Buford is still waiting for his forever family to come and take him home!Black Labrador MixThis guy has been growing in leaps and bounds since he got here and is now up to 25lbs! He continues to do excellent with potty training and does all his business outside.  Good boy Buford!Black Labrador MixHe continues to be very easy to have in the house, and is really great at entertaining himself with toys and bones when I am busy. Black Labrador MixHe had a ball with the self play tug toy I bought on the Brookline auction!

We finally got a little pool for Buford that he really appreciates on those 90f days!  He’ll be taking ride with us to our lake house this weekend so I can’t wait to see what he thinks of the lake.

Buford had a big surprise when we picked up his sister, Waynette, this weekend.  She had been delayed in her transport North due to a positive fecal but finally got the all clear. They took a few minutes to remember each other but now they are best buddies.  Buford is really enjoying having someone to chase around the yard and to wrestle and nap with. Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador MixHe keeps trying to convince her to try the pool but for now she’s happy just laying in the shade.

He does still check in with Sammy and follow his lead but now he is spending most of his playtime with Waynette, and is really enjoying having someone his current size to tussle with.

Buford does well on leash and enjoyed our trip to the park with his sister and Sammy.

Buford loves everyone he meets.  Everyone that he meets just falls in love with this happy and friendly guy and can’t believe how calm, cool and collected he is for a puppy his age. He was super happy to meet my daughter who was in for the weekend from Pittsburgh.  He got lots of cuddles which he really likes.Black Labrador MixBuford will make an amazing addition to one lucky family! He is just the cutest, sweetest guy.Black Labrador Mix

Buford has been here for almost 2 weeks now and has settled in very nicely. He has been available to adopt but still has not found his forever family.Black Labrador MixBuford is a playful, inquisitive and happy 3 month old Labrador Mix.  He likes to play fetch with balls and stuffies, and chew on bones and squeaky or crinkly toys and loves to splash around in water and chase sprinklers.Black Labrador Mix

He has been reliable in the house when taken out every 2 hrs while he is awake, after he wakes up from a nap, and 15-30 min after a large meal. Buford will go on command when he is taken outside which is great and helps solidify his potty training.  So far this little guy has not had any accidents in the house and has been easy to have in the house!

He loves other dogs and likes to follow them around and do what they do but he is great when it comes to understanding another dogs boundaries.Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix

He’d love to have another dog in the home to play with and to be a role model but another dog is not a requirement as he is confident and loves his people and can entertain himself both inside and outside with toys when his people are busy.Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix

He does require someone to be home most of the time or have an alternate care plan in place as he is a young puppy that will require continued socialization and training to be a great adult companion dog and he is not a fan of his time in the crate.  While his people are home, he is wonderful on supervised free roam and a great office buddy as he readily entertains himself until he is ready for a nap and always sticks close to his people.Black Labrador MixHe is not a high energy puppy so he doesn’t require a lot of exercise and is definitely not picky when it comes to picking a spot to nap! Really his only napping spot requirement is that his people are close by.

Hi Everyone! This is Buford coming to you with this new update on the fabulous me!black labrador retriever mix

Well let me tell you, this place has been quite the change from the last place I was living. There, I had my brothers and sisters to play with, and a whole lot of big dogs too.  We spent everyday outside and all slept together in a comfy shelter at night. Here, there’s only one other dog, and he doesn’t always want to play with me. I’ve been trying real hard to be his friend and I think he’s starting to like me! I like to follow him around and see what he’s doing or eating and trying out the spots he likes to sit in, black labrador retriever mix black labrador retriever mixbut he would say, “get out here you pesky kid”! I always listen really good and I think it’s starting to pay off because now he lets me lay next to him, and I really like that.black labrador retriever mix black labrador retriever mixblack labrador retriever mix

When I first came, FM didn’t mind snuggling with me,black labrador retriever mixbut I think eventually I’ll convince my friend, Sammy to let me snuggle just like I did with my brothers and sisters. I’m not sure what Sammy thought when I was trying out his bed but it sure is cozy!black labrador retriever mixI really like my new FM.  She takes me outside and plays with me, and takes me on walks around our big yard. I really like to play fetch or chew on toys in a shady spot when its really hot out.

Sometimes when FM is busy with her gardening, I like to hang out on the shady porch and take my nap!black labrador retriever mix black labrador retriever mix

FM also gives me really yummy meaty bones.

When I’m done eating them, I find a really good hiding spot so that Sammy will never find it and I can eat it again later.

