my extra lbs. She thinks I am because I am like the energizer bunny lately! It’s clear I’m feelin’ good, and you know what they say, looking good, feeling good! And just in case you were worried, I did manage to fit in zoom time with Sandy this week too. Foster mom says we’re tearing up her grass, but it’s all in the name of parkour, so she’ll just have to deal. I think we’re looking pretty athletic here!

Until the next update! October 4, 2026

Hi guys, it’s Blondie aka the Blond Bombshell here coming at you with the weekend update! On Friday my foster mom had a friend over and I got to meet her! It was exciting meeting someone new! I did a little jumping when she came in (although gravity is not my friend) but didn’t bark, and even showed her my belly for some rubs. She came with us on our walk and we did my usual loop in the neighborhood, where I showed her how well behaved and what a good walker I am! She was impressed for sure.

By the way, my mom said she “clocked” our loop, whatever that means, and it is exactly 1/2 a mile. So I am basically a certified athlete because I do it 3-4 times a day. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252On Saturday foster mom took me and my foster sister on our morning walks and then went out for an hour and a half. I stayed in my crate and used that time to chill and think about what a great week I’ve had so far.
When foster mom got home she said she was so proud of how good I am when she leaves. She let me out of my crate, let me out back in case I needed to go to the bathroom (I’m a really good girl and don’t go in the house) and then I went and played with my toys!

Something I didn’t tell you guys about last time is that I got a really awesome toy box from Brookline! There were so many toys in it that I have a great time playing with, but I especially love my crinkly fox!Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252

After playing with my toys, my foster sister Sandy and I went outside and played some more. Sandy is faster but I am stronger, so we’re a good match! Foster mom says that for a big girl I can really move!

Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252

On Sunday we had a more relaxing day, although foster mom isn’t letting me skip any walks! She said it’s important that I keep building up my stamina and eating well so I can shed some lbs. A little hypocritical since I see her sitting around and enjoying a bowl of ice cream every night, but we’ll let that be.

I am not sure what new things the new week will bring, but maybe some longer walks and introducing myself to some of my foster cousins. Stay tuned and I will report back!Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252

October 2, 2026

It has been a big few days for me in my foster home! I’ve been going for a couple of short walks each day and have learned that there are tons of squirrels and rabbits in this neighborhood. I’m not fast enough to catch them yet, but that doesn’t stop me from trying to give them a good chase, and sometimes I drag my foster mom along with me on the leash! She said she is getting an arm workout!

When I am not chasing after things I walk well on my leash, although I like to keep it interesting by doing some swerving around to different trees and bushes. But as you can see from the video, I am not phased by the Halloween decorations popping up in people’s yards and just continue on my way when I see those. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252

I also went to the vet this week, which was pretty great. I got into the car (but not before I accepted a few bribes of chicken jerky, I’m no dummy), and after a couple of minutes I settled in on the backseat. When I got into the vet office I checked everything out. There was so much to smell! And even though I felt them pinching me with something a few times, they gave me so much easy cheese I barely even noticed! I did have to get on the scale, which I didn’t really want to do (I mean who does, right?) and I weighed in at 115lbs. I know that is probably a little too much for my petite frame, so my foster mom is going to help me lose some weight. She tells me I’ll feel much better once I do, but I hope that doesn’t mean less treats! Especially because everyone told me what a good girl I was at my appointment. Foster mom said she was really proud of me. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252 Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252 Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252After doing some activity each day, my foster mom has let me relax. She said she loves the poses that I pull when I’m asleep, like in this picture where it looks like I’m doing ballet with my back legs! Maybe I was a dancer in a former life?! I am getting more and more comfortable in my foster home, and foster mom said I’ve been really adaptable. I am pretty sure that means I’m flexible, which will be a good thing for my weight loss journey. I’ll probably be doing gymnastics next!Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252 Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252I can’t wait to see what other adventures foster life has in store for me. Stay tuned!

September 30, 2026

The very first thing I did when I was sprung was go for a bath at Bubbly Paws. And even though I thought climbing into the tub was a little weird (and I needed some help getting in there), I relaxed and enjoyed being scrubbed clean. And boy did my foster mom use a lot of shampoo! She said I was “stinky” from the farm, but personally I thought I smelled fine! To each their own I guess. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252 Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252After my bath my foster mom and her parents drove me an hour to my new foster home. I panted in the car but was otherwise a mellow girl, sitting down the whole time. When we got to my foster home I jumped right out of the car. I met my foster sister Sandy and did a ton of sniffing in the yard. After a few minutes of sniffing I even found a mud puddle to dig my clean paws into which I thought was awesome! My foster mom didn’t think it was as cool as I did, and blocked that part of the yard from me. I think I will try to sneak over there when she is not paying attention though. Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252I spent the rest of my first day off the farm playing with Sandy and even had a bunch of zoomies with her! I am not that fast yet because I have been in my bulking era lately, but I think Sandy is going to help me take my stamina to a whole new level! I also took a short walk in the neighborhood, which my foster mom said will also help melt the weight off of me. People in the neighborhood were giving us some stares, and I know it’s because we are really good looking labs.Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252

I am pretty tired after having such a big day, so I am looking forward to settling in and having some much needed beauty rest! This seems like a great start to the rest of my life off of the farm!Blondie #6 Yellow Labrador Retriever Female 4 Years Old ID#3252
