Griffen #2 Black Labrador Mix Male ~2 Years Old
Meet Griffen! Griffen is a handsome, and sweet boy who was found stray in Arkansas by a mailman on his country route. He called Monticello 2nd Chance Fur Dog Rescue and let them know his location. They picked him up and posted him online but no one came to claim him. When he arrived into foster care with Monticello, he was underweight, heartworm and Ehrlichiosis positive. Despite his medical maladies, he was a sweet, gentle, affectionate and playful guy. Griffen has been treated with 30 days of Doxycycline and will be getting Immiticide injections on 09/01 and 09/02 to rid him of heartworm. He will be HW retested on 10/02. If he is negative on the HW occult test, Griffen will be looking for an adoptive or foster to adopt family so that he can be transported up from Arkansas to his forever family. Big boy Griffen has been in foster care with me here in AR for about a month now. When he arrived, he was only about 77lbs, definitely underweight for his big frame.After a month of good eating, Griffen is now at 88lbs and filling in nicely.
This boy has been a wonderful since day 1. He integrated easily into our foster home where we have 15+ dogs at any one time. 
I have 4 of my own and then the rest are foster dogs. Griffen has been living inside our house with 7 other dogs and does well with all breeds, ages and temperaments. I also introduced him to our two cats and he was very good with them.
Griffen likes playing chase and wrestling with other dogs and is very good about tempering his play style with both smaller dogs, and is patient with rough players.
He likes to initiate play and is always up for a game of tug with a doggy friend.
Griffen loves attention and usually keeps all feet on the ground when meeting new people and waiting for pets or treats.
He hasn’t had any formal leash training but for a big boy has been easy to walk on a slip lead.
Griffen settles very well in the house after some playtime and can entertain himself with toys and chews.
Griffen will be getting his HW injections next week so stayed tuned for updates on how he is doing!