There’s another cool spot that I found in FM’s closet. I usually hang out there while I’m waiting for her to get ready.black labrador retriever mix black labrador retriever mixFM tells me I have just the right amount of energy and likes that I can play alone and then take a nap when she’s busy sitting in her office.black labrador retriever mixFM showed me this crazy toy last night that makes all sorts of noises and spins around! It was so fun to play with. I was so excited, I wanted to show it to Sammy so he could have a turn too!

FM also likes that I stay right with her when we go on our walks around the yard and when we are in the house so she can keep an eye on me. Don’t tell her but it’s because I feel real safe when I’m with her and she gives me these yummy treats when I’m good!!

Right now, FM says that our walks can only be in the yard since I have a couple more shots to get but we’ve been going in the car to different places. FM carries me around so I get to see new places and people. I really like meeting new people and the car is a great place to nap! So far I’ve been to a pet store, to an oil change place and a jewelry store.

I really don’t like it when FM leaves and I tell her that really loudly but I’m starting to get used to that crate thing since she always leaves me with a tasty bone and she’s not gone all that long. The rest of the day, FM is here with me and I like that alot. FM says that I will be going to my forever family soon!  I really hope they will have another big brother or sister like Sammy because he shows me all the “big dog” things I should be doing,

Well, that’s all for now! We just finished taking our last walk for the day, and I’m getting sleepy.black labrador retriever mix black labrador retriever mix Foster Mom says that it’s almost bedtime and I want to get the most comfy spot in the bed!black labrador retriever mix

Buford is on day 3 of foster care and is settling in great! He has been doing all his business outside with absolutely no accidents since he arrived.  I take him out when he first wakes up, 5-10 minutes after a meal and every couple of hours while he is awake and immediately after waking up from a nap. He even goes pee on demand which is amazing for a puppy his age. He is sleeping through the night snuggled in bed with me and only stirs when I get up.He is a people person and doesn’t like to be left alone. Over the weekend, when my husband and I went out, we left him with my son. He fussed for a bit and ran around the house looking for me and then finally settled in my son’s laundry basket for good 45 min nap.

Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador MixToday was the first day that he needed to be crated when I left for my morning workout. My husband report that he cried and made a fuss the entire time that I was gone even though he had a heartbeat puppy, a collagen chew stick that he had previously been happily chewing on, a peanut butter lick ball and some scattered kibble to find in his big crate. He was however quiet as a mouse when I walked in the house. Maybe the garage door opening got his attention and distracted him from his fussing. He has never been alone prior to coming into foster care and always had his littermates and other dogs around so I understand that being alone can be scary. He’d probably do best with someone who is home more often than not and another furry friend in the house to keep him company.Black Labrador MixHe is great at entertaining himself when his people are staying put in one place.  He loves squeaky balls, and toys, and collagen chew sticks, benebones and marrow bones.

When I’m up and about, Buford is right behind me and goes where I go. He likes dehydrated sweet potato snacks too! Buford wasn’t too sure initially about coming down the big staircase, but only after a day figured out how come down without any problem.

Outside, he likes to play fetch and is great about bringing it right back for another toss.

He likes to walk around our big fenced in yard and sticks close behind me, occasionally straying off the path for a sniff but always coming right back to my side.He is good reading other dog’s cues and was super happy when Sammy wanted to play a little chase with him. I think he’d love to have a playmate to play chase with and keep him company.

Buford loves to get loved on and is always ready to snuggle and give out kisses and isn’t too picky about where he takes his naps as long as his people are close by. He also loves to get belly scratches.

Buford is a super sweet guy who has been super easy to have in the house. He is going to make an excellent daily companion to one lucky family!

I picked Buford up from transport today.  It was a long ride that started yesterday in Little Rock, AR. Buford’s dad was a black Labrador and his mom was a mixed breed dog. Where they lived in AR it’s hard to find good adopters so the family reached out to a local rescue for help who then contacted Brookline.Black LabradorHe was super friendly and full of kisses when I got him.  He wasn’t a fan of going back in the crate and cried and howled for about the first 10 minutes of our car ride home after that he settled down and was quiet for the rest of the ride.Black Labrador MixWhen we got home, we explored the yard and he met Sammy.  Buford wasn’t really interested in Sammy and mostly just wanted to sit in my lap. Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador MixWe brought out the tennis ball and he had fun playing some fetch.  He happily chases the ball and brings it right back for another toss.Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador Mix Black Labrador MixAfter all the playtime we went inside and he ate his food and then a bath since he was a bit stinky from the ride. He did really well in the tub and then we went back outside to dry off in the sun.  He dried super fast which was great. This boy loves attention and scratches!Black Labrador MixBlack Labrador MixAfter some more playtime in the yard, I brought him with me in the office to work on this update and he curled up on a comfy bed and is now snoozing away!

Stay tuned for more updates as this cutie settles in.
